Crash News Blackout: Its nearly a year and still silence from Fiji Police if the Fijian Media Association chair, MaiTV Fiji boss Simpson, charged with careless driving, dealt with by the courts. Vijay Narayan was Passenger

*So apparently, when ordinary people get charged with careless driving, it’s a headline.
*But when it’s Stanley Ian Simpson, the secretary-general of the Fijian Media Association and boss of Mai TV Fiji, involved in a traffic accident that injured another driver and passenger, suddenly Fiji’s newsroom warriors discover the art of silence.
*According to a Totogo Police Station report (03 Feb 2025), Simpson was at fault for a collision on Vuya Road, pulling out from Suva Grammar’s driveway into another car.

*The other driver, an Indo-Fijian businessman and his passenger wife were injured, and are still struggling to recover from their injuries.
*Police charged Simpson with careless driving (Traffic Infringement No. 5047076). To date, the businessman has not been updated by the Fiji Police nor is he aware if Simpson has been dealt with by the courts.
*Yet not a whisper from the very same media voices who never miss a chance to lecture the public about transparency and accountability.

*So here’s the question: If this had been an ordinary Savenaca or Sami,  would the same “ethical silence” apply?
*In Fiji, it seems even traffic laws bend politely when the Fourth Estate is behind the wheel. And Vijay Narayan is the passenger.
*According to the Indo-Fijian businessman, it was Narayan who approached the couple and wondered if they were allright.
