When will Inoke Kubuabola, the violent RACIST thug leader of the Taukei Movement in 1987, and now FijiFirst Party Foreign Minister,  APOLOGISE to the Indo-Fijians, native Fijians and other victims?

The French intelligence agent who led the deadly attack on the Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand 30 years ago has for the first time apologised for his actions.

Jean-Luc Kister told the TVNZ station that the action "resulted in the accidental death of an innocent man", photographer Fernando Pereira.

Greenpeace called for a Paris street to be named after Mr Pereira.

The ship was mined to stop Greenpeace protests against French nuclear tests.

The Rainbow Warrior on 10 July 1985 was due to sail to Mururoa atoll in French Polynesia where the tests were due to be conducted.

The BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris says it was one of the most notorious acts of state sabotage.

Media caption Jean-Luc Kister told TVNZ his part in the operation was "a big, big failure" Image caption The first of the two mines planted by Mr Kister punctured the hull of the Rainbow Warrior Image caption Portuguese photographer Fernando Pereira drowned as a result of the mine blasts The mines planted by Mr Kister, a naval frogman, sank the vessel in Auckland harbour, killing Mr Pereira.

Mr Kister told TVNZ's Sunday programme that it was not the aim of his team to kill anybody and that he wanted to say sorry to the family of Pereira, to Greenpeace members on board the vessel and to the people of New Zealand.

He said the destruction of the vessel was "disproportionate" and "an unfair, clandestine operation conducted in an allied, friendly and peaceful country".

"We had to obey orders, we were soldiers," he said.

Greenpeace said in a statement (in French) that Mr Kister's apology "will not bring Fernando back but proves once again that our colleague was sacrificed in the name of a state interest that even one of the state's servants is calling into question".

Mr Kister was working as part of a 12-man team for France's DGSE spy agency at the time of the attack.

France has apologised and paid damages for the bombing and in 1996 stopped the nuclear testing that initiated the Greenpeace protest.

Only two agents have stood trial over the attack - Dominique Prieur and Alain Mafart. They were arrested in New Zealand after the attack and sentenced to 10 years in jail for manslaughter.

However, a settlement meant that they were transferred to a base in French Polynesia and were released within two years. Source: BBC World News, 6 September 2015

David Robie's book, Eyes of Fire, tells the story of the last voyage of the original Rainbow Warrior, a Greenpeace campaign vessel bombed by French secret agents on 10 July 1985; Robie sailed with the Greenpeace crew on the Rainbow Warrior's last voyage.

And Ratu Inoke Kubuabola the racist thug of the 1987 coup was at that time a Bible carrying Christain Church official. So what did his religion teach him ? Racism and thuggery?

The NZ Green peace Rainbow Warrior bomber apologised for his terrorist act because notwithstanding the lapse of time his conscience troubled him. He knows what he did in the name of French nationalism was wrong and it caused death and grieve to innocent people who were simply fighting for a better world and a better humanity.
By contrast Ratu Inoke Kubuabola the Fijian ethno nationalist , racist and religious bigot, and terrorist thug has no troubled conscience. That's why no apology will come from him. His plan was to perch himself in power by hook and crook and he has done that very successfully not only by taking a piggy back ride on first coupster Rabuka but on the backs of all subsequent coupsters. It is no coincidence that this political scoundrel is today Foreifn Minister in coupster Bainimarama's " multiracial " , counterfeit democracy.

I am a victim of the 1987 coup and the reign of terror unleashed by Ratu Inoke Kubuabola's racist thugs. But I am not waiting for any apology from Ratu Inoke because it won't be worth shit. That man is just a political skunk with no moral compass. He is a leopard who has not changed his spot but is today masquerading as a member of the coupist Bainimarama's " multiracial " government because it is politically expedient to sing this new tune.

Most of us, as we age, and after having experienced, the many difficulties and trials of life, we mellow and realization comes that during our younger days, our wildness and waywardness, which were our predominant characters then, had enslaved us.

Time is a wonderful teacher and age a true ingredient for our experiences. If Bainimarama, Khaiyum, Kubuabola, Rabuka, and those like them will live to reach their 80s and 90s, they will not be like what they are now. They will soften because they will realize that they cannot control time and will never be able to change what their younger successors will establish.

Yes Maropito. Thank you friends for your comments and your interest and efforts to share the truth. The truth is enlightening and helps people see their way out of the darkness of ignorance and indifference. The truth is empowering, for it can provide us the moral strength to take a stand against injustice, evil and immorality. The truth is liberating for those who are imprisoned and under various kinds of mental and spiritual bondage. The truth is calming and soothing providing peace of mind to those who may be down and out in those valleys and dark shadows of fear, doubt and anxiety of every type and degree. But the truth is also a powerful force that condemns and tortures those who chose to defy, ignore and undermine it. Because the truth is not subject to man, rather, humanity is subject to it. It is a divine phenomenon, an eternal reality, and an attribute of God Almighty. That is why, great minds and souls such as Winston Churchill have said, "

The truth is incontrovertible. malice may distort it, ignorance may deride it, but there it stands."

Inoke Kubuabola knows the truth and is constantly haunted by the truth, no matter how much he tries to show otherwise. Outwardly, he may put on a façade of calm and tranquillity, but you can be certain that deep inside him, he can never shut out the voices of guilt, shame, and fear of God's sure displeasure and impending judgement upon him, his cronies, his family and his regime.

Inoke Kubuabola is an interesting character study. Characters like him, Rabuka, Bole, Voreqe, Khaiyum, Bala and more should be the subject of serious study, which should be published in a book to be included as part of literature and texts for our high school students in Fiji and the Pacific. The book could be appropriately titled, and I suggest that "Power Corrupts the Best to Produce the Worst: A Nation is Condemned Because of The Few"

Talking about Siti Rabuka, the best he could do is to confront Voreqe, Inoke and Khaiyum, and publicly condemn their actions and the blatant and undisguised sham of a democracy that we currently have. I am sure, that if Rabuka dares to do this out of his solemn duty to our nation and as recompense of his selfish and callous actions in 1987, thousands of our citizens here and abroad will forgive him, and gladly follow him to restore our nation to a path towards genuine democracy where all our people of Fiji, regardless of race, ethnicity, colour or creed, are treated with the respect, justice and righteousness they deserve. That would be the fastest and surest way of eliminating Inoke Kubuabola and other most cunning and evil characters from our current political scene . It is also the best political strategy to achieving Rabuka's political aspiration.

Good points, but I have to disagree about your scenario of a resurgent and 'restored' Rabuka coming to the rescue of Fiji to eliminate the likes of Kabuabola etc. He is indelibly etched forever in the minds of the Fiji public as a destroyer of democracy and we should not look back and recycle old politicians to chart our way forward into the future. Lets look for new talent and fresh ideas.

This recycling of older and opportunistic politicians like Rabuka and others (Yavala, Baba etc) who present in different political garbs according to the times, is part of the 'coup culture' that we are trying to get rid of. Thats why I disagree totally with what Sakiusa Raivoce said as reported in the Fiji Sun.

It shows how low their leadership stocks are if all they can do is recycle older failed politicians to take us forward.

Rabuka has had his five minutes in the sunshine and should retire with decorum and grace, rather than trying to fight political battles based on old ideas that caused much damage to Fiji.

I agree @ King Rat. We need to move away from the coup culture and that would have to be a process that takes time, re-education and a lot of resources and commitment.

However, we have to deal with the ugly and costly menace of these evil characters such as Inoke Kubuabola in a pragmatic and effective way. Fiji cannot afford to have these people in leadership, simply because it is absolutely wrong and the costs far outweigh the benefits. This pragmatic strategy may call on a person of Rabuka's experience to play an active role. It would also gel with Rabuka's personal ambition.

Rabuka's return to politics may not necessarily mean our acceptance of his return to national leadership. But as I implied in my final sentence above, he would have to do something more daring, outstanding and absolutely good for the nation to win back the credibility and appreciation he so desperately needs. But as far as his political aspirations go, he must show genuine remorse and total regret and a turning away from his 1987 self to achieve success.

The least Rabuka can do now (as he should have done all along) is to stand by his/ours/Peoples’ 1997 Constitution of Fiji – and the rule of law.

The imposed FRAUD 2013 Constitution of Fiji is Khaiyum’s Constitution of Fiji and the rule of law under that Constitution is Khaiyum’s rule of law ---exactly like it was Rabuka’s 1990 Constitution of Rabuka.

Editor,
Please allow me to share this excellent letter on the Rainbow Warrior apology with Fijileaks followers who might not be reading the Sydney Morning Herald.
Chris Heay writes in his letter ' Rainbow apology late ' ( smh 9/9 ) , " I was bemused to read that Jean- Luc Kister has apologised 30 years after the event ( " We had to obey, says Rainbow Warrior soldier ", Sept 8). A little late if you ask me : moreover that defence was given the short shift at the Nuremberg trials following World War 11 . Of course the real criminal was the French government which ordered the attack and then trampled on New Zealand to release its operatives who had killed Fernando Pereira all in the name of poisoning the South Pacific biosphere with its nuclear ambitions."
I couldn't agree more.
Chris speaks for the thousands of anti- nuclear activists who campaigned and protested against French nuclear testing in the South Pacific.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu
