STALKING HORSE: Was Latifa Investments formed to facilitate Tappoo's Bright Star Investments to purchase Khaiyum's Berry Rd property? The Berry road land and property was registered under Latifa Investment Limited. In 2009, Coupfourpointfive obtained the land transfer document showing that Khaiyum sold his Berry Road property to Tappoos for $810,000. Bright Star Investments was formed in August 2005, and Suresh Lal Tappoo gave his citizenship as Australian and Yogesh Tappoo gave his as New Zealander.

Yes. We must ask the right questions in order to make sense of what is so that we can begin to decide what we ought to do.

Your question about How much was Aunty Bano was paid is very relevant. But a more fundamental one is to ask is Why would BaiYum deliberately arrange for a private family company to manage miltary government ministerial salaries? Another pertinent question is Why would the BaiYum regime prevent any public knowledge of those financial trabsactions?

Finally, the current situation is such that the BaiYum government is not accountable to anyone else but to themselves. There is no higher authority or institution that will hold them accountable. Whereas previously we had two separate bodies of Parliament made up of the Lower and Upper Houses ( Legislative and Senate ),we have no such structure today. We effectively have a symbolic head of State ( President ), but the real power and absolute control lies between the BaiYum syndicate.

May I suggest that in order to have a real progress for democracy and good governance in Fiji, we must get these fundamentals right. Ignoring fundamentals would be at our our own peril.
