Their case has been adjourned to 5th of next month; Sitiveni Qiliho re-instated them and now they are part of the team tasked to investigate former ACP and Director of Intelligence, Henry Brown

Fijileaks to Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice: "Would you allow yourself and your family members to be interrogated by a bunch of police and military officers who are charged with BRUTAL RAPE and INSTRUCTING OTHER POLICE OFFICERS TO MAKE FALSE STATEMENTS? We are not defending ACP Henry Brown but what we are objecting to is the presence of these alleged rapists, liars and torturers tasked by acting Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho to interrogate Brown! Why these police and military officers have not been suspended from duties? Why are they allowed to investigative other suspects in your Police Stations? Like other citizens they should be IMMEDIATELY SUSPENDED - ACP Brown was sent on leave pending investigations. What guarantee do we have that Superintendent Manasa Talala and Corporal Viliame Vereivalu, who are charged with rape, and instructing other fellow Police Officers to make false statements, will not shove their police batons like they did on Soko, up yours or your wife's rectums if and when you two are taken in for questioning over the false declaration of assets under your political parties decree? Qiliho's cock-up must not be followed by a cover- up"

* The composition of the Commissioners Task Force team [tasked to investigate Brown] led by Superintendent Manasa Talala who together with another member Corporal Viliame Vereivalu are currently facing criminal charges in relation to Vilikesa Soko’s death in custody in Nadi. These charges were laid with other Police Officers by an Internal Affairs investigation when Internal Affairs Department was under my portfolio. How can a police officer investigate a senior officer when he is facing criminal charges in open court under my direction through Director Internal Affairs?

"The presence of Military Intelligence officers daily in the Task Force office also does not augur well for me, as
these are the military officers I had ordered investigated in the ‘You Tube’ beating." - Brown to Qiliho, resignation letter

Aiyaz and Frank are out of control. They have lost all moral and legal right to remain in control of Fiji. Such abhorrent acts as shielding criminals, and then asking them to investigate the very man who got them charged, calls for Aiyaz and Frank to be arrested and charged. Nothing short.

So do we need another coup to remove them?

Or should we wait for the next elections and vote differently this time?

Stop hyperventilating. Propose practical solutions!

Why a coup? Police (not Qiliho; the whole police force) lay charge on Aiyz and Frank and arrest them. Parliament will continue. Can not 2 people be charged in this country? Both Frank and Aiyaz always said - think outside the box. So Vili, think outside the box of coups.

Then please go ahead and get policemen to arrest and charge the two people you mention.

If you cant do that legally, then what other avenues are there?

Pull your head out of your arse and go out and smell the roses.

Enjoy your 'suruwa' this weekend!

Please editor and other contributors please focus on this point to engage reputable organisations such as EU who are already committed to this noble course and already an agreement is signed with the Government BUT HOW EFFECTIVE OR just SELECTIVE cases to just for the showcase?WE need to know how and where to approach to raise our serious concerns.

It has to happen. There will be disciplined forces MEN who will do what their oaths require them to do. I am confident that in the over 20,000 disciplined services people, there will be sufficient MEN to stand to their oaths. Suruwa will then be served to the two corrupt dictators then.

Bai and Khai are two most dangerous cancers acting to destroy the heart and soul of our tiny nation. Rather than standing firm to condemn their well published acts, leaders and reps of other democratic nations and organisations do not seem to care. In fact, their stand has served to condone and encourage the two dictators. But the time is fast approaching when they will have to face the consequences of their actions. As has been said many times, whatever a man sows, that he shall also reap.

To our people of Fiji, we must realise that our destiny lies within our grasp. No other outside person will help us kill the cancers afflicting our nation. What are we still waiting for? We must agree and take action NOW. That is the only wat we will arrest the CANCER and save our nation.

History shows us Leaders and reps of democratic nations and organisations have propped up many more bigger dictators than our two because it served their interest to do so. That is hypocrisy inherent in international relations. Remember George Speight's perceptive statement at the time of his " civilian" - military sanctioned - coup. He said the international gang will eventually come around to accepting the new regime and be willing to play marble with the new mob in power. That is precisely what has come to pass following the Bainimarama military coup.

"We must agree and take action NOW." (your quote).

I am reminded of that comic strip of the masked Lone Ranger and his Indian side-kick Tonto. Remember them?

When the Lone Ranger tells Tonto "we must go round up them Injuns".

Tonto replies "Who's we ?

So tell us Tomasi, whats your plan?

Vinaka Vili. You asked two questions: Who are we? And What is your plan?
We means the people of Fiji who value our freedoms and our rights. We refers to all of us who have recognised the vanity of spectating from the sidelines and commentating endlessly on the evil machinations and outright criminal and thuggish actions of this regime. We includes all who have done their best for this country but have been duped to believe that Bai and Khai have legitimately won an election that gives them the right to dictate our lives and our future. We refers to you and me who share their views in blogs such as this and others. We realise that Bai and Khai and their partners in deceit, crime and psychological warfare such as QORVIS are banking on the fact that we shall continue to engage in discussions in blogs but will never have the courage to act out our plans to wrestle back control from these thugs. We refers to those of us who treasure our future so much that we are prepared to ACT NOW through well planned actions of defiance and protests to tell this regime we have had enough and it is time for them to go.We includes men and women from all sectors of the economy, civil servants and private sector people, chiefs and ordinary folks, security and defence personnel, teachers, doctors, nurses, bus and taxi drivers, hotel workers, market vendors, bank employees, journalists, NGOs. Etc.etc.etc. People whose relatives have been tortured, killed, maimed, and betrayed by the murderers and criminals who pose as leaders with the honourable cloaks before their names.
What is our plan? What can we agree on? Many have made good suggestions and initiatives on what must be done. The blogs are full of these. The dailies also contain some. MPs have referred to these. Grog sessions in markets, villages, settlements and workplaces have discussed this. It is not for me to make the PLAN. Only the god (dog) of Fiji Khaiyum deems himself worthy to decide for the other monkeys in his zoo and the people of Fiji.
As lawful citizens and God’s instruments, we must discuss what ACTIONS we must take to express our condemnation and protest against the wrongs of Bai and Khai and their regime. Prof Biman and his NFP MPs have expressed the same stance, that it is absolutely futile and unprofitable to engage with Bai and Khai in the sham of a democratic parliament. The former ComPol has resigned and returned to Sud Africa, having tried his very best to right the wrongs and bring the criminals to justice. Former army officers have resigned in protest against the dictatorship of Bai and Khai. The Constitutional Prof Ghai and his team spent precious dollars and resources consulting with the people of Fiji trying to formulate a Constitution for Fiji, only to witness the burning of the same by the Police under orders from the dictators who hired him and to see the imposition of a Constifusion on the nation.
There are many things we CAN DO, but we must think and plan and agree on what we MUST DO to stop the cancer that is devouring our nation. The question is HOW under the current repressive circumstances and Khai decrees.
May I suggest that as our representatives, we must ask the MPs on both sides of the House to call a meeting outside Parliament, with all other leaders of various organisations and sectors and communities, including churches, trade unions, etc. This shall be a meeting of all our leaders. The GCC could be reconvened again without the approval of the dictators. There are ways of doing this within the law. But if more decrees are made, then we will have to defy those decrees to achieve noble goals. A national referendum could be conducted to secure the vote of the people of Fiji on various issues, including the flag, termination of Bai, Khai, Bala, Qiliho, etc
Should a consensus be reached, we the people should take the necessary action to achieve our goals. Of course, we cannot be discussing everything here, knowing that the enemies are watching and listening to us. But whatever the PLAN, we must ACT NOW, and do something to serve them notice: IT IS TIME FOR BAI AND KHAI TO ANSWER TO THEIR CRIMES. WE WILL HAVE NO MORE OF THIS CANCER. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Vinaka Tomasi. I agree with your basic message except for the reconvening for the GCC. Its an undemocractic colonially-created (invented tradition) based on feudal values.

Having two different set of values (democratic vs feudal) operating side by side will only add to the confusion of the i'taukei.

Will you keep whining on the same?

Of course he wont!

Because Tomasi's mob (the 'So Help Me God' Party) will (heaven forbid) be in power.

They will bring with them their ethno-nationalist agenda that Tomasi is whingeing about eg the revival of the GCC, the removal of the current 'elite' (Tomasi names some of them eg Bai, Khai, Bala, Qiliho etc) and their replacement with their own eg Tikoca, Naiqama, Karavaki etc. And no doubt that 'Ben Chod' Rajendra Chauhdry will worm his way into that circle.

Thanks Vili. You are entitled to your opinion, including our Chiefs. But one may look at them as part of our history and culture and traditions that have served us well and brought us to where we are. We must not make hasty decisions on such a vital part of our society. It requires a lot of wisdom and reflection, strategic planning and sincere and thorough consultations on all those affected, especially the indigenous people. Social collapse may result when we rush change without adequately preparing the people for change. Incremental change is more advisable, and is written in the laws of nature. I suggest we adopt it to inform us on how do we get to ehere we want to be from here. Bai and Khai have a different agenda. Their is a selfish one, without any consideration of what is best for the people. We should do better. Fiji belongs to all of us, the different communities and cultural entities that constitute modern Fiji. But in trying to decide what is best for all of us, it would be wise and fair to let the indigenous people decide what is best for them as per their social structures, systems and values. Those cannot be imposed or manufactured from without. They must the result of genuine consultations and a systematic plan of incremental changes through time.

After all Vili, to put it very simply. Imagine your pal Khaiyum, coming to your home, and telling you that he is now the head of your family and your role as head of the family ceases fortwith. The same applies to every indigenous Fijian family across your neighbourhood. Then later, you learn that there are no more leaders in the Fijian villages, but all are directly under Khaiyum's dictatorship. How would you feel about that "feudal system" Vili. Please let me know. Vinaka

I agree with you about the right of the i'taukei to self-determination and all that. My concern is that two diametrically opposed systems operating at the same level will only serve to confuse the i'taukei.

They will look around and note that whereas other races are only subject to one system of governance they are still subject to two. In other words they are over-overgoverned. History has shown that some chiefs have exploited their status for their own personal gain. In my own yavusa for example, the chief ued to spend all the lease money at the pub and only gave us five dollars per household while he is drives around in a Pajero.

Vili, I do not think our two systems are diametrically opposed as you put it. This is the garbage I heard thirty five years ago at university, and I challenged it then, and no one has ever convinced me about it. It is the laws and policies affecting our ownership and control of our resources that condemn us to poverty and servitude in our own land. Period. You only have to look at the indigenous people today and observe the glaring evidence of that. All the theories advanced to promote your opinion are simply theories.
Let me elaborate. My clan has more than 3,000 acres of land. We have been living on the land all this time. Much of the land is shared with our relatives and landless people who need help. We have never leased our land to anyone, because whenever we try to lease our land, the NLTB demands money and surveys, and other things from us. The banks know we own our lands. But they refuse to lend us money for small loans so that we could develop our lands. This is the same story for most of our people. Why must we have a body managing our lands when we can do so ourselves? Why should strangers manage our lands for us? Whose interest are they really protecting? But it’s a long story Vili, the story of how the colonial governors came to Viti and instituted social, political and economic activities to advance their goals and serve their agenda. Those policies and instituotions are still very much in place and they are the primary reasons for the lack of development and progress for people in our Fijian villages. It is not the Chiefs Vili. Stop believing in the lies and theories bandied about. You seem to have a brain. Use it wisely, with logic of course.
Secondly, assuming you are telling the truth, the fact that your chief treated you unfairly is not because he is a chief, but because he is a selfish person, just like Bai and Khai. Using your logic, we should do away with the Government, because the PM and the AG 9two modern chiefs,) are the worst thieves, murderers, liars, etc. Again Vili, use your brain, with logic. Vinaka.

Until the day Tomasi that these hard done by land owners you talk of take responsibility and not expect others to take the risk and back you just what do you expect?

So you get a loan from the bank, default on it, then what? Dig up a pile of soil and hand it to the bank....................................

The idea of collective ownership of land vis a vis individual ownership with title is a cause of the poverty of some landowners.

The Land Bank is a better alternative to the NLTB (ITLB) who takes their cut (poundage) from every deal. Traditional Landowners cant make a move without the ILTB being involved. It is a corrupt institution.

You resolve those two issues I refer to above and you are on your way to glory Tomasi.

Alby, we realised that education was a vital key to our progress. We used that route and that is why we became successful as far our values and modern societal standards are concerned.

Oh for your information, I am a chief, and our family helps people rather than use them for our own selfish gains. We never see ourselves as people above others, but blessed with the privilege of serving all people according to God's high standards. We are never perfect, but we try our best nevertheless. For in God's eyes, we are all the same, but not equal. Equality is a concept never found in the Bible, but in the public pronouncements of figures and organisations who practise quite the opposite when it comes to serving people.

Ratu Tomasi. All I can say is that if we had chiefs who espouse the values that you espouse above in your latest post about serving the people etc then Fiji would be a better place. I salute you and your family for doing so.

Sadly though, yours is the exception not the rule. We saw, for example, how the GCC in 1987 and 2000 politically aligned themselves with racially divisive policies of the government of the day. They turned a blind eye to the rape and pillage of ethnic minorities and the Indo-Fijian population in particular.. Where was their commitment to "serving all people according to God's high standards" ? (your words). Their commitment then was not to God's 'high calling" but to the temporal goal of political domination. And they all thumped their Bibles and shouted 'Halleluja' as all these sordid deeds were being carried out with the connivance of the Pharisees in the Methodist Church.

A tenet of the 'democratisation' studies/debate holds that for democracy to succeed in a post-conflict state which is transitioning to democracy (you could argue that after eight years of military rule Fiji fits this category) then democracy has to be the only game in town.

The idea of the 'Divine Right' of chiefs to rule and in your own words that God created us all the same but not equal (a highly contestable theological notion in Christianity) are ideas that are deeply embedded in the ideology of i'taukei paramountcy that is the political platform of the 'So Help Me God' Party.

The roping in of 'God' and misrepresentations of His teachings to cover for our political ambitions is something we should all be highly suspicious of. In Fiji, we see and hear this from the pulpit preaching that 'we are all the same but not equal' in God's eyes etc.

It is a false doctrine; a misrepresentation of God's Holy Word to promote a political ideology that preaches the inviolability of chiefly rule over their commoner subjects. It is an outmoded (feudal) idea.

If we want democracy, then it has to be "the only game in town".

Ni vakacegu.
