Unionist Daniel Urai says he is relieved that charges against him and Jagath Karunaratne who were earlier charged with Urging Political Violence has been withdrawn.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde has decided to withdraw charges against them as the State today filed a Nolle Prosequi in Court.
The DPP’s office is yet to give the reason for the withdrawal of the charges.
In a press conference this afternoon, Urai says the reason was also not revealed to them. He adds he suffered a lot over the past four years.
Karunaratne says he is not fully relieved as he still has a case pending against him which will be called later this month.
The defence asked the court to release both passports of the accused persons and to lift the stop‑departure order.
This was granted by the court.
