When truth is on your side there is no reason to be bowed or cowered. Keep doing what you have been doing with the same courage and commitment to reveal the truth about what is happening in our home country Fijileaks . Many at home and abroad rely on you to know the truth. And, you have delivered diligently to date.
It is not uncommon for journalists seeking to put the truth before the people to be attacked by those in power and their henchmen and big business interests.
Here's an example of that from Pakistan.
We learn from DAWN 25/11 article ' Journalists Under Siege in Pakistan : CPJ ' that two journalists have been killed recently. On Sunday a local television reporter Hafeezur Rehman was killed in Kohat. On Nov 3 Zaman Mehsud, a print journalist was shot dead in Tank. Also read editorial : Killing of Journalists.
Why are journalists attacked? Why are journalists killed?
It's because some people are prepared to go to any length to keep the truth from coming out.
But truth in today's world has a way of coming out no matter how much some try to suppress it.
We applaud the Fijileaks for its work on this front.

Ashneel Sudhakar threatens to exterminate opposition and this is not deemed as inappropriate behaviour by the Speaker and the Fiji First Party. In the UK a medical student who did exactly the same is banned from practising medicine for life.

A TRAINEE doctor was banned from practising medicine after he posted a famous Liam Neeson quote from the film Taken on his Facebook page.
Ravindu Thilakawardhana, who was in his fourth year studying medicine at the University of Leicester, became enraged when another student put explicit photos of his friend online in 2013.
Thilakawardhana responded with a photo of the actor alongside the words: “I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.”
He followed that with a threatening private message to the student, warning him: “I don’t want to see you on a night out in Leicester, or in the UK.”
The student reported Thilakawardhana to the medical school and he was given a reprimand before he was deemed “unfit to practice medicine” and kicked out of the course by a university disciplinary panel in April last year.
Thilakawardhana complained to an independent adjudicator and then to London’s High Court and was waiting to hear about his appeal this month.
His legal team, headed by Clive Newton QC, said their client had expressed remorse and deemed his punishment an overreaction.
They expressed the belief that the student, who posted the explicit images despite promising he had deleted them, had “carefully planned revenge” by “targeting [Thilakawardhana’s] future medical career”.
But the judge has upheld the university’s decision, ruling that the panel were right to conclude that what he did was “fundamentally incompatible with continuing on a medical course or eventually practising as a doctor”.

JAILING JOURNALISTS
We read in the abc news 27/11 article ' Hundreds Protest Jailing of 2 Journalists in Turkey ' that hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Istanbul office of an opposition newspaper Friday, accusing government of SILENCING CRITICS and ATTEMPTING TO COVER-UP A SCANDAL after two journalists - Cumhuriyet newspaper's editor-in-chief Can Dundar and the paper's Ankara rep Erden Gul - were jailed on terror and espionage charges for their reports on alleged Turkish arms smuggling to Syria .
The incident comes amid deepening CONCERNS OVER MEDIA FREEDOM IN TURKEY which aspires to join the European Union.
Prosecutors launched an investigation into the journalists after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan filed a criminal complaint.

The US Embassy expressed concern over the arrests of Dundar and Erdem and at the apparent pressure being exerted on Cumhuriyet.
" We hope the Turkish courts and authorities will uphold the fundamental principle of media freedom enshrined in the Turkish Constitution " the Embassy said on Twitter.
It is not uncommon to have lofty ideals of democratic rights and freedoms enshrined in a constitution without genuine commitment to it by those in power.
We know that from our own direct experience in the Fiji context.
