Like Khaiyum's Midlife Investment files, GSL files are now missing for scrutiny at Fiji's Company Office!

COMING SOON: A joint investigation between Fijileaks and a team of Canadian investigative journalists over the purchase of the controversial the Queen of Chilliwack, now plying Fijian high seas as
Lomaiviti Princess 111

“We are growing. In three years, we have made three major investments and our plan is to invest $10 million in Fiji. My wife is financing all my investments in Fiji from Canada” - George Goundar, 30 September 2015

The BCF spokeswoman Deborah Marshall said in a recent statement that the Queen of Chilliwack was sold to N&J Mechanical Distributors Ltd of Vancouver B.C., who subsequently sold the vessel to Goundar Shipping of Fiji in September 2015. In August 2015 Bainimarama inspected it with Goundar. Did Bainimarama travel to Canada in August on a private visit to give his seal of approval? Or did his FFP government financially chip in? Fijileaks: We could not find any records on N & J but company linked to Mrs Goundar in one of the documents obtained by us. The Goundars are not responding to our questions regarding their 'vast business empire'!

Goundar shipping is providing a very valuable service to the northerners and maritime islands. Since this company started, people has got a choice and are able to overcome the bullies in Patterson shipping. I pray that this company continues operating in the long run. It's the saviour for a lot of people as the plane fares are very very expensive. Thank you Goundar shipping. You are the best.

Really when you are in business , you do it legally. If its under the table crap , service is irrelevant. Its the government of Fiji to provide the relevant service , not the responsibility of a business entity like Gandu Shipping. He may be providing the service , then provide on time , best service possible. Goundar shipping wanted the route licence , so he got it. competition is part of the relevance not because people want it , its a requirement by the government of fiji for the tax payers of Northern division . If he has the licence to that route then why is he running after where Peterson is doing business. Stick to your route. You know how much people in the north suffer when Gandu decides to run after competition. Late night arrivals , early morning departures. Beside that the food prices on the boat ? Killer gounder. No mercy. If you want to do business do it right. If not botton line is its the Government's duty to provide the Tax payers of this country.

Charlie, charlie

That is not the issue. What is at issue is whether the Goundars have lied about the source of the money etc - that is the issue - anyway, why is his files not available for inspection - he says he bought the vessel for $3million - where did he get the money from etc Just because someone gives you food doesnt mean that it is ok to eat without asking where he got our bought it from to feed you

@seafarer, I don't think that it's anyone's concern where he gets his money from. If the government financed it, it's good as Goundar shipping is providing a service that the government should have been providing in the first place. Government had given grants upto half million dollars to bale investments and peni moi. These companies don't even provide public service. Let's not kill a golden goose that is contributing to the well being of so many people especially the underprivileged who can't afford expensive plane fares. Goundar shipping deserves an award not condemnation. People like me who have suffered as a result of pathetic services provided by Patterson and suliven are greatful that Goundar shipping is around. It may not mean anything to those that don't travel to the northern and maritime areas but for us who depend on ships for travel to our villages and back, Goundar shipping is our saviour. If the company gets doomed, we will be back to ground zero with Patterson and it's pathetic service. As far as missing files in companies office goes, it's not a new thing as you can hardly find any files with complete information there anyway. Let's not light a fire and burn our own house. For some it doesn't matter. For us, Goundar shipping is our light in an otherwise dark shipping service to the north and maritime areas.

We should always be concerned where businessman get their money.
Is it clean or is it dirty money? That is so fundamental. If it is clean then no problem. But if it is dirty then the law should be after them. Businesses are not set up to do charity. They are set up to make money . It is the job of the Government to ensure its clean money that is being invested and clean money made by way of profit.

In the " New Fiji " fashioned by Bainimarama and Khaiyum old problems persist. Thus the Fiji mainstream media and its favoured letter writers continue to highlight the lingering problem of littering in towns and cities and even the countryside in Fiji.
And, that is not the only old problem that continues to linger in the"new" Fiji.
From the Fijileaks revelations you get a sense that old problems of wheeling and dealing, corruption, nepotism, favouritism, selective justice, racism, militarism etc remain alive and well.
