You can no longer read the following below - for the regime's propaganda ragsheet THE FIJI SUN has removed all my published writings, stretching several years, from its website:
However, I found the first of the eight-part series that I had written on why the Fiji High Court, then led by Justice Anthony Gates (another old friend) was wrong in ruling that the late President Ratu Josefa Illoilo was right in appointing Frank Bainimarama as Prime Minister - an argument of mine that was later endorsed by the Fiji Court of Appeal, resulting in Aiyaz Khaiyum abrogating the 1997 Constitution: http://solivakasama.wordpress.com/2008/11/02/victor-lal-on-creative-misuse-of-presidential-prerogative-powers-part-1/

It can be translated as follows: “_______________, what else are you people doing there? Tell that son of his mother’s vagina (referring to the then Prime Minister, Mr Laisenia Qarase) to shut his mouth or I’ll come down there and drag him by the neck so that he can fuck-off to his village. Do you people want to be beaten up? You people fuck each other, your time is over. Tell that person (again referring to Mr Qarase) to shut his mouth or I’ll come down to shut it for him.” Because of the din at that location, I had to go to a quieter place outside the ‘vakatunuloa’ where I could hear the Commander better. Fiji's Police Commissioner Ben Groenewald confirms there is no case registered in his institution to warrant the arrest of former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase. Groenewald’s comments and reassurance comes in light of a statement released by the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) where the party talked about reports of Qarase’s possible arrest upon his return from America and party officials requested him to remain overseas. Released on September 4, the statement numbered 25 quotes Ro Teimumu saying “We do not wish him to come to any further harm or unfair treatment at the hands of this regime as he has already been persecuted and has served his sentence in prison under highly questionable circumstances, we do not want him to face a similar fate again.” Today Commissioner Groenewald said “I can confirm that there is no criminal case registered within the Fiji Police Force against Mr Qarase which would warrant his arrest upon his return.” Meanwhile the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has also denied claims that they are conducting investigations regarding Qarase. “FICAC denies this statement based on misconceived information.” Read more at: http://fijilive.com/news/2014/09/no-case-filed-against-qarase-police/58850.Fijilive
