What a joke. With the same thugs in the current parliament under the ruse of democracy, does anyone honestly believe that bai-kai would give a damn to any of the recommendations of this PAC??? There have been scandal after scandal and yet these PAC morons think that FICAC will be vigilant and prosecute each and every person signalled by the auditor general in all of his previous reports.

Remember that FICAC is basically khaiyum's lap dog.

DREAM ON!!!

I wanted to say that! But could find the right words . You are spot on in your observation. These are people just going through the motions of showing a commitment to democratic accountability.
A naatak - just a stage show.

Editor,
Based on the constitution he and Voreqe Bainimarama imposed on the people of Fiji, the A-G Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum told Parliament that people with criminal convictions could be employed in the public service ( ' A-G clears the air on State jobs' Fiji Times 12/05).
I wondered if this applied to every citizen or a select few chosen of course by the power holders?
I know from my readings that you can have the loftiest human rights and civil rights ideals enshrined in a constitution. Stalin's Soviet Union had such constitutional guarantees! But it is in the practical implementation - in the ground realities - that we get the true test of the constitution and it's meaningfulness and value to the people.
And just a day later I read in Dan Urai's letter (FT 13/05) that a person with a relatively minor crinimal record dating 35 years back was denied the right to contest the recently held democratic elections in Fiji.
I think I have got the answer to my own question.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Well said Dream On and Chiku. This PAC is a charade of good magnitude, simply fooling the Fiji public, with Biman beating his own
trumpet as its chair to line his pocket and getting some limelight. This is what failed economists do.

Biman and the rest of his opposition are well aware that this sardar Balbindar Singh of FFP(deputy chair) is a former FICAC investigator himself who knows bloody damn well all those in the government and public servants who were party to the fraud as covered by the auditor general but failed to even speak out - simply
coz to do so would have jeopardised his chances of getting a FFP ticket and being a mp.

WHAT A NAATAK and WHAT A JOKE INDEED!!!

Professor Biman prasad can move around feeling important as chair of PAC but the reality is he is part of the Naatak. The sideshow of parliamentary democracy in Fiji. He is no more than a pawn in the political game arranged by the Fijian dictatorship under a new name.

Cowards
This is exactly what the Indian community in Fiji are..(actually with all due respect...not all but a fair majority).

This election has also cleared the air, that Indians remain the most self-serving and greedy people, not to state extreme cowards. The last election was a chance to get rid of the dictatorship and COUP culture and make an emphatic statement. But 70% of the Indian population voted them in, if the results are to be trusted, at all.!!!!!

In doing so, the Indian population have unconditionally supported the actions of 1987, 200 and 2006 coups.

The parliamentary set-up and constitution ensured, that whoever will be in the power will have complete control, as all the draconian DECREE's were intact and enshrined.

What's more, there will be no illegal COUPS in Fiji, and only Legal COUPS. How's that for people who voted blindly, and are now seeking miracles from the powerless opposition.

For the people who are throwing stones, were you are living in glasshouse during the elections??

Hypocrite is a kind word for some of you!

And like the saying goes : you make your bed you lie on it.
All the idiots who voted the Fiji First Theft Party government of the dictator Frank Bainimarama will just have to live with the rogue government they put in power.
