No assurance given by the Fiji First Theft Party government of Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum is worth the paper it's written on.
It has a history of not honouring any commitment it has pledged. It is a government that has lied and bullied its way into way. It remains it's modus operandi.

Bainimaramas government has already set precedent on being self-contradictory, they have hardly upheld their promises, why are we even expecting them to do it different this time round. Plus, I have sensed that this government shares special hatred for unionists, so here we go, No surprises in them deviating from this agreed MOU.

Let us not forget that the Bainimarama brigand has never been for the ordinary workers of the country. That is why it continued to put obstacles in the work of Fr Kevin Barr's wages council .
They have always been for their elitist friends in the military, the business ( both local and foreign ), in the chiefly set up and in civil society..But they are adept at paying lip service about the ordinary workers and their family.

Good on FTUC to blatantly point out to the Government that their 2013 Constitution is an IMPOSTION on the people of Fiji. It does not represent the over-whelming ‘will’ of the people of Fiji. The illegal 2013 Constitution is NOT a result of the recommendations of the Yash Ghai CRC. It is a document which has NOT been discussed, at large, with the People of Fiji.

More importantly, the Supreme Court of Fiji has yet to rule on the validity of the abrogation of the Peoples’ 1997 Constitution of Fiji.

The 2013 Constitution is an Illegal document.

The workers of the world unite to DECLARE the 2013 Constitution of Fiji - illegal.

The 2013 Constitution lacks the mandate of the People of Fiji. It is Khaiyum and Bainimarama's Constitution and NOT the Constitution of Fiji - no way !

The 1997 Constitution Lives - I am a Fijian and I have rights to MY living 1997 Constitution.

...."Sir, unlike our previous Constitutions, the 1997 Constitution is a peoples’ Constitution, whereby, ‘we the people of Fiji’ gave ourselves the 1997 Constitution. As a peoples’ Constitution, the ‘sovereignty’ is always vested (and remains vested) in the people of Fiji. No mere man (or even a mighty President) can amend or abrogate the 1997 Constitution – that’s the prerogative of the people, vide their parliament. Anything else is a delusion."

ILO please note that Fiji Government has NOT adhered to any of its pre-election promises of FREE education- tuition fees, books, bus fares and MILK. These were the vote-buying bull-shit shoved up the People’s faces – and now to believe that this government is promising workers FREE Medicine and FREE water is a bit too much to gobble – is it not?

Never mind that a good proportion of the Zimbabwean population is unable to make ends meet. Many do not know where their next meal will come from. But the plight of his people does not stop the Zimbabwean president, the dictator Robert Mugabe, from throwing for himself a lavish multi-million dollar birthday party.
I wonder whether any of a similar political feather from our part of the world has been invited to celebrate the dictator's birthday.

Fake government and Sellout Unionists

The FijiFake Party government which stooped so, so low so as to even STEAL another political party's name for itself has no honour or dignity to make any promises for workers or worker rights.

This Fake-named government has been anti worker rights from the word go - It was very unfortunate to see trade-unionist like Felix Anthony and Rajeshwar Singh arse-licking this regime in the beginning....and there lies the sorrow of the workers.

However, these sell-out Unionist are making amends -but how effectively ?

The Cabinet has increased the Minimum Wage effective from 15th July 2015 - If the government was so concerned with Minimum wage of workers why not back date it to 15th of July 2014 ??

Bloody Hypocrites ...

IN times like this, we the uselessly retired, remember our dreams and our struggles in the fulfillment of those dreams - by the formation of the multi-racial Fiji Labour Party. The birthplace of FLP was at the FTUC HQ, in Suva under the Presidency, vision and leadership of a committed trade unionist, Dr. Bavadra. The FLP was workers’ unity against low-wage, wage-freeze, high unemployment USP Students’ hunger strike and corruption of the Alliance government.

MPChaudary did a coup on the FLP making it his personal party and all the worker rights and trade union rights and issues were relegated to the back. Alas, we cried the division and demise of FLP in 2001 elections. Chaudhary from being a trade unionist became an accumulator of wealth, a multi-millionaire – and the workers of Fiji lost all.

But beta, listen to us oldies, we do need unionists in the parliament - All good democracies in the world -UK, India, Australia, NZ, USA, Germany/EU countries ALL have unionists who represent worker rights in parliament.

Trade Union rights are Human Rights - remember.
