SUGAR, FSC Bankrupt, Section 144A(1)Electoral Act. Will Joel Abraham run to Saneem and report NFP?: 'A person or a political party must NOT publish information, if knowing that the information is a false statement'

Fiji Sugar Corporation: BANKRUPT or NOT BANKRUPT?
The Reality of the Matter: We NO longer believe anything Sitiveni Rabuka's "Ponga Professor" tells us these days

Picture

Coming soon: How PAP's national treasurer Joseva Leano, while at FRCA as acting General Manager, Risk & Compliance (on $100,000 a year salary), altered his own tax records regarding his sugarcane farm income, was investigated, and SACKED in 2008. Biman Prasad was on FRCA Board at the time of the sacking. And, yet, here he is, hiding under Rabuka's PAP sulu in 2022, preaching accountability to FijiFirst Party government. Despite us presenting him evidence that PAP is full of some very corrupt individuals (including its national treasurer Leano), Prasad refuses to cut himself lose from 'Valmiki Rabuka', for just like Jai Ram Reddy, he is banking to get elected on the tail-coat of Coupist Rabuka.
We wonder if PAP's membership fees and donations are safe in Leano's hands?
The Investigation Report containing 56 pages has been with us since 2008:

Can Prasad tell us whether Rabuka BANKRUPTED
the National Bank of Fiji after seizing power in 1987?

Fijileaks to Joel Abraham: It is over a year, and we are still waiting to hear from you: 'JOEL ABRAHAM, the Chief Executive Officer of Fiji's Competition and Commerce Commission, is refusing to admit or deny to Fijileaks that he is on an annual salary of $385,000. He is also FNFP Board Member.'

The reality of the matter is that the Fiji Sugar Corporation is technically insolvent and bankrupt without the support of taxpayers through Government because of the Corporation’s inability to pay its massive debts, said National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad.

Responding to FSC Chief Executive Officer Bhan Pratap Singh who said in a statement that FSC is financially sound, Professor Prasad said no amount of sugar-coating can hide this painful and bitter truth of a Corporation that has been left in a dilapidated state like its milling equipment under the leadership for the last 15 years.

“Mr Singh should know that late last year Government through the Ministry of Economy was forcibly acquiring about 6 percent shares held by individuals and organisations at $0.005 or half a cent per share”.
“If this is not bankruptcy, what is?”

“Sugar-coating the fundamental ills under the now broken and scratchy record of the leadership and governance of the last 15 years, is clearly aimed at ridiculing the Opposition and hiding the fundamental fact of this government’s colossal failure to revive the industry and save FSC from drowning”.

“All this government, which has total and absolute control of the industry, is doing is pumping in millions of taxpayers’ dollars into the Corporation. The FSC CEO, despite being in the job for less than a year, must surely know that this type of bailout by government is written in indelible ink”.

“The massive failure by government to resuscitate the industry by increasing sugarcane and sugar production has contributed in a large measure to FSC now becoming technically insolvent. And this means bankruptcy without taxpayers’ funds”.

“Any business has a core objective. FSC’s core business is to crush enough cane and produce sufficient sugar to make profit from the share of proceeds it receives under the Master Award. But this isn’t happening”.

The Auditors clearly pointed out in FSC’s 2020 Annual Report that the Corporation is unable to operate as a viable entity without government support”.

“The Auditors further noted that the extent to which the existing Government guarantees, and potential further support, are required is dependent on, among other things, the future sugar price, the quantity and quality of cane supply, the success of intended improvements in mill performance and the timely and effective implementation of management's plans and initiatives”.

“In the financial year ending 31st May 2020, the taxpayers of Fiji, directly and indirectly, contributed $248.8 million. This was in the form of”: -

* Conversion to equity of a government loan of $173.8 million
* $50 million grant
* $25 million paid by government to Fiji National Provident Fund as guarantor of two loans of $15 million and $10 million because FSC defaulted on the loans

“There are other serious concerns pointed out by the Auditors despite the conversion of $173.8 million of loan into equity”.

“The 2020 Report showed FSC’s current liabilities exceed its current assets by $144.4 million. This means that even if all of FSC’s assets including its mills are sold, the Corporation would still fall significantly short of clearing all its liabilities”.

“Government’s inability to turn around FSC and increase sugarcane crop yield despite pumping in millions of dollars, is a painful example of a leadership that manufactures and churns out useless rhetoric in an attempt to camouflage its inherent weaknesses”.

“Mr Singh should stick to his job of ensuring FSC’s core business objective of crushing cane and manufacturing sugar is met instead of being used as a puppet of this government”.

BLAMED for Indo-Fijian plight: Former Fiji Times Editor NETANI RIKA

Coup apologist Thakur Ranjit Singh was booted off air from Radio Fiji by Chaudhry government for ‘violating media ethics’
His response: “I feel that I have been stripped naked of my constitutional right – which is the right of freedom of speech.”
By “Tanik Hamari Bhi Suno – Hey Mate, Listen To Me”

COUP propagandist Thakur Ranjit Singh, enjoying the hospitality of the New Zealand Government, has been peddling a particular line since the dictator Frank Bainimarama took over the country in 2006.

The line, in Singh’s various columns and speeches, is that Fiji needed a Bainimarama coup to right the wrongs against Indo-Fijians, and in particular, to teach a lesson to the Fiji Times and its defiant then editor Netani Rika, whom Singh holds responsible for the state of race relations that existed in Fiji before the dictator’s 5 December 2006 coup.

Singh’s obsession with the Fiji Times led him to do a journalism degree in Auckland, and the subject of his thesis was to analyse the contents of the Fiji Times during the Mahendra Chaudhry’s political leadership from May 1999 to 2000, to determine what role, if any, Fiji Times played in the demise of democracy. His argument seems to be that there is no need for us to support a First World media in a Third World country like Fiji which is mired in racial tensions.

Ranjit Singh and regime’s rag mouthpiece Fiji SUN

Since the coup, Singh has become a regular commentator in the Fiji media, writing mostly in the regime’s rag mouthpiece, The Fiji Sun, and exposing himself as an Indo-Fijian racist bigot of the highest order. For some years now he has been blaming the Fiji Times for keeping Indo-Fijians like him down, and that Fiji Times had contributed to Chaudhry government’s downfall in 2000. He also claims that the deposed Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase was behind his sacking as general mamanger -publisher of Daily Post.

We, however, understand that the former Government controlled Fiji Daily Post suffered a tragic financial fate because it was handed to Singh, someone who had no hands on experience of the Fiji media, having worked previously with Carpenters, RABUKA'S the collapsed National Bank of Fiji and the Suva City Council. A brief stint on the Daily Post as general manager does not qualify him to talk about media and freedom of the press, or by scouring through the old stories in the Fiji Times for a journalism degree. He should be analysing his own on-air comments on Radio Fiji which had led to his sacking by the very Chaudhry government.

Singh booted off ‘Tanik Hamari Bhi Suno’ from Radio Fiji

The self-styled critic of the Fiji media should know better. While acting as publisher of Daily Post, then Chaudhry government owned newspaper, Singh was also a volunteer host on Radio Fiji Two’s bi-weekly Hindi-language programme, Tani Hamari Bhi Suno. In March 2000, he claimed on air that women in the northern part of the country, Labasa, were being oppressed, and exposed, in particular, to types of atrocities committed on them by their families.

His on-air comments offended Fiji Labour Party MPs, especially the MP from Labasa, Muthu Swamy, who on behalf of the people of Labasa demanded an apology from Singh. But Singh refused to apologise, maintaining that his radio programme was intended to expose truth generally swept under the carpet. “My programme was designed to highlight the suppression and oppression of women in Labasa, in particular, and expose types of atrocities committed on them by their families. I do not owe apology to anybody. As for one man who did not like the programme, there are 10 oppressed ladies who regard Thakur as a brother,” he said.

The FLP also accused him of lowering the standard of Hindustani on his programme, something  he has been accusing the Fiji Times of doing, in this instance to the quality of the English language in news stories. In his case, he defended the lowering of the Hindi language, telling Fiji TV that FLP charges on the language issue was an insult to the “forefathers” of Indo-Fijians, who had developed a common language, Fiji Hindi.

Most powerful forces in the FLP were now circling around him, wanting every inch of his flesh. The first to attack him was Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi, Chaudhry’s Assistant Minister of Information (later the dictator’s interim Cabinet Minister after the 2006 coup and now temporarily in New Zealand) who ordered the state-owned Fiji Broadcasting Corporation to stop hosting Singh’s Tanik Hamari Bhi Suno which was aired on Thursdays and Sundays.

Bowing to the order, the chairman of the FBC DANIEL Whippy (now facing corruption charges but who had been instrumental in appointing Khaiyum’s brother Riyaz as FBC CEO) pulled Singh off air. “The company is looking at several permanent employees of the FBL’s Hindustani language. Mr Thakur Ranjit Singh was never an employee of the company,” said Whippy. Singh was, therefore, booted off the show. Radio Fiji admitted that Singh’s talk show could have been “offensive”, without providing any evidence to support its claim.

Vayeshnoi said his Information Ministry had received numerous complaints from members of the public and Government about Singh’s radio programme. However, his expulsion was met with fierce criticism and from Pacific Islands News Association. Vayeshnoi also admitted writing a letter to Radio Fiji to remove Singh.

Like the reasons adduced in support of Rika now, PINA said the Chaudhry government, as did any member of the public, had the right to complain about the programme. But it was a matter of great concern that it applied pressure to ban a current affairs presenter.

PINA declared: “Radio Fiji as a national broadcaster must remain totally independent from government interference if it is to play a crucial role in providing the people of Fiji with the information they need to participate fully as citizens in a democracy. The Fiji Media Council of which Radio Fiji is a member, provides an independent complaints tribunal through which breaches of news and programming standards can be adjudicated on.”

Fiji TV chief Ken Clark said Vayeshnoi’s interference in the choice of an air host for a radio programme on Radio Fiji was a blatant case of government control of broadcasting matters. This is an area in which government should have no part to play.

Chaudhry, however, defended Vayeshnoi’s decision to boot Singh off air. Chaudhry said media ethics had been breached in the presentation of a radio programme. He said Vayeshnoi’s decision was commendable. He also criticized PINA president. Chaudhry said the government is the "custodian" of the taxpayers' money and Radio Fiji has a responsibility to be fair, accurate and unbiased.

He said Singh violated this and was biased against the Fiji Labour Party. Regarding media criticism, Chaudhry, as prime minister, said: "In the name of freedom they want to commit murder."  Chaudhry also suggested that the Fiji Media Council would take too long to handle a complaint.

And Guess Who Came to His Support: Yes, the Fiji Times

The Fiji Times came out fighting on behalf of Singh: “No matter how hard it tries, the Government cannot justify taking Mr Singh off the air. Voters did not give the Government a mandate to do as it pleases. The Government’s insensitive to criticism has already led to threats of regulating the media, revamping the Media Council and public attacks on the media at every opportunity. Now, it has crossed the line and introduced censorship.”

Singh cringed about his dismissal: “I feel that I have been stripped naked of my constitutional right – which is the right of freedom of speech.”

And yet the Indo-Fijian racial bigot and opportunist led the charge against Rika, supporting the new editorial policy of the Fiji Times, its new owner, and that of the publisher. There were widespread rumours in Fiji that Singh was hoping to be appointed to a top post with Fiji Times, and also wanted a position in the illegal Bainimarama-Khaiyum regime, maybe as media propaganda chief.

What the Fiji Times editorial stated in 2000 in support of Singh stands today; that the people of Fiji gave no mandate to the dictator and his illegal Attorney-General and that other Dracula, Christopher Pryde, to bring in the Media Decree to muzzle the press and freedom of speech in Fiji.

Tanik Hamari Bhi Suno, Netani Rika – The world salutes you for standing up to the illegal regime. We are proud that you kept your principles fully wrapped up, unlike Singh who stripped naked his buttock, in the eternal hope of warming it up in the editor’s chair at the now Motibhai owned Fiji Times.

Fijileaks: Thakur Ranjit Singh is an old friend of ours but it seems like many others, he has gone off his rockers. A Coupist is a Coupist. LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE: Like children screaming at each other, Aiyaz Khaiyum and Sitiveni Rabuka accuse the other of lying over the TRUTH about free education for classes 1 to 8 in 1990s. History follows RABUKA

20/1/2022

Fijileaks: In the 515 page long 'Report of the Fiji Islands Education Commission/Panel, (right photo) the outcome of the initiative by Chaudhry's People's Coalition Government, are the details about Rabuka's record on education. The Report, on us since 2000 (courtesy of the Commission's secretary Jioji Kotobalavu) was completed on 18 May 2000. The next day, on 19 May 2000, George Speight seized the Chaudhry government, holding its Ministers and MPs hostage for the next 56 days. During the hostage crisis, Rabuka as chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs, boasted that he was planning to march with the nationalists against many of Chaudhry government's policies. But Speight jumped the gun. Both Rabuka and Jai Ram Reddy (SVT-NFP Coalition) had been trounced in the 1999 election.
Picture

Under his racially discriminatory 1990 Constitution thousands of non i-Taukei students (excluding i-Taukei and Rotumans) were denied scholarships based on merit, for Rabuka was enforcing affirmative action program in education, which also spread to the National Bank of Fiji that finally collapsed costing taxpayers over $250million in losses. We will publish some of the extracts from the 'Education Commission Report'. Rabuka's two coups saw hundreds of
Indo-Fijian school teachers flee Fiji, impacting the education of all our
school children, and education system has not fully recovered from coup culture. The NFP's 'Ponga Professor' needs a lesson on Rabuka's CV (1987-2022)

'The People's Coalition Government shared the belief of those who, for many years, had consistently advocated a broad and all encompassing review of education in Fiji. To them and, in particular, their Minister for Education, Hon. Pratap Chand, must be given the full credit for establishing the Commission.'

Fijileaks: The following comment (see below) by one Charlie Charters on Grubsheet's Facebook neatly sums up why it is becoming so easy for FFP to throw the book back at Sitiveni Rabuka and his Peoples Alliance Party. If only the Coupist had disappeared from the political scene, along with the other Coupist Bainimarama, we could focus on bread and butter issues. Every kidacala statement Rabuka issues, FFP runs back to its school library to look up the pages on the Coupist's history from 1987-1999.

RABUKA AND RWANDA GENOCIDE: We wonder how many Indo-Fijian pregnant women during his 1987 racist coups experienced similar DNA changes to Rwandan pregnant women - new study makes horror reading

19/1/2022

Picture

Fijileaks: HEART OF THE MATTER
Although the horrific event in Rwanda may be over, the terror of the genocide lives on in the DNA of Tutsis victims and their offspring. We need a similar study for Indo-Fijian pregnant women from 1987 to bring Rabuka - self-confessed RACIST and Bogus Nationalist - to JUSTICE. For too long NFP has shielded Sitiveni Rabuka for his Racial CRIMES.
In their estimation, he is not the dreaded RAVANA but RAMA for their political fortunes at the election against acting Prime Minister Khaiyum

The latest study on Rwandan pregnant women also wants to shine a light on the horror that happened 28 years ago in Africa

Picture
Picture
Over the course of 100 days, starting on April 6, 1994, nearly 800,000 ethnic Tutsis were murdered by Hutu extremists as they tried to eradicate the minority group in Rwanda.

Although the horrific event may be over, the terror of the genocide lives on in the DNA of Tutsis victims and their offspring.

A team of scientists from the University of South Florida found chemical modifications in genes linked to mental disorders in women who were pregnant and the children they were carrying at the time of the genocide.

Picture
Picture
Picture
Picture
These findings suggest that, unlike gene mutations, these chemical 'epigenetic' modifications can have a rapid response to trauma across generations.

The study also provides more evidence to the theory, which is known as intergenerational trauma, that trauma can be inherited because there are genetic changes in a person’s DNA.

However,  the changes do not damage genes, but alter how they function.

Picture
Professors Monica Uddin said in a statement: 'Epigenetics refers to stable, but reversible, chemical modifications made to DNA that help to control a gene's function.

'These can happen in a shorter time frame than is needed for changes to the underlying DNA sequence of genes. Our study found that prenatal genocide exposure was associated with an epigenetic pattern suggestive of reduced gene function in offspring.'

The Rwanda genocide started when President Habarimana's plane was shot down over the capital Kikgali.
His death brought years of ethnic tensions to the surface, with extremist Hutus starting a planned campaign of extermination against the minority Tutsis.

The killings only stopped when the Tutsi-controlled Rwandan Patriotic Front seized control and put Paul Kagame into power.

By the end, about 70 per cent of the Tutsi people had been killed.

Uddin and her colleague Derek Wildman began their study to help provide scientific tools needed to help address mental health issues of the genocide's survivors.

Along with the help of Clarisse Musanabaganwa, a visiting scholar from the University of Rwanda and her colleagues, the team studied DNA from blood samples from 59 people.

Participants included 33 mothers (20 exposed, 13 unexposed) and 26 offspring (16 exposed, 10 unexposed).

Exposure is defined as being impacted by genocide-related trauma, such as rape or evading capture, witnessing murder or serious attack with a weapon and seeing dead and mutilated bodies.

'The Rwandan people who are in this study and community as a whole really want to know what happened to them because there's a lot of PTSD and other mental health disorders in Rwanda and people want answers as to why they're experiencing these feelings and having these issues,' Wildman said.

The team's work is just the latest to provide evidence for intergenerational trauma, as it has been found among Holocaust survivors and their offspring and average people who have experienced abuse, poverty and other traumatic events.

However, the latest study also wants to shine a light on the horror that happened 28 years ago in Africa.

The majority of Rwandans are ethic Hutus, but the country was ruled by the Tutsi minority for decades until 1959 when the Tutsi monarchy was overthrown.

In 1990, a Tutsi rebel group called the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) that had formed in Uganda invaded the country.

However, the fragile peace lasted only until the night of April 6, 1994, when a plane carrying Habyarimana and Cyprien Ntaryamira, president of Burundi and a Hutu, was shot down.

The Hutus blamed the RPF for the attack and enacted a 'final solution' to rid the country of Tutsis, with militias handed lists of names and told to kill them.

Neighbors turned on each other, husbands murdered their Tutsi wives, and there were even accounts of priests and nuns killing those who sought shelter in churches.

The Tutsi people were slaughtered by supporters of the Hutu government, who claimed to be ‘weeding out the cockroaches’.

Men, women and children were felled by machetes, grenades and bullets in their homes and on the streets.

A former Rwandan army colonel convicted for his role in the massacre of some 800,000 people in the 1994 genocide has died in Mali, where he was in prison. Théoneste Bagosora, 80, was a senior figure in Rwanda's ministry of defence at the time of the killings.

A UN-backed criminal tribunal sentenced him to life in prison, but this was later reduced to 35 years. His son Achille told the BBC he died at a hospital in Bamako, where he was being treated for heart issues.

In 2008, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda found him guilty of crimes against humanity, and for orchestrating the murder of several political figures, including Prime Minister Agathe Uwilingiyimana.

'A person or a political party must NOT publish any information in or outside Fiji and is accessible in Fiji, knowing or having reason to believe information is a false statement.' Foreign based bloggers mustn't FEAR

19/1/2022

The Fiji LAWYERS will NOT speak out but our reading into
Section 144A (1) of the Electoral Act means that persons living in Fiji, including the Fijian political parties registered with the Fiji Elections Office, must not publish any false statement inside or outside the country, otherwise Mohammed Saneem, who didn't have the requisite legal qualification to become the Supervisor of Elections, will send in his TonTon MACOUTES. Overseas bloggers have nothing to FEAR but must exercise the usual caveat and commonsense. If you want to post your comments in overseas blogs, don't use your real name. We suggest Charlie Banana, Lord Mustard, Cassava Patch Runner, or any other that is good enough to conceal your identity, and you are telling the TRUTH.
The recent Fake Flood Photos of Bainimarama were from VATIS
What say GRAHAM LEUNG and RICHARD NAIDU on Section 114A (1)?
Foreign based bloggers should tell SANEEM: UP YOURS!

Picture
And in Fiji under the Electoral Act - a provision that Dobby the House Elf, Elections Supervisor Mohammed Saneem, has just wielded against the Labour Party's Mahendra Chaudhry and hangs over all of us:
Picture
"144A.-(1) A person or a political party must not publish any information in or outside Fiji and is accessible in Fiji, knowing or having reason to believe the information is a false statement which is likely to influence the outcome of an election or diminish public confidence in the performance of any duty or function of the Supervisor and the Electoral Commission.

(4) Any person or political party that contravenes this section commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $50,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or both".

So in both Saudi Arabia and Fiji, it's five years jail and a big fine. Are the beheadings and bone-saw dismemberment of government critics next?

Ganesh Chand Academic or Email Freak??

Ganesh Chand is at it again.

Circulating malicious email via his Labour Party cronies overseas.

Some are based in London called the Movement for Democracy in Fiji and have members like Yusuf Roshan, Victor Lal and Raymond Croxon who have bombarded the Fiji media with their propaganda.

Their form of propaganda is subtle. They write as if not connected to each and pose as authorities on subjects related to the crisis of May 19.

Victor Lal appeared as a regular columnist on a local daily. Raymond Croxon appeared in a separate daily as a reputable Queens Counsel of the U.K.

Yusuf Roshan sent vindictive email on unsuspecting individuals in Fiji and put so many of them on a supposedly Œblack list¹ that foreign missions had of locals.

Now Ganesh Chand is using another movement this is based in Canada and staffed by some former Fiji Indians, namely headed by one Ashok Dutta who uses the email address [email protected]

Yushuf Roshan and his London-based Movement sent the emails with the address [email protected]. This email address was the subject of a story on FM96 news which stated that it had lodged a complaint with Fiji¹s sole ISP provider that [email protected] was circulating unwanted and unbecoming email.

What are we to expect of these Labour Party stooges.? They are a shame to the Indo-Fijian community.

Is this how they operated with regards to the National Federation Party?

Did they circulate lies about Jai Ram Reddy to win the ¹99 general election?

Are these the same people who would lobby and inundate institutions with their views so that their goal is finally achieved.

Maybe Ganesh Chand should come out of his closet. Was he the unashamedly head of the USP Cane Belt Mafia the Indo-Fijian group of academics at the USP campus who threatened and pushed their way forward for promotions on the USP campus?

Come clean Ganesh.

As Mohammed Rafiq Kahan (travelling on a false passport, and another accomplice who had arrived on a false Guyanese passport), told Indo-Fijians as he handed them the guns: "Traitors are running Fiji, and these Guns are for YOUR PROECTION." Those who risked all were not HINDU Indo-Fijians but Muslims, Christians and South Indian Indo-Fijians.
We never expected that in 1999 we would be betrayed by our own community, and that political attempts would be made to make the

Rabuka's 1987 coups decimated the Health Service and trend continues into 2022. The old Auditor-General's reports will support our claims

TERRORISTS: "On 29 May 2000, the Australian Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs cancelled George Speight's visa, and made it clear that any future application he might make to enter Australia will be considered on character grounds. Any application for entry by other individuals involved in the hostage taking would be considered in the same light. I have also instructed our missions abroad to seek the cooperation of other like-minded governments to take equivalent measures against what can only be described as terrorists."
Alexander Downer, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs
Fijileaks: Sitiveni Rabuka and his ten hooded gunmen can also be desribed as TERRORISTS for overthrowing the Bavadra government and holding the FLP-NFP MPs hostage
MUANIKAU ACCORD and Amnesty: On 24 June 2000, the future Coupist and then Army Commander Frank Bainimarama signed the Muanikau Accord, an agreement between the Interim Military Government and George Speight, at the then Tui Vuda Ratu Josefa Iloilo's residence, at Muanikau in Suva.
A terrified SITIVENI RABUKA, then chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs (yes, chairman, the commoner) asked Bainimarama what about his (Rabuka's) 1988 amnesty which he had granted himself. The Military Government assured Rabuka that the amnesty given to him and those involved in the 1987 coup will remain. Today, while George Speight who terrorised Fiji for 52 days only, languishes in prison, both Rabuka and Bainimarama are hiding behind immunity. While one is temporarily incapacitated in Melbourne, the other wants to become Prime Minister, with a host of some very high-profile individuals backing Rabuka.
We are where we are because those who seized power by the barrel of the gun, do not respect democracy or accept accountability.
Fijians of all races have become, sadly, a VERY SICK lot, when it comes to choosing between political leaders - they prefer to be charmed by the two SNAKES, as if there is no other alternative individual to lead Fiji.
We keep getting told, "Bro, only a Coupist can remove another Coupist, for we don't want MUSLIM Aiyaz Khaiyum to become Prime Minister."
In 1977, a group of Hindu MPs had betrayed Siddiq Koya, saying Fiji was not ready for an Indo-Fijian Prime Minister. They are repeating same now, willing to support Rabuka who reduced Indo-Fijians to chattels.
Sitiveni Rabuka began the rot, and it will continue, until we WAKE UP. COUPS have allowed those in power to get best overseas treatments.

A RABUKA-PRASAD Coalition Government will be an INSULT to our INDO-FIJIAN DEAD. Rabuka is hiding behind IMMUNITY. When Prasad's wife was verbally abused by Bainimarama in Parliament, NFP leader was jumping up and down with rage. Yet, he has no qualm in embracing Rabuka who physically and verbally abused Indo-Fijian women
between 1987 and 1999, even opening up coffins
"It's a sorry day day for Fiji that even dead bodies are suspected. Since race has become such a fact of life in Fiji, I am tempted to ask whether bodies of all ethnic groups are subjected to the same treatment if brought from abroad." The deposed Deputy Prime Minister Harish Sharma in Bavadra government. Sharma, along with former MP Nitya Reddy, were present when the coffin was opened and the body thoroughly searched. Guess what, in 1999 election, another NFP leader JAI RAM REDDY had formed a coalition with Rabuka, and was going to become Deputy Prime Minister if Rabuka had won the 1999 general election. NFP BREATHES on sheer political opportunism. But an angiogram test of NFP's heart will reveal that they don't care about Indo-Fijians and the rape, murder, robbery, and torture that was infliced by Sitiveni Rabuka. And, we are being asked to FORGIVE Rabuka and vote him in as the next Prime Minister of Fiji. One Mohammed Rafiq Kahan and our Editor were suspected of being the masterminds in London behind the 60 tons of weapons shipped into Fiji, many are still missing

GLORIOUS REVOLUTION: LETS FORGIVE Coupist Frank Bainimarama for he executed his 2006 COUP nearly SIXTEEN years ago and give him another 4 Years. Leung wants us to forgive Rabuka and his 1987 Coups

17/1/2022

Let us release GEORGE SPEIGHT from Prison. After all, his 2000 COUP Failed. Fiji suffered for
52 Days ONLY

For if it prosper, none dare call it “treason”.'

.BLOODY 2000 MUTINY: It was just a pimple on the backside of Fiji's inglorious coup history. Come on, FORGET it, for it happened 22 Years ago. Maybe, Suva lawyer GRAHAM LEUNG should donate the $130,000 in fees that he received to flood victims. We may recall that the former Fiji Law Society president Leung was the Judge Advocate of the Court Martial panel that had tried the 20 soldiers convicted of mutiny in relation to the Speight coup of 2000. The Suva lawyer had been commissioned as an Army officer, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Before Leung’s appointment a row had broken out between Bainimarama and the Minister for Defence Josefa Vosanibola over the payment fees of $130,000 to Leung, with Bainimarama arguing that the payment to Leung was being made from the Army budget (still to be audited) and that the Ministry of Home Affairs had no say in the payment. Just imagine if
RFMF Commander Ratu Jone Kalouniwai, who was held hostage during the mutiny, was told to just SHUT UP, Forgive and Forget (if Rabuka was allegedly involved) and move on - it bloody happened 22 years ago.

Picture
Almost everyone in Fiji has a view on Mr Sitiveni Rabuka who staged the first coup in 1987 as a relatively young army officer.

That single event has defined and informed Fiji’s politics for over three decades. I was totally opposed to that coup.

Members of my family sold their home and fled Fiji in 1987.

I have been opposed to every coup since then – 1987, 2000 and 2006.

Picture
As a strong adherent of the rule of law and democracy, the unconstitutional removal of a government runs against the grain of what I have been taught and what I believe in.

The coups have destroyed lives and livelihoods, set this country back by generations and come at a huge cost.

I recognize that those responsible have not been held to account and justice has not been received by many who have been hurt or injured by these events.

They have debased our young democracy. Mr Rabuka’s day or reckoning will come, if not in this life, then in the next.

He will carry this heavy burden forever.

Love him or hate him, Mr Rabuka is an integral part of the Fiji story.

I truly believe that the Rabuka who was responsible for 1987 is a changed man. He has apologized for his role in those events.

He was forgiven by the leader of the NFP the then leader of the largest Indian party, Jai Ram Reddy and together they worked to produce the 1997 Constitution which led to equality of Fiji’s races and the formation of a genuine multiracial cabinet.

Mr Reddy was a victim of the 1987 coup but he set aside his personal hurt and feelings in the wider national interest. This act of statesmanship destroyed his political career.

If Mr Reddy was able to collaborate with Mr Rabuka, that is good enough for me.

In February 1990, the then president of South Africa, FW de Klerk, took the fateful decision to release Nelson Mandela who later became President.

Mandela was later to form a political partnership with his arch enemy although their political views were diametrically opposed at one stage.

What President Mandela has taught the world is that it is possible to forgive one’s political enemies and work together for the common good.

Fiji has had 14 years of one party rule.

The record of government during that period has been dismal – unprecedented levels of poverty, decrepit infrastructure as evidenced by frequent water cuts and power outages, diminution of human rights, extraordinarily high levels of external debt and mismanagement at all levels.

Democracy needs to be refreshed and reinvigorated from time to time.

Any government that is in power for too long tends to become arrogant, complacent and authoritarian. They stop listening to the people.

The coming elections this year provides voters a chance to have more of the same, or the choice of a new government that has the ability to take Fiji out of the wilderness.

None of the parties or their leaders are perfect. All of them have weaknesses, just as they have strengths.

None of us are perfect. That is the nature of being human.

The electoral system in the Fiji Constitution is skewed and unfair.

A political party or candidate cannot qualify for a seat in Parliament unless they win at least 5% of the votes cast.

That is a very high bar and which many candidates and small parties will be unable to reach.

Some other opposition leaders have outstanding records, but regrettably the electoral system places them in a disadvantageous situation.

Reviewing the current political landscape, I believe Mr Sitiveni Rabuka is the leader who will best be able to take Fiji forward and bring the changes that Fiji needs at this time.

He is humble and compassionate.

He is a leader that listens.

He has learnt from his past mistakes.

He has the experience of being a former head of government.

I trust him.

The founders of Mr Rabuka’s party give me confidence that if they win a majority of seats in the general elections, Fiji will have a government that is kinder, gentler and more inclusive.

Fijileaks: Jai Ram Reddy might have destroyed his political career (he was rejected at the poll) but he returned to his successful legal career, becoming President of the Fiji Court of Appeal, and later a Judge on the International Tribunal on Rwanda. Instead of holding Rabuka to account for crimes against humanity, he was sending Rwandans to prison. As for Mandela and d'Klerk, they went on to carve lucrative political careers, one becoming President and the other his Vice-President. That is what Reddy had hoped for in 1999, to serve as Rabuka's deputy, informing us that Fiji was NOT ready for an Indo-Fijian Prime Minister. It seems NFP's Biman Prasad is replaying the same music in 2022. Reddy, Rabuka, Mandela and d'Klerk's were no Mahatma Gandhi, who died penniless and without power or property. Like Mandela, d'Klerk and Reddy, Gandhi was a lawyer. Where is Jai Ram Reddy? Sitiveni Rabuka is a wolf in a fake Tapa Cloth, remote controlled by his handlers until the election is over.

PROTECTING Elections Office: Saneem reminds us of S144A of Electoral Act about 'Falsehood' and Public Confidence in HIM and Commission. Was Saneem aware Suresh Chandra's firm misused $2m clients funds?

RESIGNATION Fijileaks: Our own headline regarding FLP's Facebook posting had a question mark: SANEEM RESIGNS? FLP should have waited before it ran the story. We will be revealing those dud cheques and payments to Suresh Chandra which is mired in secrecy
* Meanwhile, both the Italian University and Mohammed Saneem are not releasing his online MA Thesis for a rigorous examination. For he claims he compared how his Office handled the 2006 and 2018 Elections?
* Did Saneem use insider materials to write up his thesis? He can't be judge in his own case. If he wants public confidence, he MUST make his thesis public? Normally, a "ghost" reviewier familiar with the topic, in this case relating to politics and elections in Fiji, should have been requested to read Saneem's thesis.
* In the case of his Master and Election Minister Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, in 2000, our Editor was asked to comment on Khaiyum's University of Hong Kong thesis for his Masters in Law. Khaiyum was in Hong Kong, writing up his thesis when Speight had seized the Chaudhry led government, holding the MPs hostage for 52 days. His supervisor was Professor Yash Ghai. Khaiyum's thesis was aprroved for submission, and he passed and returned to Fiji.
* Saneem must explain why he didn't release the 2014 Donor List that contains donors donating twice (Peng etc).
* What about High Court judgment that he defied his own Electoral Commission. And, that he didn't have 15 years of legal experience when he was appointed Supervisor of Elections

GLOBAL Academics to Honour Professor Brij Lal - His Life and Legacies Professor Lal to Fijileaks: 'During his Four Years at ANU, Ashwin Raj had NOT written a single chapter of his PhD Thesis, NOT a SINGLE chapter.'

16/1/2022

The late Brij Lal to Our Editor on his former student ASHWIN RAJ,
25 March 2015:
'During all that time, he (Raj) kept on pontificating to others. In the end, he became an irritation and a source of embarrassment here (ANU) and had to pack up and return to Fiji.'

BEATING AROUND THE BUSH
'He couldn't hack it as a junior lecturer and so joined the academic bureaucracy at USP. Before too long, he joined the chorus of coup supporters. He has no moral spine; he will change his tune to suit the occasion. Blaming others for his shortcomings is his modus operandi.
Keep up the fantastic work you are doing. You are indispensible to the struggle for democracy in Fiji.' Best Brij

BOOTED OUT OF AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
Thanks for all your support. I do not normally respond to attacks on me, but this is for you to use however you wish to put the record straight on him. Ashwin Raj says he walked away from ANU.
* The truth is that in four years, he had not written a single chapter of his thesis, not a single chapter. During all that time, he kept on pontificating to others. In the end, he became an irritation and a source of embarrassment here. He says that I wasn't competent enough to supervise him.
* Did he ever complain about this to anyone? Why couldn't he choose an alternative supervisor. My competence as a supervisor was honoured by the ANU with a 'Top Supervisor Award, 2010," not an inconsiderable achievement. Any one of my students can be contacted for confirmation.
* Not me, but Ashwin Raj did not have what it takes to complete a competent thesis.
* He says he was trained by Gyatri Spivak. What a load of nonsense. He did his MA at University of Hawaii, and took only one course from Spivak when she was visiting there. Raj is an incorrigable name-dropper.
* He couldn't hack it as a junior lecturer and so joined the academic bureaucracy at USP. Before too long, he joined the chorus of coup supporters. He has no moral spine; he will change his tune to suit the occasion. Blaming others for his shortcomings is his modus operandi.
Keep up the fantastic work you are doing. You are indispensible to the struggle for democracy in Fiji. Best Brij

ASHWIN RAJ to Fijileaks: March 2015

Picture
Picture
PictureAshwin Raj
Under international human rights law, a state cannot refuse entry of its own citizens but has every right to do so to foreign nationals in accordance with its Immigration laws. Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Director, Ashwin Raj, clarified that Professor Brij Lal held a Fijian passport which expired in June 1993. Professor Lal did not apply for renewal after the expiry of the Fijian passport and he held American (since 1993) and Australian passports since 1995. Records from the Department of Immigration show that he is a former Fiji citizen and did not apply for dual citizenship but continued to hold Australian and American passports. Dual citizenship for Fiji came into effect on 10 April 2009. According to the record, Professor Lal chose not to hold Fijian citizenship and therefore effectively forfeited certain rights that citizens of Fiji invariably enjoy as his entry into Fiji as a non-citizen is subject to Fiji’s immigration laws.

Fijileaks: We have no quarrel with Raj's statement but what right Sitiveni Qiliho had to torture the late Professor Brij Vilash Lal? We had privately expressed our disappointment to NFP leader Biman Prasad over his mass hysteria
during the condolence service for Brij Lal. We argued that just because the late Lal had made great contribution to Indenture scholarship, it shouldn't be the ground for preferential treatment. The FOCUS should have been on banning order against Lal and his wife Padma. But Prasad turned it into election issue. We pointed out to Prasad that we found it odd that Brij Lal had even bought a property in Suva in 2010 and was planning to retire to Fiji when he was not yet a Fiji citizen. For academic reasons, we do understand why Brij Lal held on to his Australian citizenship. After all, Mara and Rabuka governments didn't want Indo-Fijians who fled to hold dual citizenship. Lal had not fled Fiji in 1987. Moreover, at the condolence service Prasad didn't question what right Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho had to take Brij Lal into custody, beat Lal up, and threaten him to leave Fiji the next day otherwise his body would have to be fetched from a mortuary. Prasad was aware of Lal's affidavit that we had revealed regarding the torture at Qiliho's hands. Once the late Brij Lal asked me if I knew my ancestral roots in India. I told him, "Bro, despite all your scholarship on indenture and the coolies, the answer is NO.  I have no idea where they originated in British India, and I have no interest after two centuries to even bother, for India is some strange land. Like our family, thousands of Indo-Fijians can not trace their roots. Your books are too expensive, anyway. My surname is Lal. So was my father's surname. His father was Ram Bharos (Kabir Panth). His father was some pseudo brahmin Govind Maharaj, according to family tales, and the trail goes cold. That is why I have always implored Indo-Fijians to be Fijians. Fiji and not India must come first. Our links with India should be Curry, Sari and Diwali. I am as Fijian as any other person born in Fiji. We must, on the other hand, never forget our Girmit roots and our contribution to our BELOVED Fiji.'
RIP, late Professor Brij Vilash Lal. Our fight for 'FIji: The Way The World Should Be' will be restored

'We will visit India and see the sights but, in our hearts, we know we belong somewhere else': Professor Brij Lal

SANEEM RESIGNS? If FLP's claim that Saneem has resigned as Election Superviser following FLP, Unity Fiji and Freedom Alliance letters of ROT at FEO, then Rabuka and Prasad must GO, for refusing to sign the letters

15/1/2022

Fijileaks: Aiyaz Khaiyum's response was before FLP went public on its Facebook.
What was the allegation? The allegation was that Electoral Commission chairman Suresh Chandra had been picking thousands of dollars through submission of false claims for sitting allowances when the commission was not sitting.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem facilitated this abuse. He was issuing CASH cheques to pay for these claims – in blatant contravention of FEO regulations.  Both these executives were regarded as grossly lacking in integrity, independence and impartiality -and therefore major impediments to the conduct of free and fair elections in 2022.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem has resigned following allegations of abuse of office made against him by the Fiji Labour Party and its two cooperation partners Freedom Alliance and Unity Fiji.

This is still unofficial news but we are very reliably informed that the Fijian Elections office staff held a farewell party for him on Friday.

We of course take full credit for this highly welcome development which comes close on the heels of the resignation by the chairman of the Electoral Commission Suresh Chandra also following allegations by the three political parties.

Labour Party had written to the Auditor General and FICAC last week asking for a follow up on their investigations against Mohammed Saneem, putting renewed pressure on them to act.

Picture
Picture
The three parties had written to the two investigating authorities on 20th December calling for an investigation into Saneem when the chairman of the Constitutional Services Commission ( the Prime Minister) failed to act on their allegations in a letter sent to him on 18 November. Suresh Chandra had resigned the next day without giving any reasons.

What was the allegation? The allegation was that Suresh Chandra had been picking thousands of dollars through submission of false claims for sitting allowances when the commission was not sitting.

Labour is proud to have forced their removal ahead of the elections. A job that should really have been done by the current Parliamentary opposition.
