MIDA WILL GO, RABUKA. We welcome it, for the last 12 years Fijileaks provided its pages for the politicians and public to try and hold FFP to account. As end was coming to nigh in 2022, many Liu Muried EDITOR

Fijileaks: BE WARY OF FAKE FRIENDS OF MEDIA FREEDOM

*Among the notable TRAITORS is NFP leader BIMAN PRASAD. As soon as he formed a loose coalition with PAP's Coupist Rabuka, political mouse cut loose from our Editor-in-Chief. So, be wary of him.
*Another, on whose behalf our Founding Editor-in-Chief fought so many battles for over two decades, cut loose and has begun spouting a new mantra - FIRST NATION CITIZENS.
*Sadly, it was the 'First Nation Citizens' or 'Fiji for i-Taukei Fijians' that introduced the coup culture in Fiji, starting with SITIVENI RABUKA, The Father of Coups. Rabuka destroyed journalism in Fiji.
*In fact, Rabuka has never been held to account for his crimes against the journalists in 1987. While hiding behind the IMMUNITY he granted to himself, he shut down newspapers, threw editors and publishers in jail, and gagged the media through his own draconian media decree.
*The journalists operating under MIDA since 2010 never went through what the journalists went through from 1987 to 1999 until Rabuka-Reddy lost the general election.
*In the case of our Editor-in-Chief, he not only lost his job on the old Fiji Sun but his country and his citizenship. Rabuka closed down the old Fiji Sun, and later its foreign owners were forced to sell it to the Punjas, who claimed it was going to start producing soaps at the old Fiji Sun factory.
*The recent announcement to scrap the MIDA Decree is just a political soap drama from the Duna Rabuka.
*We continue to read attacks on the Fiji Sun but one of the most prolific abusers of his links with the Fiji Times was NFP's 'Poster Boy' and Suva lawyer Richard Naidu, who in the dying days of FFP government, used the paper to campaign and propagandize on behalf of PAP-NFP Coalition.
*It is too early to predict if the same Fiji media will hold the three-tyred wobbly Coalition government to account.
*Moreover, the Fiji Times, from 1869 to 2007, was the sole beneficiary of all Fiji government advertisements, raking in millions over a century.
*It was also shamelessly a cheer leader for the Alliance and the Qarase governments.
*We can proudly claim that despite hacking, death threats, treachery and betrayal from many politicians and the public, for the last 12 years Fijileaks had remained the voice and conscience of the silent majority.
*We never wavered to HOLD POWER TO ACCOUNT, and will continue to do so, irrespective of which Government is in POWER in Fiji.
*In the last 12 years, the supine Fiji media refused to publish a single opinion commentary by our Editor-in-Fiji or exposures from Fijileaks.
*In journalism we must never have permanent friends but potential foes, for the reading public must know, and has a right to be informed, about those who govern them in their name or those who govern them without their consent.
*For 12 years, Fiji media chose to remain dormant lamb chops, and now are coming out to feast on their so-called 'barbequed chops' - media freedom'.
*Let us see if the media will hold the Coalition government to account?

From the pen of JYOTI PRATIBHA, who we believe, has lost her job on the Fiji Sun. Her contract has not been renewed, for the paper wants to ingratiate itself with the Coalition government.
In 2013, ten years ago, she summed up our Editor-in-Chief as 'an irrelevant figure, peddling lies'
