"Dear Fijileaks Editor: Well the Fiji Sun misses me. I wrote to Government in early June even before I got back from Geneva for dates for us to meet. The response I got was that Government would let me know. Am still waiting and there is no word from Government. I am not going to be running after them for a meeting. If you go into our FTUC website I have issued a statement last Friday, which Fiji Sun has not published,  stating the FTUC position. Yet they say I am being quiet. Insofar as the report to the ILO goes, Government prepared a report which was factually incorrect and had omissions. I refused to sign the report until amendments were made. Government refused and decided it would submit the report on its own with Employers signing on. I was left with no option but to submit a separate report. Government underestimated its decision to submit its own report and Fiji Sun is now blaming me for a separate report. It was Government's decision to submit its own report despite an agreement to submit a joint report. You will note that the FTUC position is very clear on the issue: http://ftuc.org/".

Its funny . Nemani is convoluting ! I thought the whole world knew that the union body disagreed with the amended report and have submitted one of their own. They gave their reasons. It was done within the ILO deadline. And it was no surprise at the ILO governing body that there was no report with tripartite endorsement.

Any party has a right to dissent. The trade union body is expected to promote and uphold workers interests across the widest sections of the community. They are accountable to and have the mandate of their membership.

What did not take place was further consultations and negotiations to arrive at a joint report. Who actually should be blamed for that?

One wonders how sitting beside the learned Guatemala reps and answering questions on human rights and labour reports puts someone in an insulting position.Isn't that whats it all about ? Is this man Felix Anthony also responsible for seating arrangements at the ILO general assembly, Nemani ? Shouldn’t the minister answer questions ? He needs to earn his pay and who has put him in the situation, where unlike you Nemani , he can’t twist? He only can make his life easy by getting genuine and proper advice and attaining global perspectives..

As for Nemani Delaibatiki, keep on earning your dishonest days’ pay, you are very much the top contender for Twisting Journalism prize!

Well said Kavita. But no point in labouring the point that Nemani Delaibatiki is a journalist gone to seed. His pro- Bainimarama regime pieces in the propaganda newspaper the Fiji Sun have become all too predictable. The man has lost his journalistic integrity and credibility.

Editor,
Let's face it in the real world we have journalist who set aside their journalistic scruples to suck up to the mob in power and we have journalist who speak truth to power.
Jonathan Holmes the Age columnist and former presenter of ABC's Media Watch belongs to the latter category. His latest article ' Don't let PM dismantle law of land ' 15/7 is a well reasoned and articulated critique of the Australian PM Tony Abbot's attempt to dismantle the principles of common law as enshrined in the Magna Carta in pursuit of his political agenda.
Not all journalist can speak truth to power in that way to " keep the bastards honest " - which is one of the key things good journalism is meant to do.
Nemani Delaibatiki is clearly no longer in that class of journalism.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Well, unfortunately its the Fiji Snub who is willing to do anything to deny that of which may be a dent in the current govt since its nothing more that its eyes and ears like those lousy journalists who run it along with its editor and its biased reporting.

Thats why I prefer the Fiji Times who's willing to report free and fairly even if the lousy government accuses it of "supposed contempt" when its only doing their job of reporting anything necessary in the know.

Everyone involved in the cases have their own personal agenda and the innocent public have to suffer the consequence. Felix is egoistic fool who is using his position as a union bigwig to take revenge on the treatment he received from bainimarama lackeys in the military. Government as usual is trying to fool the public of serving them while their motive us to ensure that they rip off the public as much as possible so the benefits can pass to their associates. Fiji sun is in bed with the government as it knows that there is money to be made by being with rather than against government. Fiji times is in bed with opposition as its owners are barred from Fiji and as usual is playing the stirring the fire role that it's known for. The innocent public who has been caught in between all these game playing is the only loser. If Felix wins, public won't benefit as the government will have to bear the loss which off course comes from taxpayers. If government wins, the public will again suffer as the government will then reward all its associates which again will costs the taxpayers. Suffer the public. We are doomed either way.

Felix Anthony's Demise Defined

This man abandoned his fearless demeanour of fighting for his member's rights by greedily joining the illegal regime.

As Chair of Natadola Project with the help of illegal decrees he tore apart Legal Contracts, harassed his predecessors and shamed our own Vijay Singh.

New contracts and Consultants were appointed and awarded multi million dollar projects without proper tender and due diligence.

And what a turn around now, crying out for the poor workers... no one is fooled.

Natadola will get investigated one day and thugs like Felix will see Naboro.

Please go away, you are one bad smell.

When power enters one's head principles often make a fast exit.
Anthony is not the only Labour man to suffer from that bimari!
