MLA to Frank Bainimarama, 23 October 2015:
"We were not consulted about the sale of FEA assets"

"Madam Speaker, we expect to divest shares in FEA and AFL with the same approach next year. Negotiations are currently underway in respect of AFL, and Expressions of Interest for FEA will be assessed through interviews in the next few months."

Aiyaz Khaiyum, presenting 2016 Budget, 5 November 2015; with his puppet taking his usual NAP while collecting salary paid by taxpayers!

Editor,
If what Colin Simmons says in his letter ' Swayed by paltry sums ' ( The Age 7/11) is true for politicians in an advanced first world country like Australian imagine what it must be like in a third world banana republic.
Colin writes " I am constantly amazed at how little it takes to buy favourable decisions from politicians. It's clear the " right decisions " can be bought for relatively small sums, with $50K to $500K more than enough to swing the decisions of either party. It would not cost taxpayers TOO MUCH(!) to ban donations completely and fund the running of political parties ( and political newcomers ) from the public purse.
Which party is up for it? ( In Fiji clearly the Fiji First Party is NOT up to it. It was bankrolled by donations from the big end of town ).
It ( banning donations completely ) is sensible, democratic and honest and would have great support. It would free politicians to act in accordance with their principles and the benefit of voters rather than donors. And it would certainly cost less than the half- baked, uneconomic and antisocial decisions politicians have made over the years to protect their campaign funding".
Politicians getting funding from any other source other than the public purse/ General revenue breeds corruption.
Any corruption has contaminated democratic governance everywhere - first world and third world alike.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

They have approached the wrong person. They should approach the real pm of Kaiyum. Bainimarama is but just a puppet. Puppets only dance when masters command so it's better for the landowners to arselick Kaiyum first. Otherwise no chance in hell they will get any reward. Anyway, chances are the Chinese would have already sent their proposal with some Chinese love to Kaiyum and bainimarama already. The srilankans may also be in the process of wooing the two hungry dogs with doggy treats. Too late guys. Don't waste your time and energy.

Editor,
SBS news this morning had a segment on the on going ecological harm caused by oil company Shell in Nigeria. Fisheries has virtually been destroyed around the coastal areas because of oil spills . A villager is shown repeatedly pulling in his fishing nets with no fish in it. He said he now has to go further out to sea to catch anything.
In the segment the Nigerian activist Ken Saro Wiwa's brother says he died foe Speaking the Truth on the harm caused by Shell oil in Ogonilands. Ken Saro WiWA was executed by the Nigerian military.
Is today the anniversary of his killing by the Nigerian military rulers at that time?
Ken Saro's activism to protect the environment of the Ogoni people remain as relevant today as it was at the time of his execution.
Others continue in his footsteps to Speak the Truth .
Sincerely,

AK-47 has always been calling the shots, leaving Frankie to be nothing more than a puppet who just does things without thinking based on what Ayarse tells him to do.

Its a real shame.
