Editor,
It is not uncommon for State authorities to not do the right thing. Take for example the executions carried out by the Indonesian state authorities. In a courageous and conscientious Jakarta Globe editorial titled ' Do the Right Thing and Show Mercy President Jokowi ' ( 24/04 ) an appeal was made to the president to not go ahead with the " state sanctioned murder " of the Bali Nine drug offenders.
President Jokowi however ignored all pleas for clemency including ones made by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon . The executions have been carried out. Has this proved president Jokowi to be a strong leader? Or, has it simply proved that he is the wrong leader for a modern day democratic nation?
A strong leader shows moral courage to do what is right. This is why leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King are still revered.
The former furniture maker and current President for 6 months Jokowi Widodo chose to do not what is right but what is politically expedient for him to consolidate himself in power.
Leaders like that tend to get forgotten from the very day they lose power.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Whether these FFP scoundrels face justice as they should if FICAC does what it is meant to do, the Fijileaks revelations are still very important because they expose what these so called "leaders " really are - parasitical scoundrels !
