Dear Editor,

The recent "monkey" saga is nothing new to a Fijian Parliament. I remember the days of Maan in the NFP and the antics of those in the SVT Government - equally hilarious days.

Nonetheless, I am still curious where exactly the AG has said that the opposition and Fijians are monkeys - I have listened to the speech and for some reason cannot find him saying the words. If we simply go by his actions, then Chris Jenner (Caitlyn Jenner) is guilty of insulting the women of the world through his recent transformation. The point I am driving here is that we may perhaps be reading too much into this whole affair.

Perhaps we need to go back to focusing on the real issues plaguing Fiji and not worry about the actions of the AG who no doubt has a promising career as King Kong's double one day :)

Two points if what you write is true - their attack is bcos it offended their god not at the fact that its racist against a particular ethnic group? Secondly are they offended becos it was directed to an Itaukei thus degrading their god? I dont get it.

This thing has become too much for anyone. Everyday something similar. Missing money, no explanations on audit reports, insulting us in Parliament, insulting Indos, criminal acts at FNU which no one is doing anything about, award from PM to person making losses in forestry industry.... We had hope and thought this gang will be able to do something positive with Fiji back in international community. How wrong were we. They are worse than any government we have had.

I don't think he was "insulting us" (meaning we i'taukei). Nor was he insulting Hanuman as some others have suggested.

To suggest that he did may be drawing too long a bow.

He was having a go at the hulking and sulking small-time wannabe chief Isoa Tikoca who always takes himself too seriously.

Tikoca should learn that if you want respect then you have got to earn it. Instead of encouraging his party to boycott every time they don't agree with an issue or an activity in parliament (their boycott of Modi) they should engage in constructive debate. That's why they were voted into parliament.

They are being outpointed at every turn. Now, even in acting!

Isoa Tikoca is a wannabe chief and takes himself too seriously and all that... And he must learn that if you want respect you must earn it.
What about Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum? Has he earned respect or simply demanded it from everybody in Fiji?

Look at the quality of the debate in parliament. Who is better?

As Opposition Whip, Tikoca's tactics when put under pressure or challenged, is to boycott!

He (they) cannot match the quality of the debate from the government side.

That's the criteria people will base their next vote on.

It sickens me that some Hindus feel insulted! Perhaps they have never seen star wars nor do they know about Darth Vader otherwise they would have protested to Hollywood long time ago.

I am a Hindu and there was nothing I find even the slightest bit insulting. How exactly is it insulting to the itaukeis also I am not sure. Again, if that was really insulting then itaukeis should have also protested to Hollywood.

Get a life people and go watch some star wars for entertainment.
