"Now these Indians abroad...Are they Indian citizens...or not? If not, then our interest in them becomes cultural and humanitarian, not political...Take the Indians of Fiji or Mauritius: are they going to retain their nationality, or will they become Fiji nationals or Mauritians? The same question arises in regard to Burma and Ceylon...This House wants to treat them as Indians, and with the same breath it wants a complete franchise for them in the countries where they are living. Of course, the two things do not go together. Either they get the franchise as nationals of the other country, or treat them as Indians minus the franchise and ask for them the most favourable treatment given to an alien?

All are fijians in fiji. Wait till indo fijians also start getting lease money. Might be we indians can have separate register- indofijians register..we can get registered in there and get equal share of lease money. Then only we can be classified as indians. Not just by calling us indians and still deeming us second class citizens. Look at ethnic composition of civil service, the latest nz fruit picking scheme. This is discrimination, and bainimarama calling it equal rights. Wake up indians; there is no such thing as equal rights in new fiji as championed by bainimarama and khaiyum.

Whenever there is issues regarding nationality, there is always tensions. Branding all Indians as Fijians is not about equality, it is show that we are Fijians because we are born in this country. The phrase Indians or Indo-Fijians or Kaindia and likewise Kaivitit will NEVER be given up. This is how it will be till the end of the world. NO ONE change the habit or mindset that people of Fiji have about different races. Its the bitter truth.
