Biman Prasad demands an explanation while Ashwin Raj considers action against NFP

The Leader of the National Federation Party Professor Biman Prasad is now demanding the Director of Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission, Ashwin Raj to explain why there are two different versions of Ambassador Nazhat Shameem Khan’s statement at the 34th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

He says Raj needs to explain this first before he begins to shout at others and make wild allegations.

We questioned Prasad whether he agrees with Shameem’s comments where she said that racism was institutionalised in Fiji to such an extent that it instilled in a privileged class a sense of entitlement based on ethnicity and class, and that racist attitudes were engrained in all communities, which have resulted in mistrust, resentment and suspicion.

Prasad did not give a clear answer but said there can be different interpretations.

We also questioned Prasad about Raj’s comments on why NFP has not even once intervened in the barrage of attacks on Shameem’s ethnicity, her gender, and her religion.

Raj had said that the string of racist, sexist and bigoted comments following the NFPs post on Facebook is a sad indictment of the fact that racism and prejudice is alive and thriving.

We asked Prasad whether he has seen those comments on NFP’s official facebook page.

The Leader of the NFP says they do not condone any of those comments.

Meanwhile, the Director of Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission Ashwin Raj has confirmed that there are no two versions of Ambassador Nazhat Shameem Khan’s statement at the 34th session of the Human Rights Council.

Raj says the Leader of the NFP who is also an academic should have done his homework before vilifying Khan publicly.

Raj says he is also not satisfied with Biman Prasad’s comments that NFP does not condone those abusive remarks that were put against Nazhat Shameem Khan on NFP’s Facebook page.

When questioned by Fijivillage, Raj has confirmed that he will consider taking action against NFP in relation to the racist, sexist and bigoted comments made against Nazhat Shameem. Source: Fijivillage News

Talking about " taking action" we know how Ashwin Raj, the dictatorship installed Director of Human Rights takes action.
He does that very selectively in favour of his political masters.
Now, that is NOT how the Human Rights body is meant to operate in a democracy.
It makes a thinking man wonder just what kind of democracy has after recently emerging from a brutal dictatorship which the likes of intellectuals like Ashwin Raj, Nazhat Shameem and other regime chamchas shamelessly supported and defended.

Who the hell does Ashwin Raj think he is? The man is a living, perfect and unashamed example of hypocrisy in Fiji. Like Khaiyum and Bai, he is the personification of paradox and enigma.

Many of us still remember Ashwin posing with Nazhat, Anthony and others at the UNHRC in Geneva.

To you Ashwin, answer these questions:

1. Do you foolishly think that we the people of Fiji are so naive and ignorant not to discern truth, justice and righteousness ?
2. Do you really think that we depend on you to define our human rights and to protect them for us?
3. Do you seriously believe that you can be neutral in your views and balanced in your perceptions about morality and values when you truly are one of Aiyaz Khaiyum's little barking dogs?
4. Do you think that you can continue to serve the Fijian public with your confused and distorted views about what is good, right and acceptable for us as a society?
5. Do you really believe that we care about you and your bunch of bananas ?
6. Finally, have you seriously thought about what will happen to you and those with whom you belong when Fiji rises against your dictatorship and sham democratic regime?

Listen Ashwin. Listen well. Go look at yourself in the mirror of public opinion and realise that we have had enough of you lot. Enjoy your moment of false glory. Bask in the comfort of your precarious security. But know that your time is rapidly coming to an end. If you have not started yet, begin to pack your mouth, ideas and your bags and choose a new place where you must go to. Because I do not think that when the BaiKhai sand castle crumbles to the floor, very bad things will happen to people like you.If you still have any common decent sense, please take heed of my advice for your own good.

The FFP is a menace that festers and with it a stench that riles the many who aspire to horde wealth and live with gluttony. When will the kingdoms deliver to their people? When will the focus be on building strong united communities? For it is only when the people are trully self sustaining, from the land, for wealth and credence, then behold, politics and politicians will be irrelevant.

What has got Ashwin Raj so worked up that he has gone after NFP ( churi Maro ) . Is it the lies or the truth that hurts so much. Here we see the real purpose for Ashwin Raj's position to protect ferociously FFP and it's band of merry man and women. If only the ordinary Fijian beaten and killed by the security forces got the same level of support things could change. But alas this is Fiji democracy.

Outside Paluament. in the public sphere, Aswhin Raj is the regime's Chief of the Thought Police; Inside Parliament the Chief of the Thought Police is the AG and de facto Prime Minister, Khaiyum. Welcome to the new Fascist Fiji where you do what you're told or you will be punished. The irony of this case is while the controversial speech warns about the wrong of the majority repressing the minority, what's happening in Fiji today is the minority suppressing the majority through togs draconian laws suppressing freedoms of speech, freedom of thought and freedom of association.

Well Professor Biman, BEFORE you started to vilify Shameem, should you have not done your own research? You SHOULD have researched the versions, or what was actually said, before writing your nonsense. How did you become a Professor?

I like listening to Tomasi ,sometimes. The Vanua has finally woken up. All these years, Victor Lal has been trying and trying ,in vain to wake you lot up so that you could see what was happening around you and to you.
Thank you Tomasi for waking up. Please wake the others up as well before you all, like the vast majority of the Indo Fijian population become extinct due to the parliamentary seat warming. It's like global warming but in this case only the treasury and your rights are being made extinct.
The poor Indians and the poor Fijians are always used and suffer the most in all the coups. Perhaps you,Tomasi might be our saviour ,since all of Fiji has been wanting of one.
Every coup making idiot just rolls into office than begins filling their pockets.
On a legal thought, a country cannot run on two constitutions , so that's treason committed twice by this lot. Once with the take over and then with the new constitution.
I believe immunity is only for the take over.

Editor,
Targeting Activists Who Question The Ruling Elite
Faezeh Hashemi, the outspoken daughter of Iran's late President Rafsanjani has been sentenced to six months in prison for " spreading lies about the judiciary " ( The Times of Israel 19/3, France 24 News 20/3 ).
This is part of the pattern of hard-line crackdown on reformist journalists and activists calling for political democratisation.
We are familiar with that pattern after the Bainimarama coup of 2006 . We recall the elderly executive director of CCF Rev Akuila Yabaki was about to be thrown in jail for reproducing a write up from an overseas media that raised questions regarding the post coup Fiji judiciary...
Autocratic regimes find any questioning and criticism of the political system they have in place unpalatable .
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Its like Raj is doing so on behalf of the "minister for everything" ASK when NFP is just exercising their right to question or challenge the regime on anything they might find suspicious or questionable.
