*This is unprecedented. So the contract was initially for 3 months until March 31 at $160,000 which has expired and now they want it extended because to date only Pita Wise and Pramesh Chand have got jobs while the rest are awaiting the results of the PS interviews. |
Fijileaks Fact Check on Rabuka's Transitional Team:
*The former FLP Attorney-General, the late ANAND SINGH (RIP) had claimed to us that he and another political colleague of his were taken up to the Nabua military barracks in 2011 and bashed up by balaclava clad bodyguards of the then Prime Minister for hours before they were confined in the RFMF Front Gate Security cells for 48 hours to allow their wounds to heal and before they were interrogated daily for two weeks at CID headquarters. |
"The private function at Maungakiekie Golf Club organized by Mr Singh’s friends was supposed to be private and was about celebrating a new Fiji with two prominent successful Punjabi’s, in their own manner. |
No doubt the MC Nitya Reddy probably could’ve shorten the introduction of the Chief Guest however he too got carried away in the midst of the hype and pump. I was sitting on the table with Hon Charan and he was NOT drunk or at any stage out of control. He was having kava with others on the table including me."
Pramesh Sharma, the former Executive Director of Oceania Hospitals
There has been significant discussion about Hon Minister Charan Jeath Singh’s recent visit to New Zealand. I attended the “controversial” function and also hosted a function where three senior Cabinet Ministers, Hon Minister Aseri Radrodro and Hon DPM Manoa Kamikamica attended with Hon Singh.
The private function at Maungakiekie Golf Club organized by Mr Singh’s friends was supposed to be private and was about celebrating a new Fiji with two prominent successful Punjabi’s, in their own manner. The other prominent Punjabi was Professor Pal Ahluwalia, USP VC, who spoke of his journey but was absolutely apolitical.
There were lots of engagement, applauses and laughter at the function. No doubt the MC Nitya Reddy probably could’ve shorten the introduction of the Chief Guest however he too got carried away in the midst of the hype and pump.
I was sitting on the table with Hon Charan and he was NOT drunk or at any stage out of control. He was having kava with others on the table including me.
The speech by Charan centered around where Fiji has got too in the last sixteen years and was totally factual. Those that seem to be defending CWM and the health services in Fiji need to take a walk in the various public medical facilities in Fiji to determine facts. It’s not about those that are working in the health care but the failure by the FF Government to invest in the upgrade and upkeep of the facilities. Hon Singh pointed it out in the startling manner that the facilities are in. The current Fiji Government took the media for a live tour of CWM and it was visibly deplorable.
The discussion around Hon Singh’s revelation on Walesi and those that benefitted is not new information but simply solidifying what information is in every domain and the unanswered questions of the alleged abuse.
Hon Singh and Professor Ahluwalia represent a ”fire” brand new generation leaders who speak their mind and are not reluctant to speak the truth.
There may have been some misunderstanding on protocols on Cabinet matters by Hon Singh but he has not made statements that are not factual.
The private function that became controversial was hijacked by the suspect Walesi beneficiary. It was definitely plotted to embarrass Hon Singh and the new coalition Government. The jockey from Radio Tarana was only there to disrupt a function that was for the laughs and celebrations.
The same radio station, which is and continues to remain the mouth piece for the former FF Government, tried to discredit our Hon Biman Prasad DPM last year during his visit to New Zealand.
I would urge the Hon Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to not take matters of discipline to any height because of some truthful comments hurled by a passionate PAP Minister in cabinet.
The current crop of Ministers are new and probably a retreat to set the governance and communication framework will do well.
Hon Singh is definitely what Fiji needs; he sometimes gets into other tracks on his very high powered run but he is sincerely and passionately dedicated to Fiji!
“Singh is King” slogan probably got the better of him but he definitely is what Fiji needs at this junc

Sharma who was charged with 12 counts of indecently insulting a person, appeared before Magistrate Waleen George this morning.
The defence led by Devanesh Sharma had made an application for the charges to be dismissed as they were in contravention of Section 187(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act, which requires a complaint relating to a summary offence, which has a penalty of maximum 12 months or less, to be complained of, or a Police report lodged within 12 months from the date of the alleged offence.
The defence said the offences complained of in this case dated back to 2018 and 2019.
The charge therefore was statute barred.
Magistrate George agreed with the application made by the defence and upheld legal submissions made.
The DPP then advised that they were withdrawing the charges and agreed with the submissions by the defence.
Accordingly, an oral application was made by the DPP under Section 169 of the Criminal Procedure Act and Pramesh Sharma was acquitted of all charges.

“Recently, an executive of a company was charged by Police. Unfortunately he got off on a technicality. The lady had also gone to the Women’s Crisis Centre, We understand nothing happened. No-one came to the defence of that lady, no one commented that this person who has gone to New Zealand, now making comments from there. Why? Was it because he is anti-Government or made anti-Government comments that is why they are not saying anything about him?" |

DEBT CLEARANCE: He is refusing to disclose if he cleared an alleged debt of $130,000 to a New Zealand dairy farmer from whom he had rented premises to start business after he left Fiji following the 2006 Coup
After PAP formed government in coalition with SODELPA and NFP under Coupist Sitiveni Rabuka, RAJESH SINGH, flew into Fiji and turned up at different gatherings, and has found himself appointed a Board Member of Fiji Sports Council. Nepotism knows no bounds in Rabuka's 'new' Fiji.
“In our last cabinet meeting, it was revealed, and it is a public document now, that we have got a guy here called Robert Khan in New Zealand. He pretends to be that he is serving the country, Fiji, but what he has done, he started a so-called Walesi Television station. In the last seven years, he has used $123m in the establishment and setting up and running of it. $123m is not a small amount. Robert Khan who is supposedly to be Khaiyum’s number two in Fiji.”

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka confirms that disciplinary measures will be conducted against cabinet members if there is a breach of code of secrecy. “I conduct disciplinary measures face to face and I wait for him to come back. The Ministers must not use any official information which comes to him or her as a Minister during cabinet discussions for his or her private profit, or the benefit of their friends and close associates. “There is a code of secrecy, oath of secrecy that is sworn by those that are sworn into cabinet positions they have to observe that, part of it is the disclosure of cabinet decisions which should only be made at authorized press conferences and press releases by authorized ministers in those areas.” |
