This failed FFP candidate Dean (below) who got only 589 votes is waiting to take up Sanjit Patel's seat and Matai Akauola (615 votes) to take up Konrote's seat- what RUBBISH system that allows election losers under Khaiyum's d'Hondt system to take up seats in Parliament. If so, Khaiyum should gazette that all those students who failed their courses should be awarded their degrees; from Fijileaks Archive:

For once, I fully support reddy. Don't know if Fnu offers MBA course but USP and UOF program's are useless. I have done it and I regret wasting my money on it. Useless stuffs are taught which doesn't relate to real world. I wouldn't advise anyone to do it. Don't get caught in the flashy and misleading advertisements. As the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover.

One USP graduate whose degree was not rubbish is Professor Brij Lal. His USP degree laid the foundation for him to go on to become an academic of international repute.
The PM Voreqe Bainimarama praised golfer Vijay Singh saying he has " done himself and the national proud by making it into the top ranks of international golf and bringing such credit to Fiji... He is certainly an example to young Fijians of what can be achieved with drive and determination " ( Fiji Times 14/10 ).
What about Brij Lal? He has made it to the top in his field, hasn't he?
He too is an example for young Fijians to follow, isn't he?
So why is this son of Fiji who has brought such credit to Fiji banned from Fiji by Bainimarama ?
Perhaps academic success does not rank too highly in Bainimarama's scale of values vis a vis sports success?
That would be understandable.

Its not surprising that the Education Minister used to work for FNU when he's supposed to acknowledge all the other universities and institutions along with their respective qualifications.

Its like he thinks that FNU is the only top university with higher qualifications available in the country, which is a reflection of that narrow mind of his.

USP needs a change of guard something desperately. The VC needs to explain to the public why MBA programs have become redundant and ridiculed by U zoned to get it done

How can FNU qualifications be left intact after it gave degrees to dozens of students who did not complete all the subjects? From photos, Reddy issued the degrees. He and the gora fraud Ian Rose should have resigned in shame. But if not, should both not have been fired? By attacking USP, I think he is protecting his own misdeeds in issuing degrees to those who did not qualify.

Editor,
People genuinely interested in an objective understanding of MBA program's should read Abraham Zaleznik's book The Managerial Mystique (1989 ).
The book is a critical assessment of the managerial mystique practiced in business and taught in business schools. It seeks to make the case for bringing the human character back to centre stage in the drama of business ( Google Books).
" in The Managerial Mystique , Abraham Zaleznik's asserts that business has gone overboard in adopting the managerial ethic, which stresses order and predictability over visionary thinking and bold actions emblematic of true leadership. He argues that too many American companies are hobbled by conservative management practices ... ( everyone else including business schools in Fiji copy the American model ).Calling for change in the status quo, Zaleznik's demonstrates the dangers of managerial tunnel vision, questions the lessons of today's elite MBA program's, and discloses the elements of successful leadership " ( Review on the Book ).
Abraham Zaleznik's is the Konosuke Matsushita Professor of Leadership at the Harvard Business School and is a certified psychoanalyst . Internationally renown for his research in leadership and social psychology in the business setting. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award 1996 and the McKinsey award for best article in the Harvard Business Review.
I found his book very illuminating and an eye opener that explodes a lot of myths about the beauty and wonder of the many elite business courses and MBAs offered around the world and accepted uncritically by many universities.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu
