FNUGATE. Whistleblowers express shock at the appointment of JOTAME Halofaki as Acting Director of IT Services at FNU. 'Halofaki holds only a Diploma when job requires BA degree. Personal connection at play here'

31/7/2024

The FNU Whistleblowers allege to Fijileaks:
* Halofaki, who was previously serving as Manager IT Client, has now been promoted to Acting Director ITS.
*It is important to note that Mr. Halofaki holds only a diploma, whereas the standard requirements for the Manager position include a bachelor's degree, and the Director role typically demands a postgraduate degree such as a Master’s.
*A person Not Considered to be a Manager is now being given an Acting Director Post. This appointment raises concerns about potential bias within the IT Department.
*It appears that Halofaki's promotion may have been allegedly influenced by personal connections, notably his relationship with the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Corporate Services, rather than based solely on merit. *This situation is particularly troubling given that other qualified candidates, including Ashwani Kumar and Ashwani Arora, all of whom possess relevant degrees and postgraduate qualifications, were not considered for this role.
*Such decisions not only undermine the meritocratic process but also potentially compromise the effectiveness and future direction of the FNU IT Department.
*The lack of experience and qualifications for this critical role could have detrimental effects on the department’s performance and overall IT services. It is crucial for institutions to adhere to transparent and fair hiring practices to ensure that the most qualified individuals are selected for key positions.
*This will not only foster a more equitable work environment but also contribute to the effective management of essential services.
*We hope this issue will be addressed with the seriousness it warrants, and that FNU will take steps to ensure that future appointments are made based on merit and qualifications.
