FIGHTING TO PROTECT HIS JAPANESE SITA's DIGNITY: Dismissed NFP provisional candidate Hiroshi Taniguchi considers legal action against NFP leader Prasad. 'Saneem says the texts should be reported to Police'

13/10/2022

As we stated previously, examining the series of late-night texts from NFP leader Biman Prasad to Taniguchi's wife, we concluded that the matter was for POLICE to investigate, not the Fijian Elections Office. Criminal Offence: The texts contained alleged harassment and civil wrongdoing, for it was causing Mrs Taniguchi alarm, and anxiety, and she was distraught. The Electoral Act only protects candidates and parties and doesn't include or protect candidates' wives from

Former National Federation Party provisional candidate Hiroshi Taniguchi says he will take serious legal action against his former party leader Professor Biman Prasad.

This as the complaint lodged by Taniguchi against Prasad with the Fijian Elections Office was dismissed on Tuesday.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem yesterday stated that the complaint lacked any legal basis, under the Electoral Act 2014.

Responding to questions from FBC News after the dismissal of his complaint, Taniguchi says he will now take legal action.

Taniguchi further states he took the matter to FEO to protect his wife as he did not want to make it serious.
It is alleged that Professor Prasad sent Whatsapp messages to Taniguchi’s wife, which Taniguchi describes as shockingly disgusting.

Taniguchi says the FEO’s response is that this matter should be reported to the police.
He further adds that the Electoral Act only protects candidates and parties and doesn’t include any candidate’s spouse.

Fiji Women’s Rights Movement Executive Director, Nalini Singh has refused to comment on allegations leveled against National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad.

The allegations about Biman were made by Hiroshi Tanigichi, an NFP provisional candidate who was removed after being vocal about some of his proposals for the upcoming General Election.

Following his removal, Taniguchi claims that the NFP Leader has been sending his wife what he calls shockingly disgusting messages.
