"[The student] was assaulted by headteacher [Sashi Kumar] today in school. Received 2 punches to scalp, then was hit with stick on back, and on left leg" - Sigatoka Hospital Medical Report, 13 October 2015; Fijileaks understands Kumar was also under investigation for alleged corruption

The Head Teacher of Naidovi Primary School in Sigatoka (Mr Sashi Kumar) is the principal assailant in the medical report. Kumar beat the Class 3 student in the school resulting in the student getting serious injuries on his leg and head. A police report and a medical report was done and the Education Ministry, surprisingly, has not SUSPENDED the head teacher from the school.
To make it worse, they have settled the police case (which was lodged earlier) without considering the welfare of the Class 3 student, who not only has to face the Head Teacher KUMAR on a daily basis but is now paralyzed with FEAR  during school hours and also whenever he runs into the student beater SASHI KUMAR.
The Police and Education Minister Reddy have been accused of protecting Kumar and forced the student's family to settle the police case

Mr. not-so-Reddy-to-reconcile sure knows how to stuff up alot on the job from not recognizing USP decrees, and now supporting the offending head teacher along with the cops at the expense of the devastated family who is left to cry foul over their child who was mistreated.

What was that idiot thinking by letting that damn head teacher off the hook and dummying justice at the same time?

No wonder why those men in blue tend to disappoint the public at times with their slacking and incompetence when they should have known better and just do their job like they're supposed to.

I am worried about the anxiety around our education system. Students doing form 7 exams are very worried. The general environment is not conducive to good learning. I can see worried looks on students in my family. What has become of Fiji. Students before used to look with hope. Now its depression. Something is seriously wrong with the whole management of education. Urgent action is needed.

What? and just bloody what is Unicef Fiji going to do about this??

Thank you Fiji Leaks for standing up for protecting the rights of a child - in a banana republic with obviously collapsed education system.

Shame on Bainimarama! Shame on Reddy! Shame on the bully teacher Sashi Kumar! ...and shame also on Unicef Fiji - for doing bugger all about protecting the Rights of the Child.

And the biggest SHAME on the FRAUD 2013 Constitution for failing to protect our CHILDREN at school.

Both the local elites and the foreign elites who warm the cushy seats in international organisations like the UNICEF are fond of doing the cocktail circuit and rubbing shoulders with the political mob in power.
They are mostly spineless gutless well heeled parasites.

Lets see if so called Children's Minister Rosy Akbar attends the said student n his family.
We also have to watch if any if the NGO's in Fiji has the guts to voice out on this issue.

I do not expect Media to say a word as they have become toothless tigers under Khaiyum's decrees.

Look in the banana republic of Fiji the thug rulers and their cronies ( like murderer minister Bala Sala ) have got away with murder so school dictator Sashi Kumar getting away with brutalising a student is not such a big deal under the prevailing Animal Farm situation which exist in Fiji. That's why you don't hear anything from UNICEF . They too busy giving themselves a good time. A student bashing in a banana republic is nothing for them and even for our NGOs. They have all become an impotent, self- serving lot. Anybody who expects the minister for children Rosy Akbar to stand up for the brutalised child does not know why she is there on a Fiji First Theft Party ticket.

This abuse of school student should be reported/investigated by the Human Rights Commissioner in Fiji. The Police Commissioner should also direct an investigation as to how this matter was reconciled or filed. Whats happened to the "No drop policy" on violence and abuse of children.

Rights?? What rights??
27/10/2015 05:32:21 am

What rights are we talking about???

Rights of the child, right to subsistence, right to housing, right of self determination, above all right to a fair trial????

Look - the reality is that in bai-kais contemporary Fiji, there is no such thing as rights. Its just a pompous aspiration on a fraudulent document (constitution) put in there to dupe the international community.

No wonder people like tomasi koroi are worried because there's no future for our kids in Fiji. Any teacher who had done as this pig kumar did to the student overseas would by now be behind bars awaiting trial.

“…Corporal punishment is in fact the infliction of violence. Such punishment in schools, which are supposed to be custodians of values of peace and tolerance, can only lead to children growing up to become violent adults. In recent years many parents have began to resent the idea of their children being hit by teachers.” [Landmark Case on Corporal Punishment – Justice Jayant Prakash -Naushad Ali vs State case (Criminal Appeal no HAA0083 of 2001L).

But that was under the Peoples’ 1997 Constitution of Fiji and laws seem radically changed under the CRIMINAL Khaiyum’s FRAUD 2013 Constitution.

Violence perpetuates Violence. A culture of Violence and a cycle of violence. Let's break this cycle.

Late Justice Jayant Prakash’s above mentioned case is well cited, respected and a ‘globally recognized’ Landmark case (authority). Just Google it!

Fiji citizens, indeed, had once been Proud beneficiaries of the Peoples’ 1997 Constitution and particularly its enlightened Human Rights provisions; with commendable developments in our unique Constitutional case laws / interpretations and many a times cross-referenced, cited with parallel developments in a similar South African Constitutional interpretations, in their Courts.

And certainly a place of honour (in the global scene) is also the Landmark Constitutional Chandrika Prasad case.

A Human Rights violation is a non-negotiable issue- now that’s the global best practice in Human Rights issues. It is unconstitutional even by (the sub-standard) and FRAUD Khaiyum’s 2013 Constitution. So how can Minister Reddy or the SA PolCom ‘reconcile’ a HR violation??

Have we as a nation, lost our age of enlightenment? So it seems it seems to me.

Now if we deeply reflect on those noble and visionary words of Late Justice Prakash’s Landmark judgement (dictum) against corporal punishments in schools - as against the present day brute reality of Violence, especially as it exists in the delicate mind of a eight year old child – then YES we have regrettably, regressed to an age of intellectual darkness akin to Hobbes’ ‘state of nature’.

In the ‘state of nature’, theorized the English philosopher, Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679) there is constant war [warre] between Everyman and Everyman. Human life in this state is “solidarity, poor, nasty, brutish and short”. In Hobbes state of nature, Violence is an acceptable means of achieving Power to dominate, bully, assert supremacy over others and ultimately despotic rule. The Hobbes’ state of nature is a complete anti-thesis of Gandhi’s concept of ‘ahimsa’ – which is a state of complete non-violence.

All the people from Cuvu and all the teachers in Sigatoka district knows about this. These bloody teachers spend less time in teaching and more time in gossiping. They know everything.
Some arseholes tried to help the settlement done and one of those were the Principal of Cuvu College (Mr Navneet Deepak Mishra).

Many people from Cuvu were also trying to get this settled but I don't know who the main hero was here you did such a non-heroic task to get this settled.

Now with the assistance from Fijileaks, the pig will be taken to task.

Thanks to www.fijileak.com and it's administrators.

Master Sashi is renown for beating students at Naidovi with his famous belt and has also kicked a small student some time back, but yes all kept quiet as he is the dada of Naidovi , eventhough corruption investigation by Ministry(tourist donation, canteen cash) on him done but everyone's stomach filled, so no charges as school manager ,president, secretary & treasurer all back him. A call for help as these dads are corrupting the community and future of our childrens.

We had a prayer a local cuvu mosque by the local priest that god save the head teacher from termination. Lol.
The very same priest had alledgedly molested some young girls and somehow paid his way out of court. Fijian police are pathetic.

This time maybe some priest from some church in Cuvu must be praying for Sashi. I respect prayers but dear priests (of all religion) please pray for poor , needy and good people. Praying for criminals means praying for the evil. It's Diwali time, please pray and celebrate the victory of "Good over Evil".....get a genuine reason to celebrate Diwali..........School Manager shouldn't celebrate Diwali if Sashi is not taken to task.............

Reports are coming that Master Sashi with the School Manager and Treasurer made thousands $ with the Japanese Grant given - picture earlier attached with Japan Ambassador Mr Yutaka Yoshizawa for the construction of Library. Total of $90000.00 was given and only a small classroom being constructed. Its a shame to Sashi and the Manager for eating the money which was given for children's education but since having POWERS he is doing whateva he wants. Is there ANYTHING which can be done to people like these ?? who are freely enjoying their life. Imagine what they are doing with Govt's yearly Grants$ for Childrens(FEG) Can these corrupted criminals be brought to task or is all this ongoing issues???

It's time for Cuvu people to get together as one and bring the corrupt people to task once and for all. The current School management should be thrown out, they have made a hell of the money from the people of Cuvu and now running their own business

Such a small country with big issues.

Teachers , I must admit in Fiji are too much to handle, I guess we have to teach our kids to fight back to the teacher when it comes to beating. Stand up for oppression!! Parents should play a big role in teaching kids how to stand up for themselves. They only abuse because kids passively tolerate it..so called education system.

In New Zealand its the opposite. Some students harass teachers, and poor teachers cant do anything about it.
