BLOODY RACIST: SODELPA MP NIKO NAWAIKULA lashes out at FRANK BAINIMARAMA over 'Sunset Clause' and Indigenous Rights Definition

Fijileaks: BELIEVE us, as long as some native Fijians play the RACE CARD, the likes of BAINIMARAMA will play the COUNTER RACE CARD, to hold onto POWER. Many of those attacking the FFP Government from inside or outside Fiji have been beneficiaries of the present and past Fiji governments. CRY THE BELOVED COUNTRY. We have never learnt to rise Phoneix like from the Ashes as one UNITED PEOPLE.
RACE, RELIGION, TRIBALISM, CORRUPTION, RULES KING IN FIJI. Frankly speaking, Nawaikula should be expending all his energy on FFP Donation Scam of $7.5m that we have been revealing in Fijileaks

UP IN SMOKE: Vale Ni Bose lies gutted by flames

"The President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has approved decrees that formally de-establish the Great Council of the Chiefs, an institution created by the British during colonialism, and one that in modern times has become politicized to the detriment of Fiji’s pursuit of a common and equal citizenry...Over the last 20 years the GCC, including its secretariat, became highly politicised, with its members having political affiliations and membership in political parties. Unfortunately, this resulted in the GCC and its members unduly involving themselves in national politics and/or taking advantage of the GCC’s traditional role to assert personal or political agenda. Fiji’s iTaukei heritage is a distinct and fundamental aspect of Fiji—this cannot be denied. However, as an institution the Great Council of Chiefs perpetuated elitism and fed into the divisive politics which plagued our country. We must now look to our commonalities as citizens of the same nation, not to what separates us as individuals or groups. In recent years, my government has done much to ensure that many of the challenges facing the iTaukei have been addressed—including equal distribution of land lease monies." -
Interim Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama

The Final Conclusion of Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum's thesis Cultural Autonomy submitted to the University of Hong Kong.
Fijileaks: If one were to examine it objectively, which our Founding Editor-in-Chief had the privilege to examine before it was submitted to the University of Hong Kong, there is nothing wrong in the 'Sunset Clause', for as we ourselves have argued, Tradition is a Guide, Not a Jailor...'But with the chiefs determined to imprison themselves in the racist garb of supremacy and tradition, and their antagonists, the Fijian Indians (Indo-Fijians), threatening violence and vegeance, both sides must be urged to re-examine the findings of the Royal Commission that investigated Fiji's electoral system in 1975. This Commission had strongly advocated extending national seats in order to defeat the politics of communalism. The chiefs, prejudiced by lack of vision, must, on the other hand, in the months and years to come, realize that 'tradition is a guide, not a jailor', if they are to save their country from the calamity that confronts them. The Fijian Indians (Indo-Fijians) with a history of rebeliion on the sugar plantations and burning political ambitions in their hearts are repeating the lines of Richard Lovelace: Stone walls do not a prison make - Nor iron bars a cage.'  Many native Fijians do not realize that what they passionately believe to be their ancient heritage is, in fact, a colonial legacy. As for the future, they have reached that,
...Tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood,
leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries

It is to be sincerely hoped that they will wake up to the fact that although they were given a Garden of Eden, living on Fiji Islands, that isolation is bad for the individual; it is infintiely worse for a community or a country. The leader of the breakaway Taukei Movement, Ratu Meli Vesikula, has said: 'I cannot walk into a room and feel secure. I cannot walk down the street and say I feel secure and I'm sure all the Fijians will feel the same today; the army, the police, the prison officers. They are indigenous Fijians and they'll be looking suspiciously at each other again. Tribalism, the great swear-word of the Fijians, will surface again.'
(Above Excerpted from Victor Lal, Fiji-Coups in Paradise: Race, Politics and Military Intervention)
Fijileaks: After all, some of Fiji's most prominent chiefs had broken away from tradition and had appointed a coupist and commoner Sitiveni Rabuka
as chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs. Read Khaiyum's conclusion:

THE TAMING OF THE CHIEFLY GREAT COUNCIL OF CHIEFS
Fijileaks: We do not believe Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum is a RACIST. The problem is no one of any RACE in Fiji had been able to tame, or come up with a workable solution whereby the GREAT COUNCIL OF CHIEFS, infiltrated by THIEVES, became a truly cultural and not a political institution. It has undergone many changes since 1875 (like bringing in commoner Fijians as members, including making Rabuka its chairman) but time and again it has reared its ugly racial and political head - so the coupist Bainimarama and his native Fijian chiefs went to the extreme - dismantling it altogether, with Khaiyum getting all the blame for its demise. The GCC might be dead but native Fijian culture, tradition, and religion still survives. We also believe the native Fijian dominated military holds Fiji's fate at the tip of its bayonets. As for Khaiyum, he was even scathing about the Fiji Muslim League in 2000, the same year he submitted his thesis to the University of Hong Kong

Tribalism is something that has troubled the ITaukei ever since the precolonial era/olden days, no wonder there is this false sense of paranoia of so-called "sovereignty" being threatened by the Indo-Fijians whose ancestors were brought to Fiji by the British indentured system.

It's not surprising the ITaukei wanted the British to stay while the Indo-Fijians were glad they were leaving. If only people's tiny little egos were put aside and just bloody get along.

Not many ITaukei realize that the British could've easily taught them how to be business-minded through subsistence agriculture and not just education. But instead the natives were really left alone and so stuck up with that "backwards mentality" while the British brought in outsourced labor.

Race is the least of Nawaikula's concern when he should be questioning Frankie on why he's getting shady donations while other parties cannot under FFP'S self-serving decrees.
