His comment comes after National Federation Party’s General Secretary, Jagannath Sami had stated during a Talanoa Session that NFP parliamentarians Biman Prasad, Parmod Chand and Prem Singh can be called the Trimurti which are the three Hindu Gods.

Lal says they will discuss this matter in a meeting and see whether any action will be taken.

He says this act has brought disrepute to their religion and is requesting political parties to do away with this.

Jagannath Sami had made these remarks while introducing Prasad, Chand and Singh at the Rishikul Sanatan College and likened them to three Hindu Gods.

When contacted, NFP’s Leader Professor Biman Prasad says Sami had never said that the three NFP parliamentarians are equivalent to God.

He says Sami was just acknowledging the contribution of the three NFP parliamentarians.

Prasad says when people quote from religious scriptures to make a point, it does not mean they are using religion or they are portraying people as Gods. Source: Fijivillage News, 20 September 2017

Fijileaks: We do not hold NFP general secretary Jagannath Sami in high esteem when it comes to him officiating as MOC (Messier of Ceremonies) and some of his comments on other peoples Facebook postings make one question his political judgments.

"The Hindus and Muslims are pagans who must be converted to Christianity. It will be a big challenge for us to convert all Indians. Those who do not choose to become Christians can continue to live here but they will probably find that is a difficult place to live in. We are trying to make this place perfect for the Fijian people, and if it is not perfect for others then that is too bad. They will have to go."

Did the Assistant Minister's " private " donation to Hindu temple committee come out of her pocket or from State funds?
Using the resources of the State to solicit votes will again be the FFP's way of conducting a " free and fair " election in 2018 just as they did in 2014.

Mark my word : " private " donations from public funds will be made to Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Indians, Fijians, Rotumans, Kailomas by the Fiji First Theft Party to buy votes to stay in power.
They can't afford not being in power. If they are not in power some of them will be in jail!!!

Virendra Lal is a disgrace and spoiling Santan Fijis name and reputation. He remains quiet when bainimarama and kaiyum are treated like god and pollute the temple environment but jumps up and down on non-issues. Hypocrite lal should resign and join kaiyums masipolo club

The Sabha itself is acting in a partisan and unprecedented way. It should always remain above politics as it has been up until now through the statement of its general secretary. One wonders if his statement was authorised or was he speaking in a personal capacity?
Hinduism does not belong to the Sabha. It belongs to everyone of its believers. There is no thought Police to determine what is right and wrong.
If Samu did make that comment it was a figure of speech, a metaphor or simile likening someone to a religious symbol.
When the current and past Prime Ministers visit hindu ceremonies and dsubed eith saffron and marigold and their feet are washed is that using religion for political purposes? Almost all politicians around the world use examples from religion in their speeches. Jai Ram Reddy, M,. P, Chaudhry and previous Hindu leaders of history, like all good orators, are skilled users of metaphoric language that includes use of religious imagery. I don't see anything wrong with this as it enhances people's understanding. Communication is about sending out a message in a way that is best understood by an audience. If religious examples are used to enhance understanding so as to make informed choices then that is good. That is far better than an assistant Ministef engaging in cheque book diplomacy by blatantly handing out a cheque to a Hindu temple. That is clearly a bribe.

Sabha doesn’t like ‘trimurthi’ but ‘doimurthi’ of baikai.

I am pretty sure that photo of Assistant Minister Bhatnagar is a hoax. It's an old photo of Imelda Marcos doing vote buying for her husband dictator Ferdinand Marcos . The Hindus in the photo are Muslims in the Philippines.

I feel the same way as Fijileaks about Jaganath Sami in so far as his role as MoC is concerned. Jaganath is a good man, an honest man who means well for the people of Fiji . BUT he is not charismatic. He is not dynamic. And he is not particularly politically articulate. The NFP needs someone with these qualities in that role. I am sure Jaganath being the modest humble person he is would be happy to relinguish that role to a person better suited to it.

Is 'dynamism' really so important at this time? Honesty and Integrity of Purpose are the requisite needs in this role. Good health and energy too. But people are tired of being goaded and conned year after year. Manic disposition and moody surliness masking vicious, mindless aggression coupled with deeply insulting language are all too familiar over decades. Back-handing petitioners who come to seek assistance and advice as happened in Labasa to a middle aged
Japanese lady almost six years ago is NOT a requirement for elected office anywhere in the civilised and democratic world. This lady was thrust to the ground in front of dozens of onlookers. The perpetrator of this assault was appointed and drafted in from the military to a position which required courtesy and patience. So a mild and well-mannered, humane disposition is essential to dispel memories of this kind? What impression must these overseas investors have received by such treatment? They were outraged and dismayed at their predicament. Their calls for assistance demonstrated despair and utter disenchantment.
