Create awareness of the 2013 constitution years after it is being imposed on the people without consultation? What is his point?

13 is a bad-luck number especially in a Constitution.

To Professor Yash Ghai and his CRC (25/9/12)

“Sir, with all due respect, Fiji does not need another Constitution. The 1997 Constitution is a living document and is adequate for our meager needs. It may not be perfect but there are provisions within it for its own betterment, (amendments) achievable in a civil and democratic manner. …

…The issue of immunity or amnesty distracts your Commission from the tasks of Constitution-making to that of a Mediator. If amnesty is the single-most demanding issue at stake here than let us not pretend with this charade of Constitution-making exercise – which we don’t need. Let’s save us time, money and rain-forests. ...

…Sir, we therefore, submit that your Constitutional Commission is surplus to the requirements of the 1997 Constitution and therefore –unconstitutional.”

[Fiji First Party – Extract : Submissions to Yash Ghai CRC, 25th September, 2012].

Fiji First Party is proud to have stood by The 1997 Constitution of Fiji.

There are Constitutions of our past - 1970, 1990, 1997. There is a Constitution of the present -2013 and there surely will be the Constitutions of the future. Constitutions are not important. What is important is to be good citizens and good human beings.

Khaiyum must also declare 11th of November, as a public holiday to commemorate Khaiyum STEALING the good name of Fiji First Party. Yes, let’s have a ‘Chori-Day Holiday’- why not?

Khaiyum, the pitiable and world-famous, IP Thief (CHOR) is trying to flaunt his faulty, FRAUD 2013 Constitution, for us to gobble, as if it is a remedy of some– ingenuity!

The mentality of this egoistic person is just beyond comprehension. No matter how much they want to shove this so called Constitution down our throats, the world knows it is an illegal document.

VERY SAD, I must agree, he is extremely egotistical, but the real problem he has been given a level of power that is beyond his capabilities, he is like a child with a box full of toys who still needs to go to the toy shop to get another toy. The flag fluttered out of his grip, so now he wants a National holiday to glorify his version of a constitution, hoping it will garnish respect and complete acceptance.. The mans a fool in a lime green jockstrap.

Editor,
An extract from my letter ' Fiji : National Priorities ' in Scoop Independent News 2 April 2012 :
" ... For a small island country with less than one million people who have historically lived together fairly harmoniously there was NEVER the never to expand so much of the national resource in framing a " perfect " new constitution... "
All thinking people of Fiji know why the Bainimarama -Khaiyum regime went ahead with the making of a new constitution ( after trashing the Ghai draft constitution ) and then imposing it on the people of Fiji under the pretence that it was a constitution made by " We, the People of Fiji ".
Let us not shy away from stating the facts. And, the fact is the 2013 Constitution is a constitution made by the Military Dictatorship of Bainimarama to serve their political agenda.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Editor,
To put things in perspective, I recall (but you may be a better reference), that Rabuka as PM had declared a public holiday called "Constitution Day" for the racist 1990 constitution. The GCC and it's followers did not protest then?

Editor Sir, I kindly request you to shed some light into the "Constitution Day" public holiday of the early 90's. History is repeating itself.

Lessons Learned

What an interesting collage from Fiji Leaks’ archive. It refreshes ones’ memories of the mess made of poor Professor Ghai’s Constitution making exercise. Hope the Professor has learned a few good lessons from his former student.

For example Professor, a Constitution doesn’t always have to have the ‘will of the People’ universally vested in it – just a couple of willies should suffice, like Bai’s and Kai’s, as is apparently the case, in Fiji’s new 2013 Constitution.

The racially biased 1990 constitution was challenged successfully by a number of hard-working and dedicated individuals and parties and Professor Ghai's valuable assistance. The 1997 constitution did not become lawful until 1998. By this time, precious lives had been forfeit and others obliged to move away from Fiji in 2000. Why is the value of human life set so low, one must ask? The appreciation of human dignity and respect accorded such passing esteem? This cannot be right nor just. It most certainly is no recipe for a future of human progress.

In the British film 'That'll be the day ' a main character says " I lie a lot ". The character reminded me of Aiyaz Khaiyum. but if you asked Khaiyum he'd say he never lied in his life - the liar!

The Ghai Draft had all the genuine needs that the people themselves actually asked for, until AK-47 had other ideas by burning it up and then developing HIS OWN constitution THAT HE CAME UP WITH HIMSELF without actual approval from the people.

First a flag change, and now a day commemorating Bhaiyum's triumph and illegal rule...what more would they come up with that continues to waste even more time and money.
