The native Fijians were victims of cynical manipulation by
1. rogue politicians from the defeated Alliance Party who were not willing to relinquish power after ruling for 17 consecutive years since Fiji gained independence in 1970.
2. rogue chiefs who threw their support behind the defeated Alliance politicians whom they traditionally supported.
3. rogue church leaders
4. rogue military men.
These rogue men conspired and orchestrated the forment against the democratically elected government led by Dr Timoci Bavadra.
There was no spontaneous agitation and protest by the native Fijians against the Bavadra government.
The protest, the street marches were orchestrated by the rogue men mentioned earlier.
The native Fijians were used by these self- serving rogue men in pursuit of their own agenda - get back into power by the backdoor - by invoking indigenous rights and all that.
Today many of the native Fijians have come to realise that they were used by their rogue leaders not to advance their cause but to advance themselves.

The only people with barbaric inclinations were the ones hell bent on removing the Bavadra government with armed thuggery and violence.
The native Fijians were roped in to serve that end.

During the torment of 2000, "Waiting for the Barbarians" by South African writer J M Coetzee. Now living in Australia away from the harsher times in his own land, it helped one to endure daily terrors and developments in a rapidly worsening situation. Barbarism had raised its ugly face and duplicity and terror were broadcast wide. The stench of evil might be discerned. Once sniffed upon the rank gusts blowing from Muaniweni, the Parliamentary precincts and environs of Labasa never to be forgotten. Even today this glimpse into a nether region close to Hades lives on.

Editor,
The Rogue Leader And His Rotten Ways
We learn from Yahoo!7News ( 22/09 ) article ' Kim Jong-un ordered anti-aircraft gun executions and kept teenage sex slaves, defector claims ' that the defector is the 26 year old daughter of a North Korean soldier Colonel Wui Yeon Lim.
She provides " a rare insight" into life under the brutal dictator.
She said she was " one of the more privileged citizens of Pyongyang growing up given her father's occupation in the military " . She said she was driven around in a SUV by her father's aide, ate Japanese food while other families starved, and lived in a detached State home in a quiet part of the city.
But despite her insulated and privileged life she said she witnessed " terrible things ".
The terrible things she refers to has been well documented by other defectors and human rights groups.
A shocking US government study, published last month, found Kim is executing North Koreans " in growing numbers as the population no longer view him as a living God ".
The US State Department report said the rogue nation currently has an estimated 80,000 - 120,000 political prisoners.
The terrible things rogue rulers do - against their own people - is well recorded ( see Ian Schott's book World's Most Infamous Dictators).
We have some familiarity with that with the conduct of our own rogue rulers - past and present.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu
