The true colours of the Fiji First Party are now coming to light. They don’t know what they are doing. And now they are lashing out with lies to cover up their incompetence.
They have no civil servants to help them now. All their business cronies have abandoned them. Their former Attorney-General fell into a trap under the very Constitution he wrote. And their leader, as he gets more frustrated, goes to his usual mode of bullying and threats.
Frank Bainimarama appointed Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum to the Constitutional Offices Commission. Aiyaz forgot that this disqualified him as a Parliamentarian. So out he went.
Then FFP said this was a strategy for Aiyaz to work “outside Parliament”. But Aiyaz again forgot the law. As a public officer he could not be secretary of Fiji First. So now FFP changes course again. Now Aiyaz will leave the COC.
This is the quality of legal advice the Fiji Government rested on for 16 years. And this is one reason why Fiji is in such a mess now.
Bainimarama is frustrated. So now he claims that the Constitution is being undermined. He offers no evidence. He complains that “Fijians are living in fear of losing their jobs”. Which Fijians? Which jobs?
If things are really so bad, and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is so badly needed, perhaps he should get on a plane and return to Fiji.
Bainimarama and Sayed-Khaiyum have no ideas left. They have no civil servants to do their work. They have no power and status to attract their usual cronies. So now, they lash out and lie.
This was always the truth of the Fiji First Party. Born after the 2006 military coup, their only ideology is spending Government money to win votes. They have no original ideas or principles. They have no commitment to anything except winning and holding political power.
Fiji First should take the time to learn about life in opposition. They should learn about how to create a real political party, not the same two-man band that the people of Fiji have thrown out.
