Dear Fijileaks:  This Mahendra Reddy education minister failed his Form Six. He just managed to pass on his second attempt and then went to Samoa to do his Diploma in Agriculture - massaging/bribing the lecturers to eventually get the degree...and later massaging/bribing Professor Vijay Naidu to get the Development Studies scholarship

Editor,
Here's a piece on self- serving people motivated by their own agenda rather than the public good.
We read in ' Nevada reporters blow whistle on billionaire owner Sheldon Adelson ' Mashable. com 20/12 that the staff at the prominent Nevada paper Las Vegas Review-Journal, has been vexed by its new owner Sheldon Adelson. At first Adelson bought the paper but refused to disclose his identity, leading staff to tweet out the Society of Professional Journalism's ethics code about " transparency ".
The reporters have made it clear that they don't plan to be cowered by their new owner's power.
Note to billionaires : buying a newspaper doesn't mean buying the soul of its journalists.
Adelson's motive for the acquisition - and the secrecy - remained obscure until the journalists started digging.
I salute the journalists for their courage in upholding the ethics and integrity of their noble profession and for not being cowered by the man with the money and power.
It kind of reminds you of what the newsroom in a prominent Fiji newspaper failed to do. It instead took on the self- serving agenda of the paper's owner and acted as the propaganda paper of the dictatorship in Fiji. The brought shame on independent journalism.
Read the article to get an insight into the real motive behind this Republican Party mega donor's newspaper acquisition.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Woh! Did Monster Reddy really fail his Form 6? When we were studying at USP, we were told Reddy was doing MA at USP. Vijay Naidu was his supervisor. Why doesnt his resume list this MA? or did he fail that too?

Monster Reddy has to come out clean. He should be asked to produce his result certificate. We demand this. We dont want any failure to run our education system.

People have built it up over many years through sweat and toil. No high school failure should be allowed to destroy it.

Yes, we don't want our once proud education system to be run by any failure. But today the country itself is run by an assortment of failures, and mediocre people and worse still by morally bankrupt and corrupt people who installed themselves in power via the barrel of the gun and then via a rigged election.
It therefore comes as no surprise that a mediocre, pseudo academic has been installed as Minister for Education. Mediocrity rules over Fiji currently. Regime lackeys get appointed to high positions. Not men and women of intellect and integrity and professional ability.

Editor,
We Learn from the Latin American Herald Tribune article ' US State Department Employee Indicted in $2 million Government Contract Conspiracy' 20/12 that Kenneth Apple a former employee with the US Department of State helped to steer the sole- sourcing of $2 million in micro- dairy contracts from the US government for use in Iraq to a company in which his son Jonathan Apple owned a 50 per cent interest. However he and his partner had no technical experience in the industry. Kenneth Apple CONSPIRED TO USE HIS OFFICIAL POSITION to pass on non- public information to his son IN ORDER TO FRAUDULENTLY AWARD AND ADMINISTER GoVERNMENT CONTRACTS. The conspirators further provided false information to, and concealed material details from the US government...
Kenneth Apple faces a minimum penalty of 20 years in prison if convicted.
I wonder how many could be rounded up if the same charge of conspiring to use official position to gain unfair advantage and concealing material details and providing false information were applied with the same diligence in Fiji under the reign of Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum?
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Ministry of Education end of year social event " Carribean Night " is all " bread and circus " while the rogue rulers continue their Machiavellean enterprise unhindered by any protest from the educated class.
Do Government ministries in Australia and New Zealand have " Carribean Night" events?

Please look into the hiring of Bobby Maharaj of the Commerce Commisison. He worked under Reddy at FNU and then later at the Commerce Commission. How much 'masi polo' did Bobby Maharaj do to get to head the Commerce Commission? What did he give Reddy for the position he currently holds since they go back a long way.
