CHARAN's Chamchas? In another shocking perceived cronyism, two Fiji-born Indo-Fijian New Zealanders are drafting framework for setting up of all important Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs. Who are two 'CHAMCHAS'?

The two consultants. Rajendra Prasad (left) and Radhe Nand (right) with Charan Jeath Singh

*We were expecting the composition of the TEAM to be diverse, reflecting the multi-racial character of the country. Shockingly, we have two NZ based individuals - Dr Rajendra Prasad and a lawyer named Radhe Nand as consultants, funded by the New Zealand government.
*Prasad is a former race relations commissioner in NZ, followed by two terms as a Labour Member of Parliament, who was never given a Ministerial position.
*Nand seems to be 'a back street lawyer' with no experience in multi-ethnic affairs. While Prasad has been away, in NZ, for some 60 years, Nand migrated to NZ in 1982. In his LinkedIn profile he claims that he led a student march against the 1987 Rabuka COUPS.
*The Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs must NOT be treated as some sort of a 'talking shop' for Indo-Fijians.
*With the indecent i-Taukeinization in full swing, the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs must be created as a counter-weight to the Ministry of I-Taukei Affairs.
*And non i-Taukei Fijians (with the exception of Rotumans) who are excluded from the Vola Ni Kawa Bula must ensure that they play a key role in the setting of the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs, and not meekly accept proposals from two Indo-Fijian 'Kiwis' and Charan's Chamchas.
*That Graham Leung chap, instead of running around Fiji and abroad to revive the GCC, should have been involved with other non-Itaukei Fijians in the setting up of the new Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs.

The new Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs will not be for “scholarships”

This was stressed by Dr Rajendra Prasad, a former Fiji resident and social policy expert from New Zealand who is working on the framework for the new ministry.

He said the misconception was that the ministry would focus on scholarships or resume activities of the previous multi-ethnic ministry.

Dr Prasad said they had consultations with various stakeholders in Fiji, including representative and heads from the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, leaders of various ethnic groups, the head of the vanua, head of the State and business committees from the Central, Western, Northern and Eastern parts of Fiji.

According to Dr Prasad, they had received feedback on the culture of silence, leadership, data collection, and providing a place for different ethnic groups to voice their issues and concerns.

When asked if the ministry’s role will be to foster ethnic cooperation, Dr Prasad said it would, and added that it would also promote social cohesion and inclusiveness.

Another consultant, Radhe Nand, said they wanted to promote integration of ethnic groups as pluralism was already present in Fiji and this concept was enshrined in the daily lives of citizens.

He used the example of Diwali and said it was celebrated by all rather than just the ethnic Hindu group.

They also stated that the ministry and setting up of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission were two separate things.

Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs said they were expecting the two consultants to return to Fiji with a completed report, which would form the basis of workshops with a number of communities, organisations and individuals to fine-tune the framework.

“It is anticipated that once this is completed, we will proceed at speed to approve the work program of the new ministry and launch it as a fully-fledged new ministry that all ethnic communities can be proud of as a port of call for having their unique needs addressed,” he said.

“More than 40 consultations have been undertaken in Suva, Nadi, Lautoka and Labasa with a wide range of individuals and organisations.”

TALO, IN THE EYE OF THE STORM. KETAN LAL, there is nothing wrong after a hard day's slog during disasters to wind down with bowl of grog. Lifting the Curtain, on Ketan - recall your RELAXING massage at the FNU

15/11/2023

*We are hardy grog drinkers, and it takes a long time to feel its effects.
*As long as we can remember, there was always a tanoa for grog in the Office, Parliament, and even for a quick bowl for court judges. TALO!
*The worst guzzlers are Indo-Fijians (Kanikani lot), especially before and after funeral gatherings, and during religious activities.
*Ketan, chill out - you should have been up there, helping out.
*Go, get a good new MASSAGE from your Mystic Masseurs.
*We have no doubt that those who had locked themselves inside their houses, waiting for the cyclone, were grog doped to their eyeballs.

HOWLING WIND OF PROTEST. As Fiji battens down for CYLCONE, many Indo-Fijians (mostly Hindus) complain to us that Sitiveni Rabuka did not send the Prime Minister's customary HAPPY DIWALI greetings to Hindus

'Hindus and Muslims are PAGANS who must be converted to Christianity, for if we don't convert them, we will all become PAGANS in Fiji.'

THE DEVILS from 1987. They turned Fiji into a racist, satanic Christian hell in paradise. Kubuabola was President of the Fiji Council of Churches and Secretary of the Bible Society of the South Pacific, making a living selling Bibles to other Pacific Island populations. He was the key co-coup conspirator with Rabuka and other i-Taukei Movement members

Picture

*It was Kubuabola who first termed the extreme i-Taukei nationalist organisation as the Taukei Movement.

*According to Kubuabola, 11 May was the day his co-conspirators decided to proceed with the coup.

*It was changed to 14 May 1987.
'We changed the coup to Thursday on Wednesday night in my office at the Bible Society with Rabuka.'

DAYLIGHT ROBBERS. Travel allowance abroad and within Fiji MUST be scrapped. Biman Prasad has already pocketted $100,000 (and he dished out $200,000 to his wife, Ganesh Chand during Girmit Day celebrations)

13/11/2023

*COUPIST Sitiveni Rabuka who bankrupted the National Bank of Fiji has already banked over $200,000 tax-free in travel allowance since becoming Prime Minister in the three-legged wobbly scooter Coalition government.
*We don't see any logic in paying out Travel Allowance if the trip and expenses abroad are paid for by the Fijian taxpayers or the host country.
*We don't see any reason whatsoever why Rabuka and his Ministers and Assistant Ministers should be paid daily allowances for going on tours around Fiji.
*Why should these DAYLIGHT ROBBERS be collecting $3,400 daily while abroad, and reportedly $300 while roaming around the country.
*The obscene sums cannot be justified. In many instances, they don't even have time to go around sightseeing or visiting brothels.
So, why should these Daylight Robbers be collecting travel allowances?
*In many cases, we notice their spouses are with them, and when questioned, they angrily respond that she or he paid their own airfares?
*These swindlers of the public purse think we are dumb ass. Of course the spouses might or might not have paid their own airfares.
*But the daily travel allowances cancel out the spouses expenses.
*We repeat - the Travel Allowances MUST BE SCRAPPED altogether.

LAMU, NO WAY. SODELPA general secretary Viliame Takayawa cancels appearing on Sashi Singh's Talking Point because he was still in west setting up the 'Descendants of Indentured Labour Sodelpa branch' in Ra

SSTP's Facebook poster 'PULLS OUT' should have given reason why Takayawa 'pulled out' from Sunday, 12th November program.
*E-mail exchanges cited by Fijileaks between Sashi Singh and SODELPA make it clear that the scheduled interview was a 'touch and go' matter.
*I note that you are travelling to Ra on Saturday. I respectably suggest that at least an hour and a half before the 12 noon start, that is at 10.30am Fiji time, that you do a test run with me. Please text me via Messenger when you are ready for the text run. I will then enter the studio. This test run is important to ensure that the sound video image, your positioning during the interview etc, is all in sync. It would be an absolute pleasure interviewing you and sharing your thoughts and views on things important to Fijians.
*I will shortly send you a list of suggested topics for our discussion. After you have received the topics, I will be happy to discuss the same with you. I also invite you to suggest any specific topic that you would like to discuss as well.'

SS Show Back on AIR. Sashi Singh's Talking Point another cynical ploy for BIMAN PRASAD to appear on the SS SHOW to redeem himself. A rookie journalist could have asked those questions to Prasad in street

7/11/2023

*There were no questions to Prasad on the $200,000 he gave to his wife and Ganesh Chand during the Girmit celebrations
*No question on Fiji Water tax concession.
*No question on the cost to Fiji Airways flying 'Pilgrims' into Israel, and later out of that country after the Hamas attack on 7 October.
*Expectedly, Prasad accused Indo-Fijians of being inverse 'racists'. When asked about the racially-based appointments, Prasad chose to repeat  Rabuka's line that 'those who are talking about race are racists themselves'.
*In 1980, while rejecting Ratu Mara's proposal for a 'Government of National Unity', Jai Ram Reddy complained that the Alliance Party run government had embarked on a systematic policy to staff the upper echelons of the government with i-Taukei personnel, while it publicly espoused a policy of multiracialism:
'While multi-racial is still espoused, it is now very much a matter of slogans. There is very little multiracialism at work. This is reflected in all aspects of government work and activities, from its composition, its development strategies, appointments to boards, promotions in the Civil Service, its Crown lands policy, everywhere.'

Labour wants FICAC to investigate Girmit funding

FLP’s Delegates Conference wants a complaint lodged with FICAC to investigate the $200,000 allocation to the Global Girmit Institute (GGI) for Girmit celebrations in May this year.

This follows allegations that moneys have been misused and that payments have been made to a discredited organization headed by the Finance Minister’s wife and his political associates.

The Conference in Nadi last Saturday noted that the investigation promised by Attorney General Siromi Toraga (Fiji Sun 16 May 2023) following concerns raised by the people, have not got off the ground some 6 months after it was announced.

Repeated calls for details of the expenditure for the Girmit celebrations, including the international Girmit conference organisaed by the GGI, have been ignored.

This is despite assurances by the Prime Minister as well as the Finance Minister that accounts would be released for public scrutiny following wide public concerns on the matter.

“Yes the matter will be taken up with FICAC as directed by the Conference,”said Labour Leader Mahendra Chaudhry.
FIJI WATER: Labour calls for inquiry into 7-year Tax Holiday

Labour is calling for an independent inquiry into the 7-year corporate tax exemption granted to the fully foreign-owned company Fiji Water in the 2023/24 Budget.

The inquiry should also examine how the company was granted unlimited extraction licence against the advice of regulatory authorities which had recommended that a limit be placed on extraction to preserve the ground water table at sustainable levels.

This was one of four resolutions passed by the Party’s Delegates Conference last Saturday.

The conference noted with concern that three months before the Budget was tabled, Prime Minister Rabuka was hosted as a special guest of the owners of Fiji Water in Los Angeles, United States.

“The controversial concessions to this highly successful foreign company have not been satisfactorily explained by the Prime Minister or the Finance Minister.

“This raises serious questions of transparency and accountability,” the Party said.

“Many in the business community have expressed concern about the decision and its implications on tax equity and fiscal responsibility,” the resolution said.

SCROUNGER on DISABILITY BENEFITS to CHAIR, Fiji Sugar Corporation Nitya Reddy denies claims that until he joined FSC he was scrounging on benefits in Auckland. He is backed by Sugar Minister Charan Jeath Singh

6/11/2023

*We received several messages that Nitya Reddy was recently reported to the NZ Ministry of Work and Income Department when some Auckland residents read that he had been appointed as Chair, FSC. 'How can this man suddenly and miraculously be back on his feet, and take up the chair of the FSC, travelling to Fiji and maybe accompany Charan to overseas meetings? He has been claiming disability benefits in New Zealand.'
*
As is our practice, we put the claims to Sugar Minister Charan Jeath Singh who sent us his response via Viber, published below.
"It is a completely false and malicious lie."

STICKING BOOT INTO BAINIMARAMA and QILIHO on 2 NOVEMBER 2023 As the RFMF was holding 23rd anniversary of Bloody Mutiny and loss of life, the illegal acting DPP Rabuku filed appeal against the two's acquittal

CONFLICT OF INTEREST: As Grubsheet points, "Before he was appointed Acting DPP, Rabuku was Sitiveni Qiliho’s counsel during the police interviews that led to his prosecution. And the question now being asked in legal circles is how could he be sitting as DPP and not only sanction the appeal but sign the appeal petition? out, Before he was appointed Acting DPP, Rabuka was Sitiveni Qiliho’s counsel during the police interviews that led to his prosecution. *That all of the evidence of both the 1st and 2nd respondents (Bainimarama and Qiliho)…be ruled inadmissible and expunged from the record.
*That…the court reverses the orders of acquittal…and substitutes them with orders of conviction.
*That the…magistrate be ordered to proceed to mitigation and sentencing of both the 1st and 2nd respondent.
