Their case has been adjourned to 5th of next month; Sitiveni Qiliho re-instated them and now they are part of the team tasked to investigate former ACP and Director of Intelligence, Henry Brown LAW AT THE LOWEST EBB IN KHAIYUM'S FIJI Fijileaks to Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice: "Would you allow yourself and your family members to be interrogated by a bunch of police and military officers who are charged with BRUTAL RAPE and INSTRUCTING OTHER POLICE OFFICERS TO MAKE FALSE STATEMENTS? We are not defending ACP Henry Brown but what we are objecting to is the presence of these alleged rapists, liars and torturers tasked by acting Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho to interrogate Brown! Why these police and military officers have not been suspended from duties? Why are they allowed to investigative other suspects in your Police Stations? Like other citizens they should be IMMEDIATELY SUSPENDED - ACP Brown was sent on leave pending investigations. What guarantee do we have that Superintendent Manasa Talala and Corporal Viliame Vereivalu, who are charged with rape, and instructing other fellow Police Officers to make false statements, will not shove their police batons like they did on Soko, up yours or your wife's rectums if and when you two are taken in for questioning over the false declaration of assets under your political parties decree? Qiliho's cock-up must not be followed by a cover- up" * The composition of the Commissioners Task Force team [tasked to investigate Brown] led by Superintendent Manasa Talala who together with another member Corporal Viliame Vereivalu are currently facing criminal charges in relation to Vilikesa Soko’s death in custody in Nadi. These charges were laid with other Police Officers by an Internal Affairs investigation when Internal Affairs Department was under my portfolio. How can a police officer investigate a senior officer when he is facing criminal charges in open court under my direction through Director Internal Affairs?

Aiyaz and Frank are out of control. They have lost all moral and legal right to remain in control of Fiji. Such abhorrent acts as shielding criminals, and then asking them to investigate the very man who got them charged, calls for Aiyaz and Frank to be arrested and charged. Nothing short.

So do we need another coup to remove them?

Why a coup? Police (not Qiliho; the whole police force) lay charge on Aiyz and Frank and arrest them. Parliament will continue. Can not 2 people be charged in this country? Both Frank and Aiyaz always said - think outside the box. So Vili, think outside the box of coups.

Then please go ahead and get policemen to arrest and charge the two people you mention.

It has to happen. There will be disciplined forces MEN who will do what their oaths require them to do. I am confident that in the over 20,000 disciplined services people, there will be sufficient MEN to stand to their oaths. Suruwa will then be served to the two corrupt dictators then.

Bai and Khai are two most dangerous cancers acting to destroy the heart and soul of our tiny nation. Rather than standing firm to condemn their well published acts, leaders and reps of other democratic nations and organisations do not seem to care. In fact, their stand has served to condone and encourage the two dictators. But the time is fast approaching when they will have to face the consequences of their actions. As has been said many times, whatever a man sows, that he shall also reap.

History shows us Leaders and reps of democratic nations and organisations have propped up many more bigger dictators than our two because it served their interest to do so. That is hypocrisy inherent in international relations. Remember George Speight's perceptive statement at the time of his " civilian" - military sanctioned - coup. He said the international gang will eventually come around to accepting the new regime and be willing to play marble with the new mob in power. That is precisely what has come to pass following the Bainimarama military coup.

Vinaka Tomasi. I agree with your basic message except for the reconvening for the GCC. Its an undemocractic colonially-created (invented tradition) based on feudal values.

Thanks Vili. You are entitled to your opinion, including our Chiefs. But one may look at them as part of our history and culture and traditions that have served us well and brought us to where we are. We must not make hasty decisions on such a vital part of our society. It requires a lot of wisdom and reflection, strategic planning and sincere and thorough consultations on all those affected, especially the indigenous people. Social collapse may result when we rush change without adequately preparing the people for change. Incremental change is more advisable, and is written in the laws of nature. I suggest we adopt it to inform us on how do we get to ehere we want to be from here. Bai and Khai have a different agenda. Their is a selfish one, without any consideration of what is best for the people. We should do better. Fiji belongs to all of us, the different communities and cultural entities that constitute modern Fiji. But in trying to decide what is best for all of us, it would be wise and fair to let the indigenous people decide what is best for them as per their social structures, systems and values. Those cannot be imposed or manufactured from without. They must the result of genuine consultations and a systematic plan of incremental changes through time.

I agree with you about the right of the i'taukei to self-determination and all that. My concern is that two diametrically opposed systems operating at the same level will only serve to confuse the i'taukei.

Vili, I do not think our two systems are diametrically opposed as you put it. This is the garbage I heard thirty five years ago at university, and I challenged it then, and no one has ever convinced me about it. It is the laws and policies affecting our ownership and control of our resources that condemn us to poverty and servitude in our own land. Period. You only have to look at the indigenous people today and observe the glaring evidence of that. All the theories advanced to promote your opinion are simply theories.

The idea of collective ownership of land vis a vis individual ownership with title is a cause of the poverty of some landowners.

Alby, we realised that education was a vital key to our progress. We used that route and that is why we became successful as far our values and modern societal standards are concerned.

Ratu Tomasi. All I can say is that if we had chiefs who espouse the values that you espouse above in your latest post about serving the people etc then Fiji would be a better place. I salute you and your family for doing so.
