Fiji fell into thug rule following the Bai- Kai takeover of 2006.
This revelation is another confirmation that thug rule remains alive and well after Fiji's " return to democracy".

And make it worse the Opposition can not question this type of corrupt practices as everything is censored before being table in parliament. And top of this no media freedom. The judiciary/ military/ police/ ngo/ ccf, even the prison dept are all monitored. Remember this is just their first yr in power. And if you are Christian, anti christ is in the house, lets pray!!

What? 3 months to complete the bridge? This is a capital repair project and I doubt the duration. That budget too is only good on paper, it will cost more!!
Damn! From Khaiyum to Koya...this is a family deal.
Thanks Fijileaks, you need to track this project and update us after its completion hopefully in September.

It's not always number's , at times things have to be done on purpose of records as some thing was done. If everything on numbers then opposition should vacate the parliament. There should be aggressive debate which we don't see.

Editor,
We learn from Tropix news just come to hand that the ABC has obtained evidence that the president of Nauru Baron Waqa received $60,000 and his justice minister David Adeang - the most powerful politician in Nauru - received $10,000 per month in 2009 and 2010 in bribe money from Australian phosphate dealer Getax.
Other government MPs are also ilicated in the scandal. Leaked emails show Mr Adeang solicited an additional $665,000 in corruption payment for himself and other Nauruan politicians from the Australian company Getax.the transactions are being examined by the Australian Federal Police as part of a major foreign bribery investigation. The emails reveal a plot to overthrow the Nauru government in 2010 . When Mr Adeang was in opposition in 2009 he told former Getax director Ashok Gupta " We can create a new business relationship that can take this country to a higher level of development and of course taking also your business to even more success".
People who have been following Fijileaks revelations of corruption by the mob in power in Fiji will not be surprised by this news of corruption by Nauruan political leaders.
It has an all too familiar ring to it.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Editor,
' FIFA scandal : Argentine Alejandro Burzaco sought by US over corruption surrenders in Italy ' ( ABC Online 5 hours ago ). Burzaco the Argentine media marketing business had gone to ground after the arrest of FIFA corruption suspects in Zurich recently. It is not known what the Argentine crooked business man was doing in Italy. He is suspected of pocketing millions in bribe.
Where you have big time corruption two types of human beings feature prominently : the businessman and the politician. Sometimes the two are one.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

There seems a series of corrupt actions by Khaiyum with aunty in tow, inquiries and investigations are all suppressed by FFP majority.
The dominant player kai carries on as if his shit don't stink, in the least not getting to the redundant nose of our beloved PM...

"An imbecilic approach". ....... is this parliamentary language? Does this tone and use of such adjectives show respect which ought to be inherent in all utterance from any MP no matter where they may sit in any Parliament worthy of the name?

If it is, then why not use 'cretinous', 'idiotic', 'foolish', 'unintelligent', nincompoopish', 'moronic' ..... Etc. All of which might foot the bill but which are hardly conducive to fostering a respectful climate for sensible, reasoned debate. Plain English might also achieve much were it to be considered or promoted. Try the flag to foster this!

There is only one person who can stop this rot in the present government and like Kevin Rudd during his reign in Australia he enjoys his overseas trips too much to pay sufficient attention to the progressive rot that will become his shameful legacy.

Editor,
Here is something to remind us why thuggish behaviour of politicians is such a recurring theme in Indian films.
The Times of India reports in the article ' Journalist burnt alive; UP minister, cops charged ' June 10 that UP minister in charge of dairy development, Ram Murti Verma, has been charged with murder after a Shahjahanpur based journalist who had mounted a relentless social media campaign against him died of burn injuries.
Jag endure Singh, his family alleged, was set on fire by a bunch of cops and goons sent by Verma on June 1 at his house.
Singh has written extensively about the plight of an Aganwadi worker who had told a court recently that she had been gang raped by the Minister and some of his henchmen.
Police have now filed an FIR against the Minister and 4 others including the Kotwali station in charge...
Yes, rule by thugs is a very real phenomenon - not only in India though.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

You guys are only looking at petty cash. The real fraud is in the road budget - $0.66billion - yes, billion. Khai is paying over $40m to expatriates only to manage the works - something which PWD used to do only in a few million dollars. What he did first was to dismantle PWD. Then get a reason to pay foreigners who then pay Khai abroad. Question: how much is Khai getting out of this? which account? can anyone demand information in New Z. - to show all details of receipts and payments by the NZ companies, including Herbert and hits subsidiary. In Fiji, no one can do this. But NZ is democratic has freedom of information. NZ and Aus companies have been involved in corrupt practices for years - under Khai, and earlier under Lai and Sitiveni Rabuka.

They cannot keep those corrupted practices under wraps forever as the information always has certain ways about being leaked out to the public that I can assume happens instantly......and it does work.

No wonder why Bhaiyum threatens any who dare question their dealings and "supposed" democratic rule when they have demons of their own along with dark hidden secrets such as this.
