According to Dr. Reddy, people are not identifying appointments in totally – citing his former role as chairman of the Commerce Commission as an example. “We have moved away from communal politics. Economists warned Chaudhry: Coup will hurt Indo-Fijians

As the military tightened its noose around the Laisenia Qarase’s multi-party government with threats to depose it, two of the country’s leading Indo-Fijian economists, Professor Biman Prasad and Dr Mahendra Reddy wrote to the Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry on 26 November 2006, calling upon him to recommend the formation of a government of national unity to avert a military coup. The economists were writing to Mr Chaudhry not only as concerned citizens but also as members of the Indo-Fijian community, and the fact that Mr Chaudhry had the mandate of the majority of their respective community. Uppermost in the minds of the two economists was the spectre of violence against the Indo-Fijians, and Mr Chaudhry’s alleged “conspicuous silence on the role of the military”:

The former US ambassador Larry Dinger to Washington: "Leadership of the opposition FLP seems to have a similarly relativist approach. The FLP President, Mrs. Koroi, openly admitted to Fiji TV during the civil-military crisis in January that she would find it acceptable for the RFMF to remove the Qarase government and replace it with the pre-2000 Chaudhry government, to restore the previous status quo. Chaudhry publicly backed away from Mrs. Koroi's statement at the time; but privately he seemed to imply to the Ambassador and Krawitz that it might be justifiable for the RFMF to remove the Qarase government and install an interim replacement, pending fair elections."

Sure enough, we now have a constitution worse for Indians who are to become permanent opposition in Fiji.

After Frank losing power or if he dies, there is no leader yet to show they will stand to racism against Indians.

SODELPA tends not to think why Indians supporting Frank but rather may blame Indians for putting Frank back into power.

Basically Indians find peace and security with reduced crime where home invasion is minimal.

Why don't you fight for 1997 Constitution to be the basis of parliament as manifesto of SODELPA?

It is this GCC given 1997 Constitution that gave I-Taukei complete rights where they will not be insubordinate to any other race in Fiji BUT be equal to ALL peoples domiciled in Fiji.

This is what Rabuka's mission did to protect you I-Taukei's but YOU dumped him and SVT.

Then there is seperate rights under indegenous rights for indegenous people. This is under the Fijian Affairs Act. No Indo- Fijians are disputing your rights therein.

IF SODELPA does declare this as basis of their campaign rather than getting purportedly "misquoted", then you will not have to refer to Victor and Aiaz as bastards but look within the mirror as to who started destroying your rights under disguise of Indo Fijians hard earned success.

BUT you nationalists want your cake and eat it to. i.e. you want Indian's to be permanent opposition why they all support one man one vote BUT greedy to claim foul when your rights are also stripped with those of Indo-Fijians rights to be in cabinet as a basis of GNU to deliver a BETTER for for ALL.

BUT this means within 10 years down the line... YOU will witness YOU have supported your own destruction just as Mugabe did.

Then do not cry foul when the goligoli will not have any fish breeding ground left to feed your coastal I-Taukei as high export of fish to China will make a handful quickly rich but drain all fish to feed the Chinese and not feed the I-Taukei [example only]....

YOU by calling Victor a bastard is irresponsible ...I wonder why did the Indo-Fijian's support you to get educated faster as a community? Check out I-Taukei student aged pre 1977 now retired as to how much educated is the % of these grouping.

It was at the hands of NFP's proposal [around early seventies] that proposed for I-Taukei and all to have FREE education up to class six as Fijian parents were not able to afford to send their children to school.

This was at the time when Fiji's tax earnings were largely coming from Indo-Fijians as well as Indo-Fijian taxes paid for plantation of Pine and Mahogany ALL arising from govt taking "sugar tax" from poor cane farmers to make your life comfortable where YOU are today.

It is a fact that Muslims have acquired key positions in the Bainimarama regime because Aiyaz Saiyad Khaiyum the illegal A-G and Nazhat Shameem the behind the scene judicial puppeteer and Mohammed Aziz the military general are all key regime hands. I agree with Victor, race card this time around will not win votes, what will win votes are big bold ideas which progresses the nation towards employment and growth opportunities for the future
Having said that people will also need to be reminded of the last 8 years of absolute dictatorial rule so remember the past and build on the future with a ideas driven campaign
The electorate has changed and I think they are more interested in bold ideas not race driven agenda

FLP President Mrs Koroi was an idiot to have asked for Qarase govt be replaced with pre 2000 Chaudhry Govt.

She forgot that when refugee camp's Chandrika Prasad's case was won and FLP would have been asked to form the govt, it was Mahen Chaudhry who told President to dissolve the parliament and call for new elections.

Both Chaudhry and President breached the constitution by following that instruction, so why ask Chaudhry's pre 2000 govt to have returned to replace Qarase Govt and not suggest a proposal that was lawful?

What Canada Boy says is right and I wish that was the reality in today's Fiji. But it isn't. The electorate today has not changed and is not interested in "bold ideas" and all that. It is still a follow the leader without any critical questioning electorate. The only change might be towards a new leader - not because he offers "bold ideas" about Fiji's future.

absolutely not. Muslim women will be allowed to continue to cover their head completely AFTER Aiaz is head hunted as he might also get beneath women's vale to flee Fiji for Hong Kong!!!

As for muslims in high office, only those who were behind the coup and those who went ahead to give advice to regime that was against the laid down PSC manual and against the governing law of the land will not be allowed into high positions.

Same goes for those I-Taukei and Hindus who gave similar wrong adivce to the constitutional offices ever since August 2001 Parliament convened.

BUT can you think of which party do you think will implement this policy!!!!!

Firstly, Dr Reddy did not join the govt. He will stand for election as a FF candidate.

So this is to say that once SODELPA wins the election and if it does that is. You the so called sodelpa supporter are saying that you won't let muslims live in peace. You know stupid nut cases like you who don't look into things and just jump to conclusions becuase of people like you Fiji will never progress. From my point of view who ever wins the election will only be supportive of its people uptill their chairs are fixed. The moment they start sniffing up the money and power acquisitions properly everything will go back to square one and things will just sit as it is. Just to win votes everyone makes promises but there's an old saying "Promises are ment to be broken."

At this moment SODELPA is barking about the so called muslimization, that is because there is an Indo-Fijian sitting there and he is a muslim. Just to manipulate and sway the public thats why these things are being said out loud into different context. This is bloody politics so I would like to SOLDEPA idiots or any of anti-muslim freaks to go and learn about Islam and Qura'an and theb talk about it. And not to mix politics with religion otherwise Fiji's conditions will deteriorate and one day Fiji will lose its Independence.

So my request to all the so called politicians out there is to stop involving Islam and Qura'an in your dirty politics. I really don't want life in Fiji for the commoners to become hell.
