There is need for PROTECTION of the local resources from corporate exploitation and greed. The experience worldwide is that often governments instead of providing the protection they should be providing the local resource owners, collude with the corporations - usually foreign TNCs - to short change them to fill their own pockets.

In one submission i read gravel sold for $21 and landowners receiving $6 per cube, implying profit of 15.No consideration is given to cost to extraction, machine to dig, truck to cart, labour, maintenance and finance.

Bainimarama has no authority to appoint "a Vunivalu of Tailevu Conferderacy". Tailevu is not a Confederacy but a province.

Voreqe will appoint Nailatikau to be Vunivalu of Bau. No one from Bau can stop him from doing it. He has the support of the Cakobau house GK and Adi Litia. All they need is money to be silence now.

First error, lie and cover-up is it should not be called Bauxite mining.or extraction..in fact Land with Bauxite & other minerals are taken to China...Extraction is done in China.....Landowners should take all approving agencies to court....

Land has Eyes - others greedy eyes. That is what landowners need to be on the lookout for if they are not to lose their land and resources and heritage for future generations of their people.

Like said above due consideration be given to environment, due consideration be given to landowners, due consideration be given to equity of itaukei interests... end of the day commercial interests come to play thus one needs astute leaders for the benefit of the nation and it's people.

The reality, based on Fiji's political history, is that the so-called "educated and noble amongst (the i taukei) have used their superior knowledge and chiefly authority to misinform 'their own beings' for their own selfish ends.
