Swami Tadananda
Ramakrishna Mission, a registered charitable Trust, is mobilising to undertake relief operations to serve the poor, needy affected people by the cyclone:
1. Medical Relief: Open both our two Sarada Medical Centres (in Nadi Town and and Rishikul College, Nasinu) to provide free medical relief services to public. We expect people to come with injuries and illnesses that normally follow a cyclone/flood disaster. We plan to provide free consultations, medicines, nursing services for injuries etc. We will have to explore the logistics of making this service mobile.
2. Food Security: As most of the crowds [crops] have been destroyed, we expect a major shortage of food items. We plan to provide ~ 10 varieties of vegetable seeds to farmers and households so that people can start planting and growing their own basic vegetables and fruits. We have done this in the past disasters and the impact was very good.
