Fijileaks: Should heads roll in NFP hierarchy?
A letter obtained by the Fiji Sun written to the firm by the Fiji Institute of Accountants.
The letter stated: “We have received a report from Mr Mohammed Saneem, the Supervisor of Elections that you had provided an audit report on the Accounts of the National Federation Party for the year 2014 that was published in the Fiji Sun on 13th November 2015 and that you had submitted to him a copy of your certificate of membership as a registered Chartered Accountant of the Fiji Institute of Accountants as evidence of your authority to provide an audit report and to represent yourself auditor.
“Regrettably, this is not the first instance when your firm APNR Partners has provided an audit report when your firm was not authorised to do so. On 3rd August 2015, we received an enquiry from the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court as to whether Mr Riaz Khan of your firm was authorised to provide an audit report on the Trust Accounts of Lagilevu Law, AP Legal, Tirath Sharma Lawyers. As Mr Riaz Khan was not a registered Chartered Accountant member of the Institute nor the holder of a certificate of public practice, we so informed the Chief Registrar.
“The matter of your audit report on the Accounts of the National Federation Party will be reported to the Institute’s Investigation Committee for consideration.”
When contacted for comments last night, Mr Khan said he was driving and to call back later.
Subsequent calls made to his mobile number remained unanswered when this edition went to press. Source: Fiji Sun: http://fijisun.com.fj/2016/02/03/accounting-firm-quizzed/
