I just want to share , for how long will Fiji be stable Bainimarama is not going to live for ever when he dies the country will be back to 1987 and indos will suffer again . Take my it will happen .

Do a coup and get top jobs. That's the new " merit " system in coup country Fiji. Some coup scavengers now strut about as " Honourable".

The issue of accountability becomes increasingly acute when military and police become indistinguishable by absorption post coup. How does a civilian victim of aggravated robbery, sexual violence or, worse, rape give a clear reporting of their attacker when unsure of their identity? At night over many years it was impossible to determine Who was Who? In this scenario "Salus Populi" - the Welfare of the People (as Marcus Tullius Cicero 2,000 years ago said should be The Supreme Law) becomes a complete unknown. Since the press and media are under draconian decree no one can be any the wiser. This of itself instills fear and uncertainty. 419,000 Rohingya in Myanmar are currently in a similar but magnified situation. Their erstwhile over-lauded Leader Aung San Suu Kyi appears to be divorced from their real and pressing concerns. The disconnect is now obvious for the entire world to see. In Fiji's case, the entire world turned away from choosing to know or care too much of the mostly hidden and daily trauma. Culturally-imposed Silence through Fear was reinforced by this stance and in 2012 only UN Women and Professor Yash Ghai with his team took the requisite time to find out. Not forgetting the visit of Australian Federal Police who responded to an urgent, desperate appeal concerning the ravages being inflicted through organised criminals including traffickers in persons. This gave access to the FBI and U.S. Dept of Homeland Security with highly skilled women agents.
