“Firstly, allow me to congratulate you, Madam Speaker, on your election as Speaker of this Parliament. To become the first woman Speaker of a Parliament in Fiji, or in any other Pacific Island Country, is a singular achievement and an inspiration to women everywhere." President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau

And before Rattle:

Marguerite Nora Eikura Kitimira Story

She was the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands from 1965 to 1979. She was the first woman elected to the Cook Islands Parliament and was also the first woman in the Commonwealth to become speaker of a national parliament.

Ratu Ulu FullMoon has been caught LYING to the Nation.

Just arrogance, lack of knowledge and research on the part of Ratu Ulu's speech writers. So typical of this lot of idiots who run our country.

No he didn’t lie. He just didn’t have the facts and he didn’t care. It wasn’t even part of his speech. It was his extra.

He just said it because it sounded good, progressive and a smart thing to say. Say something, anything to make Frankie happy. Who cares about the facts?

Next he’ll tell us that the Cook Islands are not in the Pacific…

Now that it is established that the President was wrong in fact, will the Parliament Speaker correct this and will the Fiji Media (including FBC&Fiji Sun) publish this or will this government thrive on continued false propaganda.
