"I read with interest the simple lifestyle Frank Bainimarama exerts in a exclusive interview with MAI LIFE magazine (June 2014 ). Everything in he's political life is translated into breaking bureaucracy, cutting democratic red tape, and removing accepted traditional leadership models and protocols to make it more easier to bring about development and a common national identity. The article is silent on claims of misuse of regimental funds or claims that he ordered the deaths of CRW Soldiers and arrests of Pro Democratic and Politicians after the 2006 Coup. Hilariously he defends the cause to eliminate the memory of the Great Council of Chiefs on the back of Rural Development. A clash of job descriptions is looming, the Council of Chiefs is now been blamed for not building Roads, and providing Electricity and Water. Bainimarama seems to paint a image of him inheriting a whole iTaukei population that was blocked out from rural development projects (this after he called the SDL government racist and declared that they served only the iTaukei). It is the obligation of Governments to provide development, thats their job. That is why Bainimarama sits on a large pay packet and that is why we pay our taxes, we expect him to use tax payers money wisely and bring about development. Bainimarama has had 8 years of unaudited use of public funds, to bring development to the people of Fiji. No opposition to he's use of public funds is entertained. Even after all this, MAI LIFE reveals that Frank Bainimarama knew of the racially motivated coup of 2000 after been personally asked by Sakeasi Butadroka to 'get rid' of the Labour Government. Bainimarama refused to intervene, nor report to he's line minister and in doing so opened the door to the Civilian Coup. He could have stopped the planning and facilitating, but instead chose to keep silent. What a leader!" - Peter Waqavonovono, SUVA
