Russian arms shipment causes ‪#‎alarm‬

The arrival of a huge shipment of Russian arms into the country in a highly surreptitious manner is a matter of grave public concern.

It was obviously the intention of the Bainimarama government to ‪#‎smuggle‬ the consignment into the country unbeknown to the people.

We should consider ourselves fortunate that Opposition MP Ratu Isoa Tikoca exposed this nefarious plot through his intelligence sources.

According to a statement issued by him yesterday, the consignment includes a helicopter and ‪#‎armoured‬ vehicles among other dangerous weapons.

Once exposed, government was quick to explain it away as a gift from Russia to be used for our peace keepers abroad. But why did we seek such a gift in the first place?

Our peace keeping force is equipped by the United Nations and the weapons they use are deployed away from our shores. Why do we need to bring in a shipload of such arms into Fiji?

‪#‎What‬ precisely is the agenda here?

The highly ‪#‎clandestine‬ nature of the arms shipment has grave implications for our national security and the safety of our people.

The ‪#‎RFMF‬ is now viewed by many as a very politicised institution, serving first and foremost the interests of the high command of the FF government. We have had two Bainimarama appointed commanders in less than two years, since he left.

The first, Tikoitoga who replaced him was forced out barely 12 months later to be replaced by Naupoto whose appointment itself has created much controversy.

This is the first time in our history that such a huge shipment of arms, has been brought into Fiji from a ‪#‎communist‬ country.

FLP demands a full disclosure on the contents of the 20 containers of arms and a truthful answer as to why they are needed. The Russian link to this whole episode of arms shipping is alarming in itself.

The Russian arms are for Russian use in their post cold-war excursions in the global-warming era.

Serves the NZ and Aussies Right for seeing a clearly rigged elections as Free and Fair.

There was no free and fair elections to dismantle the dictatorship and restore democracy. The dictatorship conducted a gerrymandered election to give itself a democratic cloak. The upshot is that the dictatorship still rules and continues to govern without any real accountability, transparency and public scrutiny . The media has been rendered impotent and the Opposition only for show. There is no real check and balance in the " true democracy " in Bainimarama- Khaiyum's " New Fiji ".
Hence the Russian arms shipment into the country without the people of Fiji having any say in the matter.
In the ongoing Fijian dictatorship the Fijian people have no right to know what it's government is doing in their name.
What a crying shame!
Particularly with all the hype about Fiji having " returned to democracy".
What a cynical joke perpetrated on the people of Fiji and accepted by the international gang.
Shame on them for being a party to the farce!

Chiku...my bro...my heart feels for you about this 'invasion' of the Russians and their arms shipment into the country.

But please be placated by the fact that other countries have exported arms into Fiji and brought their military trainers here to train our soldiers and sailors.

The British have traditionally equipped the RFMF with the .303 rifles and Bren guns which the Fijians used in the Solomons and later in Malaya.

Then with Lebanon (1978), the Aussies came along with their 7.62mm L1A1 SLR. They also came in the late 1980's with their Pacific Patrol boats which is beginning to sink from old age.

Then in Sinai in 1981 the US came along with their M16A2 and M60 plus their M79 (Peter Veliky where are you so that you can explain, seeing you are the vutusona expert in these matters).

When the Fiji government and the UN wanted Australia and the US to replace the weapons our peacekeeping forces were using, the refused to so.

So what to do?

The Russians stepped in and filled the 'vacuum'. They offered state of the art military equipment more superior than what the Aussies and the US have to offer.

That is the reality.

Malaysia, for example, has state of the art fighter jets from Russia as their front-line air defence asset. They also have/had troops in Lebanon under the UN. t did not affect their professional standing in the eyes of the UN and the local population.

The same will apply to Fiji who the local population there hold in great respect. If you don't believe me, go there and determine for yourself.

Pita, there u go trying to protect the status quo where Fiji is now run by the military. FB is merely the military's face in politics. With a $100 million annual budget or shall I say rent extracted from tax payers via the annual budget the military now is the biggest Corporation in Fiji today, overshadowing the Punja, Moitbhai and Vision Goup empires by a large degree but unlike them with negative Return on Investments. Of course, Vili the US and Australia will be reluctant to replace the military equipment previously gifted to a neutral RFMF. But following the actions of the military in Fiji democratic countries are reluctant to re-arm a military who past history shows will turn their guns on their own citizens before they use them for their intended purpose

Thanks VIctor for blowing the lid on arms shipment, but amusing how FLP is jumping on bandwagon and demanding 'full disclosure'. We have a pot calling kettle black situation. First Mahend Chaudhry should provide full disclosure of $3million donations. FLP abandoned by supporters after Mahend was exposed and did not win a single seat in 2014, yet taking high moral ground. FLP is n no position to demand anything. Sooner the party's media strategist Asha Lakhan realises the better. Greed got the better of Mahend who destroyed the party single-handedly. Take it from a former FLP voter and donor.

Why is Mahen of the dead FLP suddenly so worried about their 'Devta' Bainimarama's blatant import of Russian arms to obliviously oppress, suppress, torture and keep in FEAR the Fijian Populous in his attempt to clean-up Fiji and fill up his pockets.

Wasn't Mahendra Pal Chaudhary part of this Treasonous Cabal, as well, once? Is Mahen suffering from dementia already..?

And can MPC make full disclosure of the millions he STOLE from the Poor People of Fiji, (as his Lawyer says that Mahen the daaku did) namely from the Girmit Center Refugees...??

In the long run they all become a Mr Nobody. Even the good guys in politics. For a short time they occupy centre stage and some begin to think the sun shines out of their arse and they strut about like Demi- gods among ordinary mortals.the NFP- WUF political rally picture reproduced from Victor Lal's book Coup in Paradise is quite telling. Most of the politicians in the front row on the main dais are dead and gone and mostly forgotten. Only Jai Ram Reddy survives but is now politically dead.
The new boys on the political block - who are currently doing the strutting - should take a good look at that picture and remember the lesson it offers .

The stability of a Nation is totally dependent on how it manages its Internal Affairs with dignity and integrity. The amount of controversy and emotional conflicts that is prevalent in Fiji today, add to it the selective prejudices of the underperforming FICAC and the 'one-way-only way' leadership style of Government, Fiji has become a farce; full of shoddy and corrupt characters.

There are controversies in all countries but name us a country whose Leader (PM or President) has swindled 'leave pay" as Bainimarama has.

The forever-abused military continue to terrorize innocent civilians and yet more arms dealings are coming from the Russians. They do seem bold enough to intimidate citizens, but not so much terrorist groups.

Does "Al-Nusra" ring a bell anyone?
