FALSE Information Bill (26 of 2016) passed, criminalizing those giving false information to government officials and police. But what about real CRIMINALS who falsified details since grabbing power after 2006 coup?

AIYAZ Khaiyum's False Information Bill that has been passed by FFP dominated Parliament into law states that 'A person must not knowingly make a false representation to any officer, agent or representative of the government or an entity. Any person who contravenes this section is liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or upto 5 years imprisonment or to both'.; 'Any person that uses the benefit for the purpose other than what it was intended for is liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding $20,000 or upto 10 years imprisonment or to both.'

Fijileaks: We are still waiting for replies from the United States State Department and the United States Embassy in Fiji, re Fiji's Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Khaiyum lied on his US Visa Form, so on what grounds was he allowed to enter the United States to sign the loan agreement with the World Bank in Washington:

“This assistance given out by government are going to individuals and no one else. There is dishonesty going on. This law has a purpose and we are simply asking people to fill out the form with honesty. If you are not going to fill out this form correctly than why cant you fill this form under this law. The DPP will do prosecution on this.” - Khaiyum speaking on False Information Bill 2016

The obnoxious Media Decree was introduced, Khaiyum claimed, to promote constructive journalism; we say, it was introduced by the criminally inclined Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum to ensure that none of which Fijileaks was revealing was reproduced in the local media - it began with the arrest, detention, torture and deportation of former Fiji Sun publisher in 2008 following revelations that the Interim Government's Finance Minister Mahendra Pal Chaudhry was hiding $2million in a secret bank account in Australia while the regime was pursuing the ordinary workers to pay their taxes; the Media Decree was brought to ensure these criminals were not exposed during the election campaign, and on the eve of voting - that is why Khaiyum had ordered a blackout when voters went to the polls. The D'Hondt electoral system, he ensured, won him power!

I have said this before and I repeat : the laws the Bainimarama- Khaiyum regime makes is only for other ordinary citizens and to hound opponents and critics. They themselves and their cronies ( like murderer minister Bala Sala ) are exempt from these laws. Fijileaks has provided many examples of the exemptions they have applied to themselves - the rogue rulers of Fiji.

So true. Laws they make are to prosecute others and protect themselves. Cops are now defunct. FICAC has taken over the role of private police of Bainimarama ad Khaiyum. The new law will give greater powers to the private police Fiji's gestapo.

If Khaiyum and Bai can't trust the people why should the people trust them at the next general election?

What happened to Freedom of Information Act? Oh, I forget the Bainimarama -Khaiyum regime is not about democracy. It's about entrenching a dictatorship in a democratic garb.Hence these kinds of laws.

When perjury is witnessed by more than one person in a court of law, is noted by the presiding magistrate in his judgement and an Order is then made for the Sigatoka Police to investigate and nothing whatsoever eventuates we must conclude that Due Process, Conflicts of Interests and all manner of aberrant practices have succumbed to a March of Folly. Others might arrive at weightier conclusions: that the Rule of Law has flown leaving those who seek justice in Legal Limbo. The majority verdict of Unlawful Killing of 96 football fans at Hillsborough Stadium UK after a lapse of 27 years might just give us pause however. Persistence in pursuit of justice, truth and accountability is never misplaced.

FAIR PLAY
Whatever lies, misdeeds, atrocities, false information’s etc.etc etc by this Government is covered under the immunity,FULLSTOP.

At least this bill should have also covered from here on wards that Government will also be penalized if they give wrong information to public.
Oh that’s covered in ‘Access to information’ that’s why there is so much delay on this bill, and when it will be passed of course the Government will always have some sort of upper hand .
SUFFER the Poor public in True Democracy in FIIIJEEE.

Persistence in pursuit of accountability specifically The Duty to Protect is the next phase of the 27 year hunt for justice for the Liverpool fans' families. The Duty to Protect will see almost certain criminal charges brought against a Senior Police Officer who gave orders resulting in the deaths of 96 fans who were crushed to death and injuries to countless others. The Senior Police Officer has already confessed that he lied about what took place 27 years ago. Other charges are likely to be laid concerning negligent conduct and perverting the course of justice. What charge is appropriate when the senior legal officer in any land is given evidence that is proven to be correct and then turns their back (sic) on it? And what of the alleged negligence of Police ordered by the Senior Presiding Magistrate to investigate? How does this sit with The Duty to Protect civilians from Organised Crime and its undoubted threats and corruption?

It is very funny that all these kinds of laws coming up now. This shows the desparation to cling to powers however to me it seems that Aiarse is making mockery of himself. Fijileaks has exposed to the entire world regarding Aiarse dubious acts on numerous occasion. Aiarse falsified his own income thus giving false information to his nephew Saneem who happens to be a public officer. It seems Aiarse is digging his own grave by enacting such legislation unless law is applied unequally and I wont be surprised that Aiarse and Bai will use this law to surpress people into giving them the votes in 2018 as government is freely giving them $3000.00 to $7000.00 to build houses and in Fiji all these recepients will buy at least $5.00 worth of grog from the money received hence violating the False Information Act. God save Fiji.

Absolutely right Dekho. All we are witnessing is the cunning devious arrogant crafty and audacious acts of Kai and Bai's mob o entrench their power and control over Fiji. It is disguised Islamic taqqiya and the major purpose is to give them continued 'mandate' to rule Fiji for as long as they live.

Prof Biman was correct. The change of Fiji's financial year was not necessary for the country because it was a politically motived decision to conveniently time the 2018 National Budget to buy votes for Khai and Bai. The Bills that have been passed hastily through the circumvention of Standing Committees and so on are all part of the cunning strategy to entrench FFP power at the expense of Fiji's national interest. It is all about Kai and Bai and their group of opportunists who are very happy now. But they realise that if true democracy comes, and their fraudulent decrees, constitution and immunity goes, they will be discarding their suits and be in the famous coloured prison garbs for many long years to come.
