This is Alarmist propaganda. Victor, bro, u should know better.

The soldiers are on a final exercise for their deployment to Syria. The Army has always used the dry western belt for their Middle East training coz its the closest they can get to Middle East conditions. They have been doing that since 1978.

They passed by Tavua town and stopped by to buy Indian sweets etc from the local 'Mitai' sellers there. They do the same in RakiRaki, Nausori, Navua etc etc.

I dont expect you to publish this post because it does not fit into your frame of a military run unstable Fiji ala Zimbabwe.

Get a grip my brother.

It's Teleni's Cult

Christian State? OMG -Then it is surely Teleni - the fanatic, 'The Praise the Lord' type. Military should stop wasting time in Tavua and arrest Teleni now. Sent him on another stint to Communist China.

Armed soldiers strutting around in Tavua looks like a scene from a banana republic!
Nobody is buying the bullshit that the soldiers are on routine training.

Hey Dekho,

The military has been in Fiji before you and you and your ancestors arrived in Fiji. They have been exercising all over Fiji since the British colonial days.

Just coz they have been given time off to go buy their 'mitai' and other creature comforts in the nearest town, does not mean they are taking over the country. Strewth!!!

Soldiers do use rifles when on training. Accept that it is the nature of their business. They are not Girl Guides to turn up in public with skipping ropes!!!

Relax mada my brother.

The GCC has been abolished because it is a colonial creation. Why hasn't the military been abolished? It is also a colonial creation, isn't it? The colonialists used the military to keep the natives in line. now the native rulers is using the military to keep fellow natives in line?
Finally when the soldier bully boys are on training they shouldn't be eating " mitai "!

banana republic indeed

all the hallmarks of Fiji becoming a banana republic.
but looks like it will be worst then Zimbabwe.

the sooner china or some other superpower buys Fiji as a going concern, the better.

Girls are Good.

Yeah, we never had any problems with girl-guides ever over-throwing any of our elected governments of the past. The Girl guides are good not treasonous lot like the goons of the military. Fiji military has been disloyal, oppressed and tortured the very People it should be protecting - from CHORS like Aiyaz and Bainimarama. Your comments on Dekho's ancestors are unnecessary.

FRAUD 2013 Constitution

So a Coup is in the clutches (clauses) of Khaiyum FRAUD 2013 Constitution whereby He can order Constitutionally sanctioned Parliamentary 'blackouts' (with Speaker's consent) disrupting and hijacking normal democracy - an inherent and fundamental principle of which is 'transparency'.

Were there really people arrested in Tavua? While Victor should make double sure of his allegations with proofs and facts, I agree that soldiers should not be running around town with weapons in a peaceful environment.

Editor,
Professor Brij Lal was spot on when he predicted in his article ' Fiji elections : the long road to democracy ' ( The Drum ABC 15/09/2014 ) as follows : " as Fiji prepares to go to the polls tomorrow, there is hope for some semblance of democracy. But under the expected rule of Frank Bainimarama ,the country would enjoy a fragile peace..."
See also The Drum ABC 2/3/2014 article ' Fiji's future far from certain even with elections '.
The cracks are beginning to show.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Soldiers in full military regalia on the streets of a town in Fiji as witnessed in the Fijileaks photo above is but another confirmation that thug military rule is alive and well in Fiji under the former military dictator Frank Bainimarama who now is a pretend elected democratic prime minister.

The military that goes around in civilian towns in full battle regalia but surrenders without firing a shot in peacekeeping operation. What would happen to them in a real war, shit in their pants like their former Commander did? What a shame.

I agree with you Mike, but at least to show some professionalism, we not in hostile environment here.I saw weapons "pointing up" when they were in the truck moving about. Not a problem if they going to the shop which we always proud of,checking out local chicks etc .. but someone have to look after the weapons.i see their senior leader should takes the blame for not briefing young soldiers.

The Christian State saga may not go down well with the other religious groups unless it genuinely does so.

The military is yet to fire shots that they don't seem that intimidating anyway because they're just there to show off with their heavy gear and guns. In a real war, they would surrender immediately instead of fighting back and flee like cowards.
