SHAMEFUL INTERVENTION: 'TAKE A LEAF OUT OF OUR INHUMANE REFUGEE POLICY' - AUSTRALIAN PM URGES EUROPE TO USE MILITARY GUN BOATS TO STOP MIGRANTS ATTEMPTING CROSSING
Abbott has previously said he was sick of being lectured to by the United Nations over Australia's obligations to refugees, saying his policy was the 'most decent, most compassionate' solution

PictureFijileaks: SHAMEFUL INTERVENTION
Europe has been urged to copy Australia's military-led 'stop the boats' policy to avoid migrant tragedies in the Mediterranean.

Australian PM Tony Abbott – who sends naval gunboats to turn back asylum seekers before they reach Australia – said the EU should 'urgently' follow his lead.

His hardline policy has proved controversial but Mr Abbott said it was the only way to prevent disasters such as the loss of 900 lives when a fishing boat capsized on Saturday night.

He said: 'The only way you can stop the deaths is to stop the boats.

'That's why it is so urgent that the countries of Europe adopt very strong policies that will end the people-smuggling trade across the Mediterranean.'

Conservative Mr Abbott won power in 2013 on a 'stop the boats' pledge, and not a single one has breached his ring of steel in 18 months. Operation Sovereign Borders involves the Australian Navy intercepting boats filled with migrants at sea, and either turning them back or towing them back to where they came from.

Mr Abbott has previously said he was sick of being lectured to by the United Nations over Australia's obligations to refugees, saying his policy was the 'most decent, most compassionate' solution.

It is this very kind of nonsense - that Fiji has made Great strides and held the first truly democratic elections etc etc - from the likes of spineless bigwigs in the Commonwealth like Kamlesh Sharma that rogue leaders in Africa like Zimbabwe's Mugabe and in Asia like Sri Lanka's Rajapaksha have thrived even after their flagrant disregard of the norms of good democratic governance.
Dictators like Bainimarama and his main man Aiyaz Khaiyum know that after playing the Commonwealth mob with a phoney " democratic " election they can go back to business as usual and that is exactly what they have done. The appointment of Former Navy commander Viliame Naupoto is but one example of that. There are many others. But self- serving gang in the Commonwealth are not interested in all that. Bainimarama is not the first dictator to become part of the commonwealth democratic family; and he is not likely to be the last. The charade of democracy continues with the Commonwealth's blessing.
What a disgraceful lot!

And lest we forget let us remember that Bainimarama and Khaiyum are Lilliputian dictators . Leaders of the democratic world have embraced giant dictators like Hitler.
And to cite a more contemporary example look at how leaders of the democratic world are all praise for Myanmar's return to " democracy " when the military generals there continue to call the shots...

Khaiyum the right hand man of the dictator of Fiji briefed - meaning gave a lot of bullushit - to the Secretary General man from the Commonwealth who took what Khaiyum said as if it was Gospel.
With superficial, gullible characters like this in the Commonwealth is it any wonder that it is now an organisation held in ridicule by all except the self- serving mob within it?

The Commonwealth adds insult to injury to the victims of the Bainimarama - Khaiyum coup and regime by applauding these rogue rulers. Shame on the Commonwealth and it's pathetic representative Kamlesh Sharma - be sharamwah!

In early 2006 Mme Huguette Labelle visited Fiji to consult with the local board of Transparency International. She generously gave us two days. TI defines corruption as "The abuse of entrusted power for private gain". Fiji has only been once listed in the Index in 2005 and was poorly rated then. The Commonwealth should ensure that a new rating is made by TI and then we shall see how the cookie crumbles. CHOGM in Malta must make it plain that the integrity of governance is of utmost importance for economic progress and funding. Caging the Tigers and even the Flies as President Xi of China seems determined to undertake.

I just knew it when the Fiji times started to publish shitty letters to editor on rugby etc that some big shit was coming our way. And sure enough a few days later we have the commonwealth singing praise of the Bainimarama regime. What a cowardly media we have in Fiji.

Here's another -

Q: What do Abbot and key persons behind Fiji's 2006 coup d'etat have in common?

A: Plain 'ol stupidity and a serious lack of imagination - oh how they routinely short-change their country!

Plus of course, tiny balls and hollow hearts as someone aptly described "morons".

Well its time that the Fiji Native Tribal Congress, headed by Rajendra Chaudhary, sends its delegation to the Commonwealth Sharma to stress upon him that the 2013 Constitution is a fraud on the nation.

Fiji entering commonwealth means engagement with the developed nations, more trade and aid, all good for common people of Fiji.
Elections are done and dusted, we have democracy albeit so fragile, let's all harness this process, embrace it and move on.
Bai/kai will not rule forever, nobody ever does.
Opposition should bring into play some solid policies not only indigenous issues, atleast commoner indigenous are more recognised now than under elitist rulers.
Now not to say GCC should be brought back, but what will they play. What is the policy of the opposition, bring some discussion papers and let's debate.

When a political leader is without a sense of sincere feeling for fellow human beings who are in a desperate need for protection then you get the likes of Australian PM Tony Abbot and his "stop the boat " policy .
No leader with his heart in the right place and his humanity intact would want to follow in Tony Abbot's footsteps.
In fact Many Australians, including ones who voted for him, are now quite ashamed of him and his leadership.

So many of us are ashamed of the people we voted for....not just in Australia but in most parts of the world. Leaders that have been put in place by the votes of the people no longer care for them. It is all about them and what they can do for themselves. Look at Fiji. Not even a year and many things are not right. People are crying foul but it is falling on deaf ears.
