Do you know what is Climate Change? No, we don't speak ENGLISH nor native FIJIAN and our school children, on the orders of Mahendra Reddy, are not to be told in Hindi what it is, so they can't explain to us in Hindi!

* Bainimarama launches native Fijian (i-taukei) translation of the National Climate Change Policy!
* What about Hindi version?
* Where is the equality?
* Is it because Indo-Fijians don't own enough land to know about climate change or understand?

Just look at the references cited in the National Climate Change Policy! Now, the same Lal, P. N. (Padma Lal, the wife of Professor Brij Lal) is more dangerous to Fiji than climate change?

95% of Indian were/are farmers they know what is climate and the Indian know what is climate change only the Fijian who do not know what is climate change are given a chance to learn about climate.
If the Fijian don't learn about climate, their farming business will collapse like the collapse of the Emacoll shops, which the Rambuka Government gave grant to the Fijian to do business in Grocery shop. Do you know All the emacoll shops collapsed within 6 months except one in Tamavua which lasted 18 months. There is no need to translate the climate change in Hindi as you all know that Minister Anna Ready will protest no hindi language.

Fiji hindi and Itaukei is taught in schools so is pure hindi and proper itaukei. English is compulsory. In which language do you want to know about climate change? Reddy ensures we know all languages. Hats off to him!!! Hardworking Minister.

The word Kelera is 'Puppet' - Please help translate.

WHERE DID WE GO WRONG?
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it (Edmund Burke)
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it (George Santayana)
1970 FIIJI’S INDEPENDENCE:
When Ratu Mara decided to engage in secret meetings with the devil (National Federation Party) between August 1969 and March 1970, little he knew that he was opening a trapdoor for himself and the entire native Fijian race.
In the period leading up to Fiji’s independence, Britain colluded with India to deprive Fiji of its SOVEREIGNTY by caving-in to India’s fierce lobbying for ‘PARITY’ for their own Indo-Fijians. Once PARITY was granted, native Fijians were consigned to the status of second class citizens in their own country! PARITY is the principle by which Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has been ruling Fiji and subjugating native Fijians in the past 9 years. While this door was first opened in 1970, it gradually morphed over the 45 year period into the shape it is today, whereby Indians are SOVEREIGN and native Fijians are consigned to the status of second class citizens.
Sir Leslie Monson, deputy undersecretary of State at the FCO whose departmental responsibilities included the Pacific and Indian Ocean, visited Fiji in October, 1969 on a familiarisation tour. Before leaving London, he told Lord Shepherd that for moral and ‘realistic’ reasons, the United Kingdom should strive for a constitutional arrangement that left the Fijians in control. The moral argument was the connection with the Deed of Cession.
Ratu Mara himself had said at one occasion, “It was the United Kingdom that had brought the Indians to Fiji and their fate is London’s responsibility, not that of the Fijian people. The United Kingdom had better see that arrangements reached left Fijians in control or there would be real trouble in the country.”
The recommendation in favour of independence on the basis of Fijian paramountcy had one significant consequence. British officials believed that the Indian government (Delhi) would in all probability resent this decision. It would set it as consigning Fiji’s Indo-Fijians to the status of second class citizens. It might also think that it has been misled, deliberately by the United Kingdom. The FCO was confident that the United Kingdom could manage any Indo-Fijian protests but also decided that now was the time to disengage from any further consultation with India about Fiji’s affairs. From New Delhi, the British High Commissioner concurred. The Indian connection, which had provided the United Kingdom with valuable diplomatic support at the United Nations (where India put in an injunction against Fiji’s UN membership if they refused PARITY for Indo-Fijians) and elsewhere, and had played a role in facilitating direct talks (secret meetings August 1969-March 1970; its dark secret unbeknown to Ratu Mara) between the Fijians and Indo-Fijian leaders, had now outlived its usefulness (collusion at the highest level).
The Hon. S.M. Koya, Leader of the National Federation Party, speaking at the Fiji Constitutional Conference at Marlborough House, London, 20 April, 1970, chaired by Lord Shepherd had stated, “It is a common ground Fiji’s SOVEREIGNTY should be transferred to the people of Fiji as a whole...I would therefore say to you, my lord, that we have come to London for this historic conference AS ONE PEOPLE WITH ONE VOICE.” [‘KEIMAMI SA LAKO MAI KI LODONI, DUA GA NA UMA TAMATA, DUA GA NA DOMO....NA NODRA DODONU NAI TAUKEI ME SOLI MAI VEI KEMAMI NA LEWE I VITI TAUCOKO.’ translation of Mr. Koya’s PARITY proposal.] Qo sara ga na vu ni noda leqa tiko nikau na KAWA I TAUKEI, and no one from the Alliance Party present at that constitutional conference registered their verbal objection! Neither was a referendum held in Fiji to give the Kawa i Taukei the right to be heard by expressing their mind regarding their cultural genocide in the PARITY proposals put forth by Mr. Koya (now enshrined by Khaiyum in his 2013 Constitution).
All members of the Alliance Party present at the London constitutional conference in April 1970 should have known the emotional volatility pervading Fiji in that period. Eirene White, undersecretary of State in what was then Britain’s Labour government had earlier toured Fiji on a familiarisation visit and heard a wide range of opinions from native Fijians about their special interests- including political leadership of their country- from Apisai Tora about deporting Indo-Fijians as Ceylon and Burma had done, from the Council of Chiefs reiterating the terms of the Wakaya Letter, from journalist Alipate Sikivou expressing the nationalist line that the Indians could always go back to India, the Chinese to China and the Rotumans and other islanders to their respective islands, but the Fijians, the indigenous people, had Fiji as their onl

Dear Victor, Minister Reddy has made sure people know all languages. In time to come people can say climate change in any language be it Hindi Itaukei or Fiji hindi. Why are you writing this? Support Dr. Reddy. He is doing a great job. The changes are to get better teachers smarter children and an education system we can all be proud of. Good to see Ministers working for a change.

If government does everything, what is the responsibility of parents? Shouldn't parents teach their children their language, culture etc etc Get of your lazy bottoms and become responsible parents first before critiquing those that are doing something.

Mr, Farmer are you Indian farmer or Fijian farmer. Indians farmers know all about the climate and the season. the Indian farmers know all about the crop when to plant and when to harvest. The Fijian are now getting into farming business the Fijian do not know when to plant and when to harvest. The Fijian farmers sell their sugar cane fertilizer to Indian farmers at the quarter price they buy from SPSM. the Fijian farmers should know about the climate change and translation into Fijian language is very good idea.

Sit back and do a reality check link
11/9/2015 06:51:37 am

Instead of applauding or criticizing the Education Minister's work so far, let's do a reality check come one year of this govt and it's policies.
: week 1 in office Minister of Education says he will review the curriculum
: soon after new books are introduced. Some yet to yet these,
:he states no scaling of marks
: all teachers will be evaluated by students
:then, no exams
: no students should fail, teach then well, even on Saturdays if need be
: all teachers performance will be monitored
:most teachers are poorly educated, the institutes are producing terrible teachers, teachers can't speak properly
:no one should hit students, but they should all be in school, and all should pass
: no other languages should be used to teach
: we should preserve indigenous languages
:all students will get free books, bus fare
: books can't be bought, you can down load and print
:ministry is still reviewing curriculum, books still to reach schools, e ams next week

:then PM says everyone is equal
: then he launches material in Fijian language
Welcome to Fiji, Fiji First style where no one knows who is doing what. One thing is sure disspirited, scared, demoralized teachers, confused students and a ruined education system

I know its difficult to translate taukei words to local Hindi. But try we must. :Let's start with Qoli qoli, Burua, Nunia etc. Or can we ask our taukei bros to change some of their confusing vocabs.

I was expecting better from Reddy but this is ridiculous. Why yell at someone who's just elaborating in Fijian just for the sake of the child?

The education minister is no different from a bigger disappointment as Frankie himself is.

Reddy is a bigger disappointment like his boss Frankie that he can't even comprehend the common means of communication if necessary so that they get the message on climate change loud and clear.
