HAPPY DIWALI. Our pursuit of Fiji's 'Ravanas' will continue after Diwali. Malimali: "While we celebrate Diwali, we must acknowledge the need to light darker corners of our society, which are covered with Corruption."

1/11/2024

"Hanumanji or also known as Bajrang Bali, a devotee of Lord Rama, uses his intelligence and resourcefulness to uncover the truth about Ravana's evil deeds. Similarly, our investigators dig deep into the muddy waters of corruption, determined to bring the perpetrators to justice."
FICAC Commissioner BARBARA MALIMALI, Diwali Message, October 2024

RAVANA ON THE RUN

Picture

"While we celebrate Diwali, it is imperative to acknowledge the need to light the darker corners of our society, which are covered with corruption. Corruption, a persistent and insidious threat, undermines the very foundations of our nation. It erodes trust, hinders development, and exacerbates inequality. It affects the resources meant for public welfare, depriving the most vulnerable of essential services. The consequences of corruption are far-reaching, affecting every aspect of our lives, from healthcare and education to infrastructure and governance. In the spirit of Diwali, let us commit ourselves to the eradication of corruption. The FICAC family, Diwali, and especially Lord Rama conveys an important message to us: the Anti-Corruption Agency must fight for justice. Just as Lord Rama embodies the principles of righteousness, as an anti-corruption agency, FICAC and every FICAC Officer is a champion of ethical conduct and fair play. Lord Rama's strong determination to uphold truth and justice mirrors the resolute commitment of anti-corruption agencies to root out corruption, no matter the obstacles or challenges. Lord Rama inspires us to follow his path of righteousness. Similarly, an effective anti-corruption agency sets an example for others to emulate by encouraging transparency, accountability, and ethical behavior."

Bula Vinaka, Namaste, As-salamu alaykum, aur aap sabhi ko a very Good Morning. jaisa ki Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption (FICAC) parivaar aaj ek saath Diwali manaane ke lie ikattha hua hai, jo roshanee, prosperity aur buraee par achchhaee kee jeet ka tyohaar hai, aaie ham corruption kee vyaapak chhaaya par vichaar karen jo hamaare samaaj ko pareshaan karatee rahatee hai. Jab ham Diwali manaate hain, to hamaare samaaj ke andhere corner ko roshan karane kee aavashyakata ko sveekaar karana anivaary hai, jo corruption se covered hain. Corruption, ek satat aur kapatee khatara, hamaare desh kee foundation ko kamajor karata hai.

Yah vishvaas ko khatm karata hai, vikaas mein baadha daalata hai aur inequality ko badhaata hai. Yah saarvajanik kalyaan ke lie banae gae sansaadhanon ko prabhaavit karata hai, sabase kamjor logon ko aavashyak sevaon se vanchit karata hai. Corruption ke parinaam dooragaamee hain, jo hamaare jeevan ke har pahaloo ko prabhaavit karate hain, healthcare se lekar education, infrastructure aur governance tak ko affect karta hai. Diwali kee bhaavana mein, aaie ham corruption ke unmoolan ke lie khud ko pratibaddh karen. FICAC parivaar, Diwali aur khaas taur par bhagavaan Ram hamen ek mahatvapoorn sandesh dete hain: Anti-Corruption Agency ko nyaay ke lie ladana chaahie. jis tarah bhagavaan Raam dhaarmikata ke siddhaanton ko apanaate hain, usee tarah Anti-Corruption Agency ke taur par FICAC aur har FICAC adhikaaree naitik aacharan aur nishpakshata ka himaayatee hai. Saty aur nyaay ko banae rakhane ke lie bhagavaan Ram ke strong sankalp Corruption ko jad se khatm karane ke lie Anti-Corruption Agency kee committment ko darshaata hai, chaahe kitnee bhee baadhaen ya chunautiyaan kyon na hon

Bhagavaan Ram hamen unake dhaarmik maarg par chalane ke lie prerit karate hain. Isee tarah, ek prabhaavee Anti-Corruption Agency paaradarshita, accountability aur naitik vyavahaar ko protsaahit karake doosaron ke lie anukaraneey udaaharan pesh karatee hai. Hanumaan jee ya Bajarang Bali, bhagavaan Ram ke bhakt hain, jo Raavan ke bure kaamon ke baare mein sachchaee ko ujaagar karane ke lie apanee buddhi aur kushalata ka upayog karate hain. Isee tarah, hamaare jaanchakarta bhrashtaachaar ke daldal mein gaharaee tak khudaee karate hain, aparaadhiyon ko nyaay ke kataghare mein laane ke lie strong sankalpit hain. Corruption ke khilaaph ladaee athak hai, prakaash aur andhakaar ke beech ek nirantar sangharsh hai. lekin aaie ham bhagavaan Ram aur unake bhakt Hanumaan jee kee strong bhaavana se prerana len, jo durgam baadhaon ke baavajood apane mishan mein adig rahe. Bhagavaan Ram aur Raavan ke beech mahaakaavy yuddh tha jo humei gayan deta hai kee humei bhi bhrashtaachaar ke khilaaph ek athak ladaee ka prateek hai. jaanch, pareekshan aur nirnay sahit kaanoonee kaaryavaahee ve hathiyaar hain jinaka upayog ham bhrashtaachaar se ladane aur nyaay bahaal karane ke lie karate hain. Raavan par bhagavaan Ram kee jeet buraee par achchhaee kee jeet ka prateek hai. Isee tarah, bhrashtaachaar ke maamale mein saphal abhiyojan nyaay aur kaanoon ke shaasan kee jeet ka pratinidhitv karata hai. Bhrashtaachaar ke khilaaph ladaee lambee aur kathin hai, lekin yah ladane laayak ladaee hai.

Ek saath kaam karake, ham ek aisa samaaj bana sakate hain jahaan eemaanadaaree, nishtha aur nishpakshata kaayam rahe. Diwali ke raat diya jalaane se andhera door hota hai. Usee tarah, aaie ham bhrashtaachaar mukt bhavishy kee or maarg roshan karen, jahaan har vyakti ko phalane-phoolane ka avasar mile. Jab ham Diwali manaate hain, to aaie ham apane dilon ko eemaanadaaree aur nishtha kee roshanee se roshan karen. Aaie ham vah badalaav laane ka sankalp len jo ham duniya mein dekhana chaahate hain. Aaie ham apane raashtr kee aatma ke sanrakshak banen aur ise bhrashtaachaar ke kapatee changul se bachaen. Bhagavaan Ram ka aasheervaad aur Hanuman ji kee divy krpa hamaare prayaason mein hamaara maargadarshan kare. Aaie ham ek aisa samaaj banaane ka prayaas karen jahaan nyaay kaayam ho, eemaanadaaree panape aur saty kee roshanee jagamagaatee rahe, theek vaise hee jaise ham sabhee Diwali kee raat bhagavaan Ram, unakee patnee seeta aur bhaee lakshman ke 14 saal ke vanavaas se lautane par unake svaagat mein deeye jalaate hain

In shabdon ke saath, main aap sabhee ko Diwali kee haardik shubhakaamanaen deti hoon. Apane parivaar aur doston ke saath mithaiyon aur vibhinn prakaar ke svaadisht vyanjanon ka aanand len aur yaad rakhen ki jab aap isaka aanand le rahe hon, to apana aur apane priyajanon, khaasakar hamaare bachchon ka khyaal rakhana na bhoolen. Aap sabhee ko divaalee kee shubhakaamanaen

As Lotus takes the spotlight during the Festival of Lights, it has generated short-term income for 23-year-old Kinisalote Nai and her family of Narere in Nasinu. Lotus is the symbol of prosperity, associated with the Goddess of Wealth Lakshmi. Nai who was selling lotus along Mark Street in Suva today says her family have been selling the flower during Diwali for almost a decade.  “Every Diwali, we sell lotus to generate income for our family. It has been eight years that I have been selling lotus. It is to buy food, especially for the children.” Nai says it has become an affair for the family, where both the children and family are involved with the harvest and sale of lotus to followers of Hinduism. She says they sell lotus for a dollar each and would generate over $200 a day.

The flower is used to worship during Puja for Laxmi on Diwali, and the demand from devotees has always provided short-term income during the Festival of Lights.
