No need to labour the point. It is a well known and well established fact ( thanks here to Fijileaks for its contribution to that end ) that the Fiji First Theft Party of coupster Frank Bainimarama and his mediocre intellectual mastermind Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum came to power through FRAUDULENT and UN LAWFUL means.
It is a rogue regime.

In her letter to The Age 19/9 Rosalie Prince reminds us of this sage basis for character analysis. " From Sophocles, Antigone : of course you cannot know a man completely, his character, his principles, sense of judgement, not till he's shown his colours, ruling the people, making laws.
As true now as it was 2000 years ago.
What are we to make of the true character of the current rulers in Fiji using this framework of analysis?

Fijians have suffered for 1 year already. More suffering instore till we get the chance to uproot this government and throw them in the sewerage plant. Till then, let's pray for the patience and strength to bear the suffering. We will get our chance but let's not take rash actions which will bring more suffering than good.

It is mind boggling that Fiji First Party people can become MPs and even cabinet ministers with the kind of votes they got under the electoral system imposed by the Bainimarama regime. I got far more votes as a Foundation Year student representative to the USP Student Council way back in the mid 70s !

Last week saw two coups taking place. One in Australia and the other in Bokina Faso. The one in Australia happened within the democratic framework when the ruling party ousted its leader and the country's PM in a spill. There was no military involvement, no violence and no deaths in the sudden and abrupt change in political leadership .
By contrast the one in Bokina Faso which happened outside of the democratic framework saw the presidential guard takeover by force of arms and detained the current president. The violent takeover resulted in ten deaths and several dozen injured.
This takeover was an attempt by the past president to sneak back into power by cynically manipulating the presidential guard which he had established during his reign in power from his current abode in Cort d'vore.
The Australia coup might be distasteful for some in Australia but people who have had first hand experience of the kind of coup Bokina Faso had would rather have the Australian democratic coup any day.

One year ago the thieves in the Fiji First Theft Party stole their way into power and are carrying on like the rogue regime it is without genuine democratic accountability and transparency and public scrutiny.
The mainstream media instead of fulfilling its duty of public scrutiny as a public watchdog has largely become a cheerleader of this rogue regime. Shame on the them.
And, credit to Fijileaks for doing what the media in Fiji as the Fourth Estate should be doing and isn't .
