Suddenly everyone appeared to be awash with 'DOLLAR To DONATE';
some had minimum, some had thousands, and some even million!

The permission will be given by the know it all Minister. But he will demand the files before any action. And he will keep the files to blackmail them. Those who dont run to his command for "donations" will be the ones whose files will be given back for action. This is why doing honest business in Fiji is impossible. I know this first hand, having seen this mode first hand

Here we go again. Mahend Tappoo is quite an interesting person. Whenever he appears in public over the last 9 years, we can see how close he is with Khaiyum and Bai. The relationship has become very close and strong that his company, Tappoos Fiji has gained considerably from it.

First the FNPF real estate and funding for the Tappoo City in Suva. That was quite an “achievement”. Tappo City is a grand landmark for Suva and a political handshake with the dictators. Then to the West. At Lautoka, despite the obvious inconvenience and potential costs to the Churchill Park patrons and the citizens of Lautoka, their modern shopping complex currently under construction will also serve as the luxury VIP stand when events and games happen. So the VIPs do not have to pay the Fiji Sports Council to watch the events. They only need to pay Mahend through their VIP Lounge.
Then the developments at Nadi Airport and the special treatment from AFL. You just wait and see what Mahend will get after the construction is completed. The airport is a small gold mine and only the few close friends may get the opportunity to mine the international gold.

The question is, How does Tappoos Fiji achieve all these ? But the real question is “Who controls all these three organisations and places: FNPF/Suva City. Fiji Sports Council/Lautoka City, AFL/Nadi Airport? Of course, who else but the twin dictators, Khai and Bai. But the even more critical question is: If this is true for Tappoos, then imagine what is happening with other companies and individuals such as China Railway, Kodagoda, Vodaphone, Jacks, Meghi,Aliz Pacific etc. ? How much have the two dictators gained from Mahend Tappoo and the other FFP friends?

Editor,
Donations of the Political kind
In a letter to the smh 16/04 Garth Clark tells us he is " more concerned with the vast amount of money that developers are donating to the Liberal Party and the influence this inevitably buys".
The influence big money " inevitably buys" has this featured at all in Fiji politics since Bainimarama's " clean up" takeover and the creation of a " new " Fiji under his Fiji First Party government?
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Editor,
Donations With No Expectations.
We learn from Warren Millist's letter ( The Australian 20/04 ) that "Saudi Arabia has confirmed that it deposited $US681million into the personal bank account of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak as a gift ( 16/4 ). Saudi Arabia has confirmed this was a donation with nothing expected in return".
NOTHING EXPECTED IN RETURN. Wow!
I wonder if the ruling political elite in Fiji get donations like that - with nothing expected in return?
The " donation" the Malaysian PM Najib Razak got is mind boggling .
Former Malaysian PM Dr Mahathir Mohammed is not at all convinced. He has together with two other former members of the ruling United Malay National Organisation ( UMNO ) party filed a suit in March against Najib alleging corruption and abuse of power ( read more in ' Malaysia's Mahathir seeks court order to freeze PM's assets' Reuters 19/4)
Corruption and abuse of power sounds to me like a more likely explanation for that kind of money landing into the PM Najib Razak's personal bank account.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu
