SHARING IN LOTUS (LOOTOOS): A thorough forensic examination of the NFP leader Biman Prasad's finances raise questions about consideration he provided to Sunil Chand to get 33/50% shares in the Lotus companies

1/9/2024

*BIMAN PRASAD didn't share the identity of the two companies he held 33% and 50% shares respectively, and failed to reveal that he held 30% shares (albeit for few months) in Platinum Hotels and Resorts Ltd.
*It was only on 23 January 2024, as Minister for Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development, and Statistics, and as Deputy Prime Minister in Sitiveni Rabuka's Coalition government that he mentions the 'holy grail' name: LOTUS and the shares.
*We call on FICAC to establish from Prasad what was the consideration he provided to his first cousin Sunil Chand to become a joint director in Lotus Construction (Fiji) Ltd and Lotus Tours & Transfers Ltd (LTTL).
*Prasad claims in his declaration that LTTL is dormant. Really?
*FICAC must establish if the shares were a GIFT. If so, he should have stated in his declarations and revealed the identity of the two companies.
*He might have breached PPR s24(vi) regarding declaration of GIFTS.
