"His appointment by Australia into a very senior position in its army is not only shameful but sends the message that Australia supports the alleged abuse and Human Rights violation. Fijis Coalition Government must now re-think its relationship with Australia because of Australia's shameful act of appointing Col Naliva. Col Naliva has been looking for a safe heaven to escape accountability for the atrocities he allegedly participated in Fiji and very shamefully Australia has given him that refuge."
SWN Advocasy is demanding that Fiji rethink its future association with Australia following Australias appointment of Col Naliva as Deputy Commander of the Australian Army’s 7th Brigade.
The Government of Australia is well versed with allegations of serious Human Rights abuse by Col Naliva.
The highly respected Australian newspaper, The Australian, has even reported that, "Whilst serving with Fijian military forces, Naliva was allegedly present at or participated in beatings of Fijian politicians, a former cabinet minister, a businessman and student activists. In one case, Naliva, whilst serving in Fiji, is also accused of detaining a Fijian politician and trying to force an M16 rifle barrel into their anus during an interrogation."
It is a lame excuse for RFMF to say that these are mere allegations because the 2013 Constitution grants immunity to Col Naliva, with others implicated, from prosecution as a soldier involved in Human Rights violations following the 2006 coup.
Col Naliva is a Rogue soldier and a Coward who is allegedly part of Bainimaramas hit squad that terrorized and abused the innocent the helpless and the very people he vowed to be protecting.
