FIJIFirst Member of Parliament Balmindar Singh has been charged by Police for one count of assault.

Confirming this, Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said Singh was arrested last Friday night for allegedly assaulting a 30-year-old man of Nadera inside a nightclub in Suva.

Ms Naisoro said Singh was charged and bailed after he had sought medical examination.

She said the MP would be summoned to appear in court at a later date. Source: Fiji Times, 26 December 2016

TRUE COLOURS
27/12/2016 01:49:24 am

Now we seeing the true colours of the chor, corrupt and thug FFP.

What a low point that those who sit in the highest court of the land (parliament) taking the law into their own hands and making an absolute mockery of this august institution.

Whilst all are innocent until proven guilty by the courts, people who are MPs should be beyond reproach in such matters and always act in am exemplary manner. This is elementary.

In any event, this BAL SINGH in his turban pontificates being a religious Sikh, so it beggars belief what the hell he will doing in the night club....

NAANAK NAAM BADNAAM HAI!!!!!

Excuse Me.
You do not have any right to judge a person by their religion. So what if he wears a Turban and is a religious Sikh. He can go to any place he wants or where ever. You people cannot judge a person's personal life with the professional life.

Fijileaks there you go again pronouncing a person guilty before examining all the facts and before he is tried in a court of law. For you any opportunity to have a dig at the FPP is good enough. So much for your claim to objectivity and high standards of investigative journalism. You are no different from a trash tabloid,

soo many qualifications????
27/12/2016 01:58:07 am

someone please check this shaking Turbanitor's bogus qualifications.

He claims having an MBA, a masters in accounting and then a diploma........ and a member of the IPA of Australia. This appears bull. Why have a diploma (not even post graduate one) when you have masters????

Inquiries of the IPA reveals the Turbanitor was struck off......and even if he was not then, he will definitely be now as all professional associations in Australia take assault charges/convictions as a legitimate ground for removal.

As regards his American fraud qualification, this too is doubtful.
Just by working for FICAC does not entitle this chor sardar to claim being a fraud specialist.

How can you be so sure that his qualifications are bogus? Were you his lecturer or tutor? Or are you some kind of genius who can see the truth through blind shutters? If you don't have any prove regarding something, please do not comment. Until and unless you have solid concrete evidence, your comment here is invalid.

Yes Victor, good idea not to release the evidence and see whether this thug sardar's saga ends up in a similar vein to killer bala......

No wonder these thugs like dancing or are all posing as dancers!!!!

like their masters bai-kai, all FFP MPs love thuggery, beating others, killing others and then - getting away with it......

BEAT JUSTICE
27/12/2016 02:30:53 am

What, are you kidding Victor?

Will any court in fiji EVER find a government MP guilty of assault?

Don't you remember what happened in the Bala case. First, there was no magistrate to hear the case for some 4 years.

Then, they found a newly appointed sril lankan magistrate.....

At the hearing, the prosecution was represented by the most junior lawyer from dpp's office.

Finally, how conveniently the sri lankan magistrate found that there was no case against Bala - for no one knows who was driving the car that killed puna chand. It could be a dog, it could be a horse, or it could be Puna Chand's wife......

The net result - Bala continues to dance all way round - in the parliament, at functions, in the temples!!!!!

Justice Fiji style. GET USED TO IT.

JUSTICE ALREADY PURCHASED

So the police claim they were bound to release thus turbanator on bail simply because his doctor said he is not fit to be held in custody.

Would this been the result if the ordinary Joe Blogg was the culprit?? I dont think so.

Its clear that in Bai-Kai's Fiji, there is 2 laws - one for the rich and the other for the poor. Justice available for sale!!!!

What exactly are the roles of Candidates like No. 173 except to raise their hands when ASKed.

There are just ‘fillers’ for this FijiTheft Party Sarkar. This Sarkar is run by only ONE ‘Minister for Everything’ and his puppet PM in Fiji since 2014. Now feeling useless, redundant and powerless in the Parliament, Candidate No. 173 seeks to show his power in smaller places, in purple haze. But this small act of criminality raises bigger questions about these uncultured thugs having control over our future.

How these numbered Candidates, like No. 173 and others, are selected or even elected and which constituencies or who of the ‘We the People’ do they represent, still remains an enigma to the general Fiji electorate. What an unbecoming behavior, from a Leader, aptly belonging to a party which had no qualms STEALING even the name of their party from a smaller, weaker political party. Theirs is a political party which is primarily premised on CHORI. Shame!

As we rapidly progress towards the 2018 Elections, we as a Nation need to urgently relook at our ‘Electoral System’ and decide if that’s how we want to continue to choose our next Government. All political parties need to make representations to international organizations like the UN (and others) for assistance to redress the “IMPOSED” status of our present Constitution – and its “IMPOSED” electoral provisions.

There are other pertinent questions that need to be asked and asked NOW! Like: What is this one-constituency system? Is it more or less representative of the ‘equal suffrage’ and/or the ‘voice/will’ of the people? Is it discriminatory towards smaller, less resourced political parties and independent candidates? How did the electronic voting and colluding work-out? Are we 100% satisfied as to the efficiency, proficiency and indeed the transparency of this system? What about unnecessarily encumbered demands and red-tape towards registration of new political parties? How does that contribute towards enhancing or inhibiting democracy? What about the neutrality, or otherwise, of the present SOE? What about the ethics of the ‘conflicts of interests’ blatantly exhibited by the ‘Minister of Everything’ in Fiji? Were the 2013 elections even ‘genuine’ elections? Would the 2018 elections be ...genuine?

We need to deal with these questions NOW !

FFP CHAMCHA

Its quite apparent that the commentator of "Presumed Guilty" is a classic chamcha of the FFP government, whose mind appears to have been overtaken by aliens.

The chamcha also seems to have a very short memory - people in Fiji are now being forced to prove their innocence and the case of Mere Samisoni and her colleagues is a classic example. The overnight deportation of the Canadian land owner is another.

Having a corrupt AG (and minister for everything) who shamelessly appoints judges to be his puppets in cases in which he/his government has vested interest (including the Canadian deportation case) is a salutary reminder to the regime chamchas that no matter what spin you may put on the situation, it has been the courage of Victor Lal and his superb investigative journalism that has enabled the Fiji people to know what is really happening on the ground. If there were no Fijileaks, then no one would have the balls to report the turbanitor assault case!!

Calling Fijileaks a "trash tabloid" is an insult to Fiji Sun. The real trash is this corrupt and immoral FFP chor government who cannot find any solution to Victor's journalistic aura!!! Ther rely on trash like Fiji Sun to sanitize the situation.

Nice try but give the people of Fiji a break Mr FFP chamcha.

R U asking those political parties to seek redress of this so wrong imposed constitution that those who went on to breach the 1997 Constitution, namely FLP and SDL (SODELPA) from 2001 through to Dec 2006 and those who supported it by fully taking part in the 2013 elections have therefore legally endorsed this dysfunctional constitution?

Since they took part in it they must fully respect it or they do not respect their own selves. What goes around come around, isn't it?

In a democratic country, a person arrested for a criminal matter should be remanded. If a person is fit to stay home, he is damn fit to stay in a cell - simple as 1,2,3.

Innocent Until Proven

Okay so let's get this straight? A human being is not allowed to have a personal life? Is he not allowed to socialize? Is he not allowed to be part of a crowd of normal beings? If someone is doing wrong to someone, so we should sit back and just watch? That's what all this commotion is saying. As a human being and a member of this beloved nation, I am gonna voice my opinion on each and every website that has been cooking up fake and defaming stories about this MP.
How can you all be so sure that the MP is only at fault here? There are always two sides to a story and you all have heard only one. Well not even one. It's just 1/4 of the whole story.
So if a person owns a night club, he/she is not even allowed to be there? If a person is a Member of the Parliament, he/she cannot have other business which might be a source of financial help to the family besides parliamentary sittings?
Let's talk bout his qualifications. So as said that maybe his degrees and masters and whatsoever are all bogus. Well, you tell me. Were you his tutor or lecturer? Were you the one who marked his exam paper or printed / signed his results? I guess no. So before you judge someone, make sure your own hands are clean.
And no one has the right to judge someone without having concrete or solid evidence. A person is innocent until proven guilty something you people have never heard about in your lives I guess.

Thank You for reading

Qualifications check
29/12/2016 10:40:07 am

"Shaashi" and "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" must be given credit for their unrelenting zeal in their defence of Mr Bal Singh. It seems both are his paid mouth piece!!

Behind all the obfuscation lies a simple fact which can be checked by any village idiot - Mr Singh claims that among the string of his qualifications include his membership of the Australian Institute of Practising Accountants (IPA).

I (and anyone can) checked the IPA website to find out whether this was true. The result was in the negative, meaning Mr Singh is not a member of the IPA.

If that is the case, it is quite legitimate for anyone to question the authenticity of Mr Singh's remaining proclaimed qualifications. By being an MP Mr Singh has put himself up for public scrutiny; so perhaps Shaashi, Innocent Until Proven Guilty and their ilk should realise that one does not need to be Mr Singh's tutor or lecturer in these matters to questions the authenticity of his proclaimed qualifications, one of which is clearly bogus.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and acts like a duck, then it is a duck - this is pure logic.

May i know which website you actually used? Cause apparently, you actually have to have an account to sign into the Institute of Public Accountants which i guess you aren't a member of.

The commentator "Anonymous" makes a very eloquent, lucid and direct point which rational commentators ought to take notice.

So what is the the sardar's purported medical condition which cannot be catered for if he were in custody? And how do the people of Fiji know whether he being on remand is conducive to public interest or in the interests of justice?

What guarantee is there that being on remand, he will not intimidate witnesses?; what guarantee is there that he will not attempt to collude with the police to drop the charges?

None!! None!!! None"

Those who are beating the "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" trumpets ought to realise that such doctrine is only practiced in true democratic nations. Unfortunately Fiji is NOT one of them.

How can it be when its Chief Justice becomes the government's puppet to the UN delegation to pontificate about the regimes human rights record when in reality there is no such thing in Fiji - and the Bala case is a testimony to that!!

Food for thought!!
