Why don't you bloody ask your Health Minister boss Rosy Akbar why she had parked her Ministerial Car in a Disabled Bay; We salute the brave woman who captured the abuse (which is routine in Fiji hospitals) on her mobile phone to expose the rot in Fiji's Health system The Fiji Times (13 April 2017): 'Ministry of Health permanent secretary Philip Davies told the media that the security at hospitals nationwide would be tightened. He said it was not clear how the woman who took the video of the exchange with the nurse had gotten into a usually secure part of the hospital. It is understood she was not a member of the family.'

It's not hard to see how this Philip Davies fala has got to be permanent secretary . He talks more like a military man preoccupied with security at our hospitals than a civilian manager concerned with the quality of service provided to the public at the hospitals.

Ministry of Health permanent secretary Philip Davies is behaving like a typical heartless bureaucrat preoccupied with " security " rather than the public who they are meant to serve as public servants. His focus on " security " in this tragic incident is misplaced. The incidence is crying out for a proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the baby at our public hospital and the unprofessional behaviour of the medical staff .

Philip Davies; Have you watched any of the reports about United Airlines CEO's handling of his airlines ejection of a full paying passenger so as to make room for 'free traveling staff? If not, I suggest you do, because if your first reaction to the incident in Lautoka Hospital is to question how someone got into a supposedly secure area, and not about the grieving family and their right to 'answers' and the outrageous treatment they received at the hands of your staff. Then you sir are almost as stupid as the United CEO was in his initial response, which he eventually had to 'correct' but not before the Airline stocks took an $800 million dive. As the PS of Health on a $200,000 plus salary I believe, you need to step up and take responsibility and sort the concerns of the grieving family out as a first step and give them the truth, with compassion for their loss.

Let's see whether Ashwin Raj will do anything to seek justice for this poor family. The baby was pronounced fine a day or two earlier but at birth was pronounced dead after birth with blood seeping from its nose. The least the PS for Health could have done was announce that a Post Mortem would be carried out and due to the questions around the child's death it would be performed by an outside doctor.. The abusive staff member should be sacked. And as the Ministry of Health has vicarious responsibility for her actions compensation should be paid to the family and the beauty queen Minuster, Rosy Akbar and her equally inept assistant Minister, Alex O'Connor should step down and out of public life

Why can't the Minister park her ministerial car in a disability bay? She is above the law as are the rest of the mob in Bainimarama's gangster government. These local gangster government wallahs are worse than the colonialists. They at least followed the laws they put in place to set an example for others . Being a government minister is now all about attracting extra special privileges to oneself - both in money and kind.

STOP ministerial power abuse! To make a difference. To stop the rot and save the country from bad governance that has come to characterise Bainimarama and Khaiyum's reign in power in Fiji.

The order came from bai and kai to increase the security at the hospital.

The utter folly of asking the wrong question in a situation so obviously becomes evident here. This measure of foolishness instills fear. Fear of memories triggered by a baby lying dead in its crib unbeknown and unrecognized by either parents of the medical staff on duty. The relevant questions must be asked and valid, honest explanations given. The historical background to this is not encouraging. A complete change of approach is required. Grieving parents deserve respect, dignity and comfort in their loss and pain. Surely, this is obvious to us all?

WE see so tragically, the rights to life denied to a baby only because of the crumbled state of affairs in our public healthcare in Fiji. It is sad to see the quality of the service received by the aggrieved. The PS Health will tighten security so we’ll see less – but God, almighty, we have seen enough. Our heart goes to the grieving family.
